The short story: George Baird provided excellent service, succeeding in clearing a drain that two other plumbers/technicians failed to clear. And they did it for a great price. I got the name of George Baird Drain Service from a friend who has used them on many occasions and said they have never let him down, The long story: My dad lives in a 2BA house in Clairemont that was built in 1960 (it has original plumbing, which is cast iron plumbing underneath a slab). The shower in the master bath and the tub in the guest bath both stopped draining last week. My dad called his whole home warranty company (Choice Home Warranty) who then sent out a local rooter service to clear the drains. The technician/plumber they sent out spent roughly *3 hours* there. He tried snaking the clog from multiple drains but was unsuccessful; he even put a camera down the drains to try to figure out the issue. In the end, this person told my dad that the only way to clear the clog would be for them to replace a portion of the cast iron piping with new PVC -- this would involve them breaking up the concrete slab in his bathroom floor, digging out dirt, replacing the piping, refilling the dirt, and then repairing the slab with new concrete. They quoted a cost of around $2400, and said that my dad would be responsible for hiring someone else to put in new flooring over the repaired concrete slab (suffice to say, that would cost him a bunch more money). I called a friend who is a property manager and asked him for his opinion; he recommended George Baird Drain service, who he said always did a great job when he called them out to unclog a unit. Taking his advice I did that. They sent someone out the first day to clear the drain and he was unsuccessful; but instead of giving up, he said that they had some people who sort of specialized in these old cast iron pipes and said the company would call later in the day to send one of those specialists out to try to clear it. True to their word they setup an appointment for one of these specialists to come out the next day. Sure enough this guy got the drain cleared, and he did so very quickly. It was as bunch of hair that came out, and now the drains have been running smoothly ever since. He said that these old cast iron pipes have a habit of creating clogs and so he wouldn't be surprised if every 1-2 years from here on out they end up clogging again. All I have to say is that if/when they do, I know who we'll be calling to unclog them, and that is George Baird Drain service. read more

Excellent customer service. Fast appointment! Clean work. Polite and efficient work! It's not the 858 one. read more

Thanks again Kevin. Shower drain had to much hair clogged in. Kevin cleared it out. This outfit is awesome.

These guys cleared a drain in less than 15 minutes that two other plumbers from one company couldn't clear. Not only that, but the other company told my mom that her drain had collapsed and it was going to cost her $25,000 in plumbing work to tear apart her kitchen to fix the drain. Scammers. Then we called George Baird Plumbing Services and they cleared the drain in no time. I highly recommend this service. Thank you guys! read more

This business is affordable, arrives on time, and provides great customer service. I called around to several plumbers to get a quote, and they offered the best rate $40! Our property manager highly recommended this business, and I wish I had just listened. I spent around four hours calling around and price-checking to get the best deal. I didn't know the price of George Baird Drain Service when I decided to do this. Our bathtub and shower were both clogged. I tried home remedies, including hot water and vinegar. My husband attempted to snake it out and use a plunger to no avail. The call center representative's name was Carol, and the plumber's name was Kevin. Kevin arrived on time, completed the job quickly, and was courteous. We have a catcher in our bathtub but not in our shower. There was a ton of hair that clogged up our bathroom. read more

Best drain service always use them . Quick response and they just get it done. Trust there work.

He was available today(!) when I needed him, was on time, very helpful, was glad to give me advice when I asked. I think this was George's son-in-law, I didn't catch his name. He cleared an upstairs drain then asked if there was plumbing downstairs, below. Yes there is. He went downstairs to MAKE SURE he hadn't just pushed the clog further to cause problems there. Uh oh, now the downstairs bathtub drain (which was already slow) was backed up. But he cleared that too, and of course only charged me for clearing one drain. And it is a VERY low price. I've used this company several times over the past 30 years (it's a 60-year old house after all) and have always been VERY pleased with their work. NOTE I feel sure that most of the 1-star reviews are actually people who used the imposter company without realizing it. As the real company states here on Yelp, "With our business we just unclog the drains. We don't do any plumbing work. Do not Call the 858 number, they are not us." The imposter company uses the website "bairddrainservice" - don't go there looking for George! The real George Baird drain service do not have a website. read more

George Baird Drain Service (619-462-8229) just cleared another kitchen drain for me. Have used George Baird for over 31 years now, as they are the best in the business! If customers do not speak directly with "Carol" (619-462-8229), they have dialed the wrong phone number and wrong company.... Thanks Carol, Jess, Kevin and the original George Baird Drain Service Team @ 619-462-8229, as you guys are great! Happy Customer. read more

George Baird Drain Service "The Trailer Guy," with his "powerful drain cleaning trailer," just cleaned my main line pipe system at a great rate. Don't be fooled there is another Baird Drain Service, however the Real Pro's at "The George Baird Drain Service Company," phone # is 619-462-8229. Again, 619-462-8229... Absolutely incredible. Fast, efficient and very reasonably priced. Would 100% book again.

Late last nite, I was dismayed to see so many 1 star reviews for George Baird Drain Service. But in the past they've been honest, efficient, and inexpensive so we decided to use them again. Today, we called them up at 8 AM and they were able to get someone out here 4 hours later. Within 15 minutes Rob was able to fix the problem for $50. I will definitely use them again. read more

Nothing but praise for Baird!!! The other day my brother and sister-in-law had a clog in their kitchen sink. Through their home insurance company they would've had to wait five days for an appointment. As my sister-in-law was making that call, an advertisement for Baird popped up on my phone... She called and they came the following day. They fixed the problem and only charged her $40. Nothing but praise for Baird. read more

Stay away from this company and George. Terrible service! He was rude and lacked patience when communicating with clients. While trying to fix my clogged drain, he broke my toilet seat. I paid him, only to realize that he didn't fix the issue at all. I called right away to come back or refund me. Guess what?! They blocked my phone number because this is how they treat their clients. He will take your money and leave you with the problem and then block you, so you can not complain. read more

Baird drain is one of the best drain companies, they won't try to bait and switch you and take you to the cleaners. I trust them and recommend them. read more

First of all, this is the REAL George Baird Drain Service, who's phone # is 619-462-8229. There is another company which is claiming to be this one but is NOT. Their # is a 858#. I have used George Bairds service for many years, unfortunately, as my house's plumbing is 70 years old. Today I called for an appointment to unclog a kitchen sink and Joshua arrived in the time frame I was given. He was polite, friendly and fixed the problem in just a few minutes. It was not under the sink. Their price is almost unbelievable. I am astonished that they are so reasonable in this day and age. This really helps a Senior as I am. I highly recommend them. They are the best!! read more

We had to call for a plumber today and when he showed up he got right to it. Handled it quickly and neatly. Then charged us a great price and he was on his way. We will save this companies in the Rolodex for sure. . Thankful for the great work I had 900 dishes todo after not having a functional sink for a bit there. Now I gotta get to work. read more

Excellent, fast and inexpensive service.Great personality. So very happy solved my problem in no time

They didn't fix my clog, just tried to upsell me on hydrojetting. A waste of money. I won't ever be using them ever again. They sent someone out to my house on the weekend for a clogged kitchen drain. He tried to snake it but said he couldn't do it with the snake and I'd need to pay $1500 for hydrojetting. I asked him again to try to clear it with a snake and he said he couldn't. I said no to the hydrojetting and paid him for his time. My regular plumber came on Monday and snaked it with no problem. read more

I live in an old house. It has lots of plumbing problems. George has responded quickly and inexpensively to each one of my problems. He is my go to guy. His team is always respectful and helpful. He often suggests things I can do to alleviate the ongoing problems. I recommend him highly. His work is strictly about drains, though, if you need bigger work, you need to go elsewhere. read more

Amazing service, knowledgeable tech that was very thorough and made certain to answer my questions. Very fair prices.

Nothing but the best in every aspect of their service. I cannot say enough to recommend them. They are quick clean and friendly. The cost is reasonable and has remained the same for years now. I wouldn't consider using anyone else. There is more than one George Baird using the name, but only one legit who has been in business for years at 619-341-9238. They will unclog your drains and charge a more than fair price. Never ever a rip off. Honest as the day is long. read more

I requested service at 7:30 am on Sunday. I received a text from an independent contractor plumber 4 hours later and he said he would come by after 2:30. At 2:40, he texted me that he was going to be there soon but that I had to pay in full before he even got to the house. I have used George Baird before and this has never happened. We always pay after the service -- and sign for the service when they get there. He claimed it was because it was Sunday -- ??? So I said I could pay after he did the service or we could reschedule for not a Sunday. He then said the earliest was Tuesday - WTF??? I called 7:30 am to be put off two days??? So I said that's not acceptable, we will find someone else -- and he sent a THUMBS UP. I called the emergency service again and the lady sounded very taken aback and said she would have the manager and dispatcher call me. Here it is, 24 hours later, and no call. Sad to say this Service has gone way down hill and I can no longer recommend it. Go elsewhere -- I did. read more

Josh came out next day to clear a completely clogged bathroom sink that I could not get with my Home Depot snake. Not even 2 minutes after he started, everything was flowing smoothly again. Amazing work, great guy, and super friendly. I could not believe they only charge $40 for this service when estimates from other companies were in the $500 range. Tipped him 100% as he definitely deserved it. He also gave me a couple referrals to other companies that he knows for some other issues I have. This is how to run a business, no frills, no upcharge, just guys who know how to do what they do extremely well and get in and out quickly without passing any judgement on you for what caused the clog or your messy house. read more

A tale of two Bairds. I thought I was calling George Baird but instead I just called Baird. They said my drain could not be unclogged and had an estimate that ranged from 3,280 dollars to replace main pipes at 13,000. I was really upset at such an high charge. However, I decided to call George Baird who showed up at my house, unclogged the drains for 40 bucks. They didn't try to sell me. They came here and unclogged the drain in like 5 minutes while just plain Baird spent two hours with lots of bad news. Lots. George Baird is who you want my friends. read more

Make sure you get the real George Baird Drain Service. Robert snaked our drain which now runs just as it should. He was professional and a nice young man. Call 619-341-9238. The 858 number is using the Baird name but it is not George Baird Drain Service. Robert stated this type of "name taking" is not uncommon in the industry. The charge was as stated. No upselling. read more

I've had so many home repairs come up this year and when my kitchen sink got clogged, I was dreading having to call a plumber and incur additional costs this year. I wanted to make sure it wasn't something simple, so I checked the p-trap myself. I tried all of the boiling water and baking soda/vinegar remedies. My neighbor let me borrow his manual snake but I couldn't muscle it myself. My coworker said she had a kitchen clog as well and she was charged $300 and they snaked it for her. I went on NextDoor to find plumber recommendations and I ended up calling Duane Moore Plumbing. He was booked up that day but didn't want to leave me hanging so he gave me numbers for two others to try, one of them was George Baird Drain Service. Kevin was my technician and he came on the early side of the window. Very pleasant and friendly to my dog. He brought a 25' snake and cleared my clog for just a fraction of that price! I was really curious about the process and he answered my questions as he was snaking the drain. And he was able to clear it very quickly! I'm so grateful to both Duane and Kevin for saving me so much money on such an annoying problem. I'm recommending both companies to any of my friends. read more

It's been years since I've used George Baird Drain Service. I have been using a local plumber that did all plumbing services that was wonderful and trustworthy, but sadly he passed away. Ever since i've been trying to find another all-service plumber that is just as trustworthy and fair pricing, but have yet to find the right one. For services other than drain clearing, I've been paying $165/hour so when my washing machine pipe decided to overflow, I know I needed to get someone who was more reasonable to snake my pipe. Thankfully I remembered about George Baird Drain Service. They are absolutely the best! Baird was at my house within hours of calling, started snaking the washing machine pipe and knew quickly that it wouldn't clear it enough, so he switched to snaking the kitchen sink, which the washer backs up to. When he realized it needed more, he climbed up on my roof and snaked the main pipe. Cleared! Altogehter he was here for 30 minutes and charged me $50. As a widow, looking for someone I can trust is very important. I am thankful there is someone like Baird that is very honest and beyond fair in their pricing. read more

Oops! Had our sewer drain cleared yet again today but on the upside it was done as usual promptly, professionally, and reasonably priced. Nick is great to work with. May not be back too soon though as we might now finally get the issue causing these repeated blockages fixed.
