Appetizer bar food was stale and had been sitting there for way too long. The vegetable spring roll had a stone in one of them, sushi rice was dry. The lady that waited on my friend and I was extremely rude. Because we wanted our entree meal 'to go' and had eaten at their appetizer bar (which apparently you're not allowed to do as its breaking the policy of the restaurant), the waitress got upset and proceeded to tell the owner. So the owner decides to come to our table to make it known that we were breaking her policy and was very rude and walked off as we were trying to talk to her! Due to service and rudeness, especially the way we treated given we were paying for the appetizer bar food plus entree, I would not recommend this place. It's sad to see business owners who don't know to respect regular customers, I will never come here again. read more

Worst customer service I ever experienced. If I could give the staff and owner of this restaurant a minus 10 review I would. I'm a new resident in the Woodlands visit this place first time and I think is the owner approached my table. With a nasty military tone of voice said not to go bag, if U want buffet bar pick An entry choice. Well the entry I choose was horrible and I return the plate. I notice this same woman in Thai language star getting upset with the waiter that was on my table. Never, ever been on a restaurant that the owner policy is not to go left over, not return if any kind (even if you don't line the food). This same women told another male waiter to tell my party that not return if any kind. My question is if U think this place is all that. Why so much regulation for a food and service U R paying for. This waiter was nasty, took the menu if my wife hands, when she want even ready to order another entry for the one she return. All this because she returned a dish. Next step took my party if 4 and exit the door, to be approached by this owner or manager acting like she doesn't have a clue of what was going on (when she was the one who told this waitress to act in such nasty-disrespectful way toward their clients. "Listen Thai Ploy Restaurant" customers service is everything for success U R the worst in town and need to take a course on customer service. Cute little place that's conveniently located!! Food was delicious & had a nice plated presentation. Peanut chili sauce was superb!! Staff was friendly & we were seated immediately. Only issues we had was lack of communication. Being new customers, we weren't sure how the salad/sushi bar worked, and had to flag down a waitress after sitting for about 10 mins looking around. Also, they have a " no to-go box" policy. I understand the reasoning behind this (because of the unlimited sushi bar), but that extends to your entre as well.. They will not give you a to-go box for the rest of your food! I asked our waitress for one as she was bringing back our check & she looked at me & walked away without saying anything. She never came back. After sitting there a while, I flagged down another waitress & asked for a box for the rest of my food. She told me they can't give out boxes to go. So I had to leave the other half of my dinner. Wasn't too happy about that. Otherwise, it was a good experience. read more

Thai is my Favorite, but the owners here are so rude! They are so concerned about saving $ they make you feel terrible if you ask for xtra lemon. The buffet is descent, but when I went, it was 45 minutes til lunch was over & they would NOT replenish any of the dishes. They make sure to tell you that you are NOT allowed to take leftovers home & will not give you a box. I hadn't even asked for a box & this was said to me 2x. I will not be going back. I have only had take out, but will say they have always been pleasant, fast and the food is good!!! Portions are good, everything has always been fresh. I am not an expert on Thai, have never been to Thailand of had someone from there cook me an authentic meal...but this is The Woodlands, not NYC or LA...so I would expect it to be a bit Americanized...for something healthy, tasty and different than nasty chain restaurants I recommend it. The restaurant itself is very pretty too. One of my coworker and my favorite lunch spots. Every lunch includes unlimited trips to an appetizer buffet (much better than it sounds). Wait staff are all kind and helpful. Always leave full and the price keeps the wallet happy too. I personally recommend the sesame chicken. read more

I have yet to be disappointed by any dish I have ordered here. All of their food is fresh, loaded with perfectly cooked veggies, and absolutely no overbearing sauces or cooking oils. Their lunch specials are super reasonably priced, and they even offer a full salad bar during lunch hour. We have eaten at Ploy at least 50 times over the past years since they opened. Of those meals, I've only had 2 or 3 times where the food was average . . .all of the rest have been great ! The Combination Tray is our traditional starter, with Pad Thai as the main course. The Thai Ice Tea is outstanding ! We've eaten there during lunches and dinners. Regarding the complaints about the restrictions on sharing during lunch. The issue is folks who share rather than buying a main course as well. Without the restrictions, the place would go bankrupt as the food costs would not be covered by those over-eating the excellent food. read more

Was visiting from overseas and wanted to make my American friend try Thai food for the first time. He loved it and so did I. We had the chicken satay, Ploy fried rice and pad Kee Mao. Terrible portions. I come here frequently because the food is very good, however DO NOT order catering from here. They give you tiny little portions in huge trays and refuse to do anything after you ask why the amount is so small. Also, I've run across very rude servers who don't even pretend to care about you and whose sole purpose is to get you out as fast as possible. Good food but terrible service and catering. I would rate this place a 5 b/c they have great food! I'm a regular up until a couple months ago when the waitress asked me if I was pregnant, I was in my uniform which is not flattering in the first place, I politely told her no. I go to eat there again a week later and she asked me the same question and again I told her no. A month later I go again this time in regular clothes and the same waitress again asked me if I had the baby? WTH! I stopped going for awhile, then today I would give them a chance and call in an order. The lady on the phone said they were closed, it's 8:30 pm they close at 9 pm and I asked don't you guys close @ 9? She said yes but they didn't have customers for an hour so decided to close, I told her that this is not good for her business and this woman just laughed and said yea it's not good and I'm confused to why she is laughing! I have been going to PLOY For years and have now had the absolute worst customer service there today. I went by myself a 30-year-old woman to get lunch got my lunch and got a phone call that I needed to leave ASAP so I asked my waitress if I could take my food to go and she informed me absolutely not they don't allow people to take their lunch to go because I obviously got full off of the salad bar mind you I had two spring rolls. So basically my lunch was thrown in the trash and I couldn't take it since it's now against their policy I think it's absolutely ridiculous and when I asked my family who goes there often as well about this they all thought it was bogus and they won't be back. We went for lunch today. Everything was excellent. The buffet was extensive and we were seeing the food constantly rotated out so everything looked and tasted very fresh. The hot and sour soup was excellent, the fried broccoli was unique but delicious and not too heavy, and all of the sushi tasted fresh with very soft rice and cold fish. There was so much to chose from on the buffet that when the lunch portion came, even though it was a smaller portion, we were perfectly satisfied. We both got the garlic chicken and both had it made as spicy as we wanted it. The wait staff was very nice and accommodating. We never went without water and the waitress was very sweet. My boyfriend likes his food extremely spicy and she made sure it came out exactly how he wanted it. When it was all said and done, we spent about $23 before tip and, with the appetizer buffet, I think we got way more than our money's worth. I was a bit trepedacious after reading some of the reviews but I'm really glad I gave it a try. Maybe others have had off experiences, but we had absolutely nothing to complain about. I was on my lunchbreak from work and was super excited to have some pad thai. We placed our order as soon as we sat down and nibbled on the salad bar. It took them over 40 minutes to get our food to us and we couldn't even eat it because we had to leave to go back to work. I took a taste of my pad thai...and keep in mind, Thai is my favourite kind of food and I have had pad thai pretty much everywhere. This was the worst pad thai I have EVER had. the sauce was all wrong and it was really sweet and just flat out disgusting. They don't allow you to take your lunch away in a to-go box for some reason...so we ended up having to pay for the meals we couldn't even eat because it took them 40 minutes to make it. I've never in my life been so infuriated at the service and food of a restaurant in my life. Stopped while traveling, needed some vegetables and non-fast food. Huge disappointment. Appetizer bar items stale. Sauces were the worst. Thai peanut sauce is usually something I can bathe in. No to go boxes allowed. I think it's because of cost for the restaurant. No to go boxes from the buffet OR the food you order from the menu. Their food is amazing! If you order from the menu, you might want to share since the food from the buffet is delicious and it will fill you up quickly! The sushi on the buffet is really good and fresh. The staff is very sweet. We've come in late a couple a times for lunch and was respectful about letting us know that they close between lunch and dinner. Be courteous to them, since their English is limited. I usually help with the communication barrier by pointing at the menu what I want and spice level. read more

I don't have high hopes for a really decent Thai (or any Asian) restaurant here in the Woodlands/Spring/Tomball area. With that said, the food was okay though the service was quite good. Larb Gai did not have enough seasoning and lime juice and served with nary any greens to eat with the Thai way (and it was ice berg rather than cabbage that was served). Pad Thai with chicken was okay. Big on the tamarind flavor but missing fried bits of tofu just coz it was a "chicken" pat thai order. The best thing was the tot mum or red curry pan fried fish cake patties as appetizer. The sauce could be more generous in portion but at least it tasted right and with a bit of crunch on the outside. read more

Ordered takeout and was pleasantly surprised. The pad see ewe was perfect with a nice balance of wide noodle ribbons, meat , sauce and crisp veggies. Yellow curry was creamy and delectable and the Ploy fried rice was very flavorful. The downside? The spring rolls were a little thick and chewy. Tried this place for the first time and it is hands down the best Thai we've had since moving back to Texas! My husband had the pad Thai which entailed the perfect amount of sauce and this smoky taste to it that was an amazing addition! (So thankful he shared!) I had the red curry and it was amazing! I've lived in The Woodlands for a long time and have never been able to find great Pad Thai until I visited here. Definitely the best in town! I get mine "Thai Hot" but beware...it is SPICY! If you don't like spicy then my husband would recommend the Ploy Garlic. You will definitely have garlic breath for at least 24 hours with this dish though! The service is also always really great. We've been here several times and it is our favorite Thai place in the Spring/ Wooldands area. Good service, kind staff, the atmosphere is casual and comfortable, but not overdone. Great for groups. The food is okay for the price. My wife always gets the Pad Thai, which she enjoyed, but we have had better. However, I have enjoyed some of the other menu items greatly! Love, love, love Ploy! Great Thai food! We have never had anything but great food here! Good service and a relaxed atmosphere. You can get the food as spicy as you want. But "medium" is really spicy!
