The short story: George Baird provided excellent service,…read moresucceeding in clearing a drain that two other plumbers/technicians failed to clear. And they did it for a great price. I got the name of George Baird Drain Service from a friend who has used them on many occasions and said they have never let him down, The long story: My dad lives in a 2BA house in Clairemont that was built in 1960 (it has original plumbing, which is cast iron plumbing underneath a slab). The shower in the master bath and the tub in the guest bath both stopped draining last week. My dad called his whole home warranty company (Choice Home Warranty) who then sent out a local rooter service to clear the drains. The technician/plumber they sent out spent roughly *3 hours* there. He tried snaking the clog from multiple drains but was unsuccessful; he even put a camera down the drains to try to figure out the issue. In the end, this person told my dad that the only way to clear the clog would be for them to replace a portion of the cast iron piping with new PVC -- this would involve them breaking up the concrete slab in his bathroom floor, digging out dirt, replacing the piping, refilling the dirt, and then repairing the slab with new concrete. They quoted a cost of around $2400, and said that my dad would be responsible for hiring someone else to put in new flooring over the repaired concrete slab (suffice to say, that would cost him a bunch more money). I called a friend who is a property manager and asked him for his opinion; he recommended George Baird Drain service, who he said always did a great job when he called them out to unclog a unit. Taking his advice I did that. They sent someone out the first day to clear the drain and he was unsuccessful; but instead of giving up, he said that they had some people who sort of specialized in these old cast iron pipes and said the company would call later in the day to send one of those specialists out to try to clear it. True to their word they setup an appointment for one of these specialists to come out the next day. Sure enough this guy got the drain cleared, and he did so very quickly. It was as bunch of hair that came out, and now the drains have been running smoothly ever since. He said that these old cast iron pipes have a habit of creating clogs and so he wouldn't be surprised if every 1-2 years from here on out they end up clogging again. All I have to say is that if/when they do, I know who we'll be calling to unclog them, and that is George Baird Drain service.

I told the representative that I already had a quote from another company for around $7,000, and he looked at me like I was crazy and seemed completely unable to believe an AC replacement could be done for that price. Well, we went with the other company--and they did the job for $7,000, exactly as quoted. That's a $10,000 difference from Anderson's lowest offer and a staggering $37,000 difference from their original $44,000 quote. What made the experience even more questionable was that the person they sent out was a plumbing specialist, not an HVAC specialist, to evaluate and quote our AC replacement. I understand that companies have different pricing, but quotes ranging from $44,000 down to $17,000 for the same job, especially when another reputable company completed it for $7,000, is extremely difficult to justify. I was referred to TLC…read morePlumbing thru the Angi website and plumber David was sent to complete a re-route from the half-bath to the kitchen sink. It was not until the base cabinets were demolished that I saw that the new copper piping had not been run behind the drywall with steel stud safety plates, but just curved on top of the bottom shelf, completely exposed to possible damage from items placed back on the shelf. When the flood mitigation company arrived they immediately recognized that the new piping was not up to code and they contacted Thad, the owner of TLC Plumbing, to give him the option of coming back to correctly install the waterline, or they would fix it and bill the cost back to TLC. Thad came by my house the next day but did not tell me he was coming and did not knock on the door. I immediately called Thad back to have him return, but he cut me off and said he'd be back "between 10-12 the next day." He never showed up and ghosted me thru further attempts to contact him. It's also noteworthy that I had to contact Thad four times to get a readable copy of their work order/receipt. The flood mitigation company is now billing me $1100 for their professional fix, saying TLC is claiming I approved the non-code compliant approach. I was shocked when I saw the exposed piping and compared it to how the original pipes were installed in the walls. I cannot and will not give TLC Plumbing any grade other than an F and strongly caution anyone against using them.

They did exactly what they said they would for an extremely competitive price.

They came out but told me I needed to pull the toilet so they could jet the main line since I didn't have a clean-out. I did exactly as instructed, but they couldn't return the same day due to scheduling. The next day came... and they never showed. I later found out their truck had broken down. By the third day, I was put in touch with Flow Right, and that's when everything changed. Jess arrived right on time, immediately put a camera down the line to investigate, and explained every step clearly. His professionalism and knowledge were on another level. I learned that Flow Right typically handles major plumbing, sewer repairs, and renovation projects--not the simple small jobs. Jess stepped in as a favor to help out his family business and to help me out of a difficult situation, and I truly appreciated it. I was extremely impressed with the service. Jess is someone I will absolutely keep in mind for any large plumbing or renovation projects in the future. Highly recommended!
