Pros: - everyone is very friendly and nice - everything was done carefully and well; there was no rush even though the salon was very busy - huge color selection - fairly fast - reasonable prices: nyc is expensive no matter what, but this is on par with other salons in the area Cons: - be careful about extras: many things are add-on's but they don't specify that when you agree to something extra. I walked in and asked if they had time for a fill at 7:55pm. The sweet lady doing someone else's nails said yes and to take a seat. 5 minutes later an older women comes from the back and yells at me that they're closed. I told her I understood, but I asked if they had time and the other nail tech said yes, that's why I sat down to wait for my turn. She yells "We close at 8!!!" And starts speaking a different language to the other lady and sounded upset. I stood up and said "don't worry about it. I'll leave." And walked out as she said nothing. I am surprised by the low rating of this place. The owner is super sweet. I walked in a half hour before they were about to close to get nail extensions; she happily did it and kept the place open an hour extra bc I needed to get it done for a special occasion. I just walked out of Bella's Nails and as always, it was lovely. I am always warmly greeted when I come in and this time was no different. I got the powder/dip nails and I didn't realize it took longer than a regular manicure and when I told them I had a time constraint (half way through, I might add) not only did they have another woman help so it could get done faster, they were all so sweet about it. There are MANY regulars that swear by this place. It is clean and the beauticians are dedicated and careful with their work. Very clean, quick, cute salon. Also, $30 mani/ pedi M-W is a plus! Only 2 starts though because the last time I was there, I left with cuts from when they push back, and cut the cuticles (unusually painful experience), as well as a sloppy polish job. I live down the street so have been here a few times with great results, it makes me think that maybe the technician was new and not experienced. I got amazing service here - everyone was very friendly and accommodating, but my pedicure didn't last nearly as long as it had at other places I've been. I got a pedicure and added a 10 minute foot massage (totaling $41) and it was great. I got right in without an appointment at 3pm on a Sunday. The place was small but not too cramped. They end the toe cleaning by lightly massaging an oil of your choice (I chose lavender and it was very relaxing) on your legs and feet. read more

Been a regular for many years. I have always been treated warmly and with kindness. The ladies that work there are wonderful. My kid will always stop and say hi when we walk by- they are sincerely friendly. I get the green tea pedi because it includes all of the services I want- callous removal and a ten minute massage including hot stone . It is heaven! This is NYC expect to pay more, between rents and fairly paying your staff it is hard to turn a profit and stay in business. Don't blame them for offering services just say no- there's no tricks here- they try to up sell everyone! That's business for you and how you stay in the black. Just went here to get a manicure and pedicure. I called before I went in to ask about prices and they told me it would be $42 total for a mani pedi. During my pedicure, the worker did not spend a lot of time on me at all and did a very mediocre job. The polish was streaky and could have definitely used another layer. I was not happy with it at all. However, my manicure turned out great - I had no problems with it at all. But, when it came time to pay, she informed me that the total was $45.50 (top coat polish was an extra $1 - ridiculous!!!). I had brought just enough cash to pay $42 + tip, and was forced to use my card because of the higher price. I was very dissatisfied with this, and I thought charging extra for a topcoat was absolutely absurd. Although the staff was extremely friendly, talkative, and nice, I probably would not come back here. The two of us only asked for one pedicure and one 30 min massage and in the two hours we were in the salon they couldn't find the time to do a 15 minute massage for my friend. This is by far one of the most disappointing and uncomfortable experiences I've had getting my nails done. The entire experience was not comfortable and the job done was horribly. They barely scrubbed the bottom of my feet and the tool they used fell on the FILTHY floor and the picked it up to continue. They used a thin paper towel as a cover for the area to rest your feet and there were no liners in the tub to keep it clean. I'm not a weekly customer, but I come in here regularly. It's clean, it's not that expensive, the people are nice and I get 2+ weeks EASY on the pedicure. Yes, it's a la carte on the pedicure, which means you are paying +$10 for callus remover and +$10 for a massage, etc. But if you want all that, just get the spa pedicure and it's all included. Finally, those complaining about services "at this price" need to go read the NYT article and re-evaluate your choices. $5 manicures are done in illegal sweatshops, not here. read more

Got a last minute appointment on July 4th for three people. Awesome prices for regular mani/pedis ($12 for manicure and $24 for pedicure). There are nail places nearby like Marilyn Monroe where the cheapest pedicure is $65! I had Silvia as my nail technician and I have to say that it was one of the best pedicures I've had in the city. I wanted to like Nail Bella. This nail salon is across the street from my office, decently priced, and clean. I have gone here several times now and I have never been happy with the results. I don't know what is up with the polish there but my nails will never go un-chipped for more than one day, sometimes it's only a few hours before they chip. The waxing services are okay, but way overpriced. I have saved the worst for last, the chair massage. I love a good back massage and my back had been bothering me for a while, so I decided to get a ten minute rub while my nails were drying. This was possibly the worst back massage I have ever received. The employee had no idea what they were doing and their hands were so clammy that I could feel the moisture through my shirt. It was absolutely disgusting but I was too polite to say anything. Instead, I did not tip. Apparently, not tipping at this place is the same as stealing. The employee and a manager both aggressively asked me for a tip as I tried to get out the door as quickly as possible. Super Awkward. I will never go back. read more

I live in the area and have gone to Nail Bella several times for manicures. The cost is too high for an average (at best) manicure, but the place is clean and I've never experienced a wait. That's the good.... The not-so-good...they are way to pushy with the up-sales and kind of rude about it....whether it's for gel or nail strengthener or fast-dry polish, you feel the pressure to spend more money or thou shall be judged. I can get over that. But what I can't get over is being misled. I'm the fool that got talked into a gel manicure after having been there at least five times. I specifically asked if it would ruin my nails, how it would be removed, etc. etc. I was assured my nails would be fine and they'd take it off when I wanted a regular manicure in a couple of weeks. When I went back two weeks later, they started taking off the polish and informed me there was a 10$ charge for that. The lady didn't even get all of the polish off and my nails were destroyed. Worst off, after I said I specifically had asked about these things, they were completely unapologetic and tried getting me to get the gel again. Seriously?!! I blame me for not knowing what gel polish was all about. But I blame them for misguiding me, my ruined nails, and for typically making me, the customer, feel uncomfortable for a buck or two, or in the case of the gel disaster, 35 bucks. This salon was recently remodeled and looks great. I stopped in for a mani/pedi. The woman doing my pedi kept trying to get me to upgrade to a Spa Pedi, I politely declined . The pedi was kind of rushed and she was a little rough on the leg rubbing. The mani was ok . I paid the $35 and handed the woman a $6 tip, she made a face !!! I left there feeling like maybe I didn't leave enough of a tip. But honestly , she was rough and rushed. That was 2 weeks ago . Yesterday I went back to the salon to meet my friend who was just finishing up her mani/pedi, I don't think she had any complaints until we went to leave , the same woman who made the face about my tip called out" Miss miss did you leave tip?" I've been here twice now. The first time I loved my experience. This time - not so much. My husband and I went, hoping to relax. To begin with I'm not a review writer. But this one deserved it. First off our chairs didn't work. I could not recline mine at all. So I was left sitting in a awkward position. I asked several times if the chair would recline and was either ignored or not understood. Second, both of our waters were scorching hot. Mine was so hot it had to be drained and refilled.... The nail tech even complained about her arm burning from having to reach in to let the water out. When refilling she overflowed the tub. While yes, I could have payed attention to it -it's not my job. I was trying to relax not watch the water. The floor along with my shoes was soaked. My husband finished up before I did. So he went ahead and paid and went outside. As I went to walk out the owner stopped me to tell me he didn't tip. No biggy, he's a man who does not get his nails done, he didn't know. I go out and get $20 and come back in. When I hand it to the owner she says "Is this shared?" Meaning is this for both your and your husbands services. I said yes.... And she says "oh.... Ok". In an EXTREMELY insulting manner. In front of a room of customers. Our pedis cost us $175. Honestly she was lucky they got the $20 after all the mishaps. Needless to say I won't be back. I'm really quite shocked at all the negative reviews. I love this place. I come every 3 weeks for my gel manicure and every month for my pedicure for years. Everyone here is great. My nails look great and they take extra care. I'm sure it's a little more expensive than the other places around but I trust everyone and it's worth it to me. Recently I came and was on my lunch break, I let Sue know and she had me in and out in plenty of time. They always try to up sell, but it's a part of the business! Paid $100 for my manicure on 2/3. I recieved a terrible acrylic and paint job and paid $100. Immediately after finishing my manicure i wanted to ask for all the nails to be removed and for a refund - however i had my own agenda for the day and had no more time to spare. Upon finishing, i tipped $5 and the lady doing my nails asked me for $10 instead. If customers are satisfied with their service they would not mind tipping $10 but you cant do a terrible job and ask for a better tip. I also asked for my nails to be square!!!! Im not sure what kind of shape was applied to my nails-some where square some were more round.. make it make sense for $100. Four days later i Took all my nail polish off (as the pictures show) but mainly so i could FILE MY ACRYLIC CORRECTLY!!!!(as a customer!!!) Underneath my nails were not filed correctly and some of them appear lumpy. There is not reason why i need to pay $90 for acrylic and it not be filed correctly.i m not posting to bash the business but to spread awareness to other customers before they waste their money and time. if a business wants to keep running and grow the amount of returning customers they have then they need to produce satisfactory work and treat customers like people and not dollar signs as they walk through the door. At first this place appears to be just another nail salon, one of the (seemingly) millions this city had. However, my experience was outstanding. The service is wonderful, the salon itself doesn't smell, no one is pushy, and they are great about asking before providing services. They have a wonderful selection of nail colors and the most amazing massage chairs. I don't live in the neighborhood but I do plan on making this my go-to stop for reasonably prices and high end mani-pedis. read more

Come here only because it is convenient. I've only gotten a manicure done but they do a decent job at it. The color stays on for more than 2 weeks with very little chipping. Just be aware that they can be sneaky. I pay extra for nail hardening and quick dry and they always try to not give you the quick dry. Instead they slap on the oil that is usually on top of the drying machine. Don't let them fool you. If you pay extra for quick dry make sure they are putting the liquid drops on your nails! They also like to stand in front of you while you get your money out to tip. Very rude!! All in all not a bad place for a quick manicure but if I lived in the area it def would not be my usual nail spot. read more

They pressure you into more services than you requested making it a very uncomfortable environment when you said no 3 times already to a massage. 2) they lie about the wait. I went in there and they told me 10 min for a pedicure. After I watched others complain about how long they've been waiting, and others who just walked out..I should have managed my own expectations better than they managed mine. 10 mins turned into 45 minutes and at that point I lost all patience. I told the manager how I felt about them lying to me about the wait and I left. Be careful of this place. They shelled out $72 from me for a normal, basic mani-pedi. Yes, no joke. They kept adding on things to my basic services. Taking out dead skin from the feet is additional $10. Fixing a broken nail was additional $5. French tips - additional $5. The mani- pedi should have cost me $35 + $20 for the above mentioned extra add ons (I was only informed of the $10 to scrape dead skin). It still does not add to $65 with tax and no tip. $1 for the nail hardening thing (I think that's what she said but I had never asked for it) etc etc. I asked her to explain twice how it added up to $65 and it was hard for me to understand the accent and since the entire place is listening to this conversation, I just gave in and paid and swore to myself that I am never going back. I could get a man-pedi in the area for $25 and it was NOTHING special so I will not pay $72 again to nail bella! But to be fair, yes the place is clean and the staff seems nice. read more

One thing is, as in other reviews, be very clear about no extras, if you don't want any, because they'll try to get you to pay $1 for fast-dry coat, and sign up for extra massage. The prices are good, $12 for regular, no frills manicure. I've been going here regularly for 3 years because it is very close to my office. The pricing is definitely on the higher end - but the quality of their service is also high - and consistent. You can walk in and usually be taken right away and be assured of a clean impeccable mani or pedi no matter who takes you. For me - it is worth the convenience and the assurance of a really thorough job - to pay a little more. I have been in rush and gotten a quality pedi in 30 min and I've also treated myself to a Spa pedicure and enjoyed a leisurely, relaxing sit. (The massage chairs are great - and ALL working, unlike some places.) You should note the place is a little small. You can get a great chair massage (Rosie and Esther are the best at this) but the chair will be set up in the manicure area right in front of the polish display and you may have people choosing polish over your head. You will also be asked if you want "extras" and charged for them. Callous removal is $10. Nail hardener $3, "Quick Dry" top coat $1. There really aren't any great deals nor are there discount cards as most salons have now. Credit card minimum is $15 - "Tip in cash" is their mantra. All that said - they are the best in the neighborhood. Price is the only reason I wouldn't give 5 stars. read more

I just got back from the worst pedicure of my life from this place! There was an Indian guy that did my pedicure. He didn't know what he was doing and out on the nail polish so thick. He told me to dry my nails for 3 rounds of drying but I dried it for 4.5 rounds to be safe. I came back home and the whole pedicure was still ruined. Do not ever go here!!!!
