Core Plumbing came out to give me bid for installing a Moen Flo leak detection device, the part alone cost about $600. The Owner Grant himself came. Please get plenty of other bids to compare to Core because the price differences are SUBSTANTIAL from other 5 Yelp star plumbers for the same job ranging fro $350 - $2500 for Core. I always use Yelp quotes for all my service needs. In answer to Grant's response to my review below, the plumber Grant calls "Handyman" who quoted the $350 for labor to install, is this solid 5 Yelp star licensed plumber called In "Open Line Plumbing". So I now changed my review to 1 star review because of Grant's response, below. I think he is a bully and comes across as the kind of person who has to "be on top". UNPROFESSIONAL ALSO TO BERATE THE 5 YELP STAR OPEN LINE PLUMBER AS "HANDYMAN", who has higher Yelp stars than Core! It was not in operation for 4 of the 5 years there ( I unplugged it). I feel Core Plumbing's price was outrageous and gouging, and that you should definitely call several other plumbers for their prices, because you may find that Core charges 150% - 300% more and the cheaper plumbers have just as high Yelp reviews. Here is my original 2 Yelp star review below before Grant posted his answer. I changed my Yelp 2 stars to 1 star with the explanation above. My plan was to pay $250 to remove another Moen Flo from another house that I am selling and have a plumber install it on this house. Grant arrivedl when another plumber was already looking at the pipes. I already got a bid for another plumber for $350 from another five Yelp star plumber who came out, and the plumber who was already present said they would charge $800 for both Moen Flo installation AND temperature sensor installation that was being required by my insurance company. My installation requires significant modification because of the lack of room for the MoenFlo. When Grant heard those much cheaper prices, he said his price was $2000 two $2500 just for the Moen Flo installation alone, labor only. He was bellowing loudly in front of the other plumber, that "OBVIOULSY WE WERE NOT A MATCH because I was a shopper for lowest price, and I was not someone who just accepts the first bid if he were the first bid!" Anyhow I am giving Grant 2 star because of his "gouging and ourageous" price, and his unprofessional bellowing and he appeared arrogant to me. Huffing and puffing that "We were not a match!!!". But I am giving this business 2 stars because the office was very diligent in their contacts with me to make the appointment through Yelp messaging, responding to messaging right away. When my wall oven broke, I bought a new oven but realized none of the newer models would fit the cavity in my kitchen because the existing gas line and the pressure regulator from the cooktop were hitting the back of the oven. I called Core Plumbing for an evaluation. Tony was very thorough in his assessment, answered all of my questions and was very honest about the potential issues that we could run into. We would have to cut the drywall, move the gas line and modify the angle of the pressure regulator. Once I agreed to the scope of the work, Joseph and Mikey came out to complete it. They were very knowledgeable and methodical in their approach and were able to complete the work. Their work was very high quality and they were even able to install the oven and verify that everything looked good. This was a project that multiple companies had refused since it was difficult to get right so I'm thankful that Core Plumbing was able to help me with this! read more

Kitchen faucet broke, we knew we would also likely need to replace the janky water heater we inherited when we purchased our house a few years ago. Grant came by, gave us an honest assessment and quote. My wife and I felt pretty good about their approach, so we added a house water filter too. Small job became a bigger job and they were able to scale up and keep the ball rolling. By the end of the day our old water heater was removed with a temp set up in its place. New water heater and filter were on-site. Day 2: Water heater (new tankless - requiring a new gas line) and kitchen faucet installed and running flawlessly. Day 3: Water filter installed and doing its magic. Core's plumbers are all professional and on-time. You'll receive text updates with the guys' names, photos, and ETA's the day of the work. They do good, complete work and clean everything up afterwards. All of this makes them unicorns in a post-pandemic world, from my experience. They back their work. (They even put up with my highly-reactive - thus barky - puppy very well.) They might not be the budget-friendliest solution, but you get what you pay for with plumbing in lovely San Diego. We'll continue to use CP if/when things come up and recommend them to friends without hesitation. read more

This is an edit to a previously posted review. I had some concerns about the price of the service I received, and the fact that the water supply to my toilet had been left disconnected. Within an hour of posting the review, Tim from Core Plumbing contacted me. He explained that the higher cost was due to water jetting the line, as opposed to just cabling it. I understand, and I did approve the work. Also, he apologized for them leaving the toilet supply disconnected, and he did compensate me for my time. All-in-all a good service. Issues with my water heater not venting. Got multiple quotes, he comes in and also sees it's not venting (like I already knew and called him for). After trying to quote me many thousands more than last guy, he also tells me if I don't get it fixed right away he will call fire department and get my gas shut off after I declined his initial quotes for full replacement. I told him I can just turn off water heater, and no safety issue. He kept making threats to intimidate me into instant service and I declined. He then reported me to SDGE after I declined to cave into his threats. Would never work with tbis guy. Simply turning off heater until it's fixed is solution. Now he's trying to get my gas shut off so I can't heat my home or use the stove. What a complete joke this is. Other plumber quoted me $600 he comes in and tries to fleece me for $8000 worth of extra stuff I don't need. read more

We needed a seismic gas shutoff valve installed. Grant came by, evaluated our options, and gave us a free estimate. After he ordered the part, we were quickly able to schedule the install. Everything from approving the estimate, scheduling, tracking the technician, and final payment went very smoothly with their Housecall Pro service. Tony and his apprentice installed the valve. We recently had to have our water service from the street to the house replaced, which of course meant digging a trench across the yard. I knew that the plumbing work would be top notch when I called Core, because we've had them handle a couple of other significant jobs that went really well. What I didn't expect, though, was what a great job Core would do minimizing the impact on the yard from the trench work. You can hardly tell a trench went through the yard just over a week ago!
