I reached out to Steve because of the Yelp reviews. I needed some repairs on installing a new bathtub spout and lowering the water pressure (it was 85 Pis). Steve came out the next day to look the projects and to give me free quotes. He was very clear and gave me practical opinion about what needed to be done to fix. (Steve tested the water pressure that was working just fine). So he gave me a quote on replacing bathtub spout and his price was very reasonable. (Another company's quote me was 2 times more than his price) He was very present and what actually he did to install the spout was very complicated procedures, but his work was quick and clean. It wasn't necessary a bad experience but I'd like to share what happened: I called Plein Plumbing to come fix a leak. It was from an upstairs bathroom but we have an access point from downstairs so the pipe was easily accessible. Two men showed up, very friendly and all, and said the pipe needs to be fixed. I told them there's an Ace Hardware near by (about 5 minutes away). They went to the Home Depot which is 20 minutes away and charged me 2 hours for labor for a part they said is "basic" - I'm not sure why (1) they don't carry it in their van if it's a common model, (2) they didn't at least call Ace to see if they had that part. I was happy to pay since they did come with a short notice, but charging me for two hours when they could have done it in an hour? They also told me there's another area near the bathroom which has a slow leak - they were supposed to call me the next day with a quote but never followed up. Again they were friendly and on time, but I do feel like they upcharged their labor by extending the time/going all the way to the Home Depot. read more

If the services provided are as expected, then there's no need for me to provide a review. Occasionally, someone provides service well above what was expected. I want to commend Plein Plumbing for exceeding my expectations. I needed the wax ring replaced in my toilet. "Happy Plumber" wanted $680 to remove and replace the wax ring. "Plein Plumbing" charged me $140 for the same work. I had already drained the toilet tank and bowl. The time required was about 30 minutes from start to finish. "Happy Plumber" wanted $680 for the same 30 minutes as Plein Plumbing charged $140. Is Happy Plumber a rip off? Don't know as I didn't use their services. I do support Plein Plumbing if you want reasonable costs. If you have money to throw away, then maybe "Happy Plumbing" would be your best choice. read more

Honest and more affordable than other companies. They helped us out in an emergency situation and arrived quite promptly. Our hot water heater burst and our garage quickly became flooded. They arrived about 30 minutes later and were very professional and efficient. They installed a new hot water heater within the hour and were on their way. Even let us borrow a special light to help dry out our garage. Would highly recommend! read more

Should be no "stars" - I Do not recommend. Unprofessional entirely when I called to make an appointment. Gave me a two hour window and showed up 30 minutes late past the window time frame. Called to say they were at my house but they weren't and then just hung up when I said I needed the appointment time because I have other things scheduled. Super Quick Response! Awesome Service! Honest Man! So I had a clogged tub and we tried fixing it ourselves but didn't work. So I called Plein Plumbing yesterday Sunday along with a few other numbers because I wanted this to be done ASAP so I can take a shower in my own bathroom again. Steve was the only plumber that actually picked up his phone when I called, all others I had to leave a message on their answering machine. He made room for me on his schedule and came this morning super early to get the job done. It was not till he was long gone that the other plumbers started calling me back. I say that he is an honest man because as we don't know anything about plumbing and we thought we had done some serious damage trying to fix it ourselves. We were convinced that we needed a whole pipe replacing and/or possibly a whole new tub replacement. I think any other would have seen money signs all over our naive selves and gotten a huge job out of us! But he told us it was probably a simple job and went on to try to fix it and luckily it was just a big ball of hair. He got it done super fast! I was so happy, I couldn't believe it, had to hold myself back from trying to hug the guy. We had been so stressed out because we are about to list this place and don't wanna invest more money on this place! Super happy and satisfied both with his work ethics and fast response to my call. I've used Steve Plein in the past and had great experiences. Maybe he was having an off week, but my latest experience was not so good. There was a bad valve in my shower. He diagnosed it as an internal component that would be a relatively simple fix. BUT, try as he might he couldn't get the valve open to replace the bad part. He didn't seem to have the right tool to do it and even borrowed one of mine to try it. I had to order a new valve. Since he won't work on weekends (He goes fishing) a week later he came out to install the new valve. He had to cut a hole in the wall to get to the pipes. The cut was very ragged and when the time comes to replace the plasterboard, it will be far more difficult (expensive) to patch the hole than it could have been. I haven't yet found someone to patch the hole. On his first attempt, he installed the valve off center and wanted me to replace the tiles so the knobs could go in without a major gap around them. I wouldn't go for that and he redid it properly. He sat on the toilet seat do do the pipe welding and he broke the seat. A new seat to replace the one he broke with something comparable is at least $40. He let plaster and plastic pipe parts fall into the wall. They were wet and quickly started to smell like mold. I had to scoop the debris out of the wall and spray in an anti-mold chemical. His cleanup was mediocre. There was plaster and residue all over the bathroom. I hope he was just having an off week, because I used him based on the honesty and good work he had done in the past. read more

I have a comment similar to Jordan D.: recently I decided to create an account on Yelp to try to help those (few left!) professionals that still work very well and deserve positive ratings. Certainly Steve from Plein Plumbing is one of them. Many years ago we have been "victims" of a former plumber that came to our house to fix a water damage: they came with a nice looking truck, wearing clean uniforms.... blah, blah, blah... but the job was mediocre and the bill outrageous (we could finally paid it off in 3 years!!!). After this terrible experience, I became much pickier in selecting the professionals that come to our house and after some investigations on the net, I finally contacted Steve. Needless to say how happy I am because now I can count on a serious plumber, not expensive and with long experience. Beside fixing several issues with the house pipes, he also improved the draining system of my central air conditioning unit and installed a wonderful tankless water heater, so now I can have all the hot water that I want in few seconds all around the house (and the bills prove that it was the right choice!). read more
