The collard greens were swimming in vinegar and water. The miniature Hush Puppies are hard to describe but I've been down South a lot and these things shouldn't be allowed to claim the title "Hush Puppy ". Soft shell crab sandwich! Hard to find and well cooked. The potato salad was yummy. I appreciated the small potato chips that was included. It was busy, but once others there before me were waited on, my food was ready and warm. Wish they had salads and more soups that are not pepper-spicy. This is a seasonal restaurant therefore, be cognizant of the dates that you come. If you visit after December, they will not be open. Come in July, they will be open. Use the dates of fresh seafood and you will be fine for when to visit. This is a great place to get fresh cooked seafood. While they are a bit pricey, the food is good and you can just grab and go. While I think this is a Great place, there is no real variety for the selections year over year. I would love to see them cook or have fresh fish other than flounder. Why not Trout? Why not Red Snapper? If you want basic fish, this is a good place. Due to this place not having variety, I am giving them only 3 stars as I would like to see them do better when it comes to their regular patrons. Fresh crabs are in abundance here and are an area favorite. I prepare mine different, therefore I am not as impressed as others. But, they are very good and should be tried if you are in the area. Purchased a soft crab sandwich that was very good. Worth the wait! Lines were long but service was fast.

My last few trips here have been very disappointing. As soon as I ate the crabs I bought I instantly felt sick with a tummy ache. I ordered 1 dozen male #1 and they had a special when you buy a dozen you get a 1/2 dozen free. My husband ordered large steamed shrimp platter and he got sick as well. As soon as he was done eating them he vomited them all up. Not sure if the crabs and shrimp were old or sat out there too long but we will never be back. Without a doubt, one of the most disgusting meals my wife and I have ever had. As new to the area, we were in search of at least a decent seafood experience and the local reviews seemed to suggest a try. There is not one single item we bought, any of which are way overpriced, that had at least a milligram of flavor. $37 for 2 crab cakes that at at best we're on the poor side of fair. Calamari that was flavorless and chewy. Fried shrimp cooked in flour you could still taste. How in hell do you take ALL the flavor out of a shrimp? Ore-ida French fries are 10 tastier than the undercooked and flavorless crap we were given. Cream of crab soup was, at best, mediocre. For nearly a $100 meal, we deserve a refund of $90. And than they have the nerve to ask for a gratuity. This is takeout for goodness sake. read more

The last time I was there I was highly disappointed. I ordered 2 clusters of crab legs it was more like one cluster and two extra legs. I figured I order two more and the same thing happened again. Affordable and quality.....a rare combination. They're seafood is fresh, and great tasting at a very good price. Went here at 11am when they opened up thinking I'd be the very first one.....boy was I wrong. People started coming in left and right for their orders. Crabs are the main focus here, and the prices are very good (and you can get #1's #2's or females)...the prices do indeed change...so ask each time (et al...the market price here does indeed follow the market). #2's had a special of $1 a crab......on my most recent visit I've tried that as well as a crabcake sandwich (which I am pleased to say wasn't overloaded with filling....there were nice chunks of crab in it). They sell ALL KINDS of seafood raw or cooked (from fresh Rockfish to Calmari....from Octopus to a variety of clams)...they seem to have it at the very least fozen. It would be one of the first places I might check for a specialty item if I needed it....they seem to have a good stock NOTE: this place isn't really a restaurant...it is take out with no seating at all except for a bench to wait for your order. Or you can browse the place for lotions and soaps that they seem to sell on the side (which is kind of odd.....and way out of place). read more

The parking lot is made up of broken white shells and on a sunny day is very bright. Walk into seafood paradise. I was leaving the Delaware and wanted my last seafood kick. Ordered a bunch of seafood and sat on the stairs eating. Everyone else ordered crabs to go with heavy seasoning. It was 11am and there were 4 people ordering crabs. I ordered a mixture of fried seafood and steamed seafood. Everything was perfect. Perfectly seasoned and cooked, I could not have asked for a better farewell from the area. There was also a very nice memorial to the father of the family who had died but had started the business. It's always nice to see a family run business succeeding. If you are in the area, stop by. Some of the best seafood I've had in the Delaware shore area. The restaurant is take out, though there's picnic tables outside. You can buy both prepared food, and fresh seafood from their market section. They carry everything from scallops, crabs and sea-bass to muskrat. I ordered fried clams, fried shrimp and coleslaw when I went with my dad. He ordered fried oysters. The food was well seasoned and well fried, hot and fresh. Not too much breading and not too oily. Served in a brown bag with paper towels at the bottom and a plastic. Nothing too fancy, which was perfect. The coleslaw was just right, not too vinegary, not too mayo-y, not too mushy and not too crunchy. Plus we went right before closing time and they gave us extras. I am definetly going back to this spot when I want fresh seafood. Plus they gave us a pen with their name on it. I'm all about personalized local business merch. read more

First time I came here i ordered a dozen crabs. I guess I ordered too early in May because all they had were females and it's not differentiated by size. They were not the best but I really wanted crabs so I got what they had at the time. Females were full of bright orange stuff. Lol. Not their fault because I agreed to the purchase. Just wish I had known the difference. The 3 stars is more for the customer service over the phone when I placed my first order and again for my second. Just not that friendly. I've never bought any of the cooked food from Pleasanton's, which is actually a seafood market that gives you the option of cooking it for you. I've seen picnic tables outside on occasion, but this isn't really the place you come here to eat - it's more of a take-out place. On occasion, I've seen a local produce stand set up shop at one end of the parking lot. All the seafood I've bought at Pleasanton's has been exceptionally fresh and very reasonable. Oysters, crabs, scallops, salmon, catfish, shrimp, and other seafood are available fresh. There's also a selection of frozen, imported seafood off to one side. I didn't take an extensive inventory, but I definitely saw alligator meat and fish heads in there. Important note: this place is generally closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. This Memorial Day, however, I noted that they were going to be open - judging by the crowds I saw there the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, they were going to be packed that day, too. It should also perhaps be expected, but this place has an exceptionally strong fish odor to it - you'll likely come out smelling a bit like it, especially if you wait for a bit inside the building. read more

True local seafood joint. They sell fresh fish and cooked fish to go. There is no seating. We came here on vacation and feel relativity confident there isn't a better place to get local seafood. If you do a google search for "deleware local seafood" you fill find a state hosted link to a PDF listing all seafood joints providing seafood that is harvested from the deleware area. Most others restaurants seem to get their fish from elsewhere! Anyway, on our first visit we got the calamari, fried shrimp and fried oyster sandwich. It was all super yummy, but the portions were kinda small. The fried oyster batter was a little dense. On our second visit we got 6 female crabs, fried crab balls, 2 different kinds of crab soup, the shrimp platter and a dozen steam clams. Again, all very delicious. This the first time I have ever had crabs that were so clean on the inside (and outside). Their gills were white, not muky like I am used to. And the flesh was pure white. The service was very quick and they are very friendly. My daughter couldn't wait for the food, so they gave her a bread roll while we roamed around. I was told that I should try their fried salmon next time. They have a couple standing tables outside if you choose to eat right away in the parking lot. They lie about having crabs they do not have. It's simple, if you don't have crabs to sell do not lie on the phone to customers or sell over the amount that you have. They have done this multiple times to myself and family and they are unapologetic about it. Secondly, when I bought large crabs they gave me small crabs and pretended as if I did not place an order for large ones. They have a habit of making you look stupid and this is not the first time. This is not the place to go to and leave without checking your bag because I promise you when you get home you will be disappointed. There's nothing pleasant about Pleasanton. Honestly there needs to be more seafood places in the Dover/Smyrna area so this place can stop wasting myself and others time. read more

If I could give this place a zero I would! They have terrible coustomer service skills and they are all liars. I recently called and ordered a dozen and a half large female crabs which they told me they had available, and once I wasted gas and arrived to the establishment they gave me the most tiny crabs I have ever seen in my life!! The girl at the desk lied and said no-one told me that they have large crabs and claimed maybe I heard her wrong "because it was loud" but it wasnt loud I could hear very clearly. Not only did they lie about what they had available at the store for me to purchase but once I got home to eat my crabs I only counted 15 crabs! I ordered A DOZEN AND A HALF which is obviously 18 not 15!!! I called and the owner was rude and I was hung up on twice. The owner eventually told me the she would call me back Thursday to help with my inconvenience but she never called and I had to call myself. Once I called I was hung up on AGAIN and they have a young child taking their calls! The owner was rude and in no way tried to make up for my inconvenience. I feel the employees were very rude and all tried to lie to save their asses because they knew they messed up. I feel they tried to test my intelligence! I wonder how they treat their customers that don't look like me..... I will never return to Pleasanton's and I advise no-one else to go there either unless you want to be called a lier and want your money to be played with! Terrible! Terrible! TERRIBLE! read more

This is a seasonal seafood market which is only open in the summer offering fresh fish crab and lobster. You can either order uncooked or cooked with seasonings. I have been there a few times for shrimp and whiting fried with old bay seasoning very good. A little pricey but the only place you can get cooked fresh seafood takeout only no place to sit. read more
