Went here one day its walking distance from the holiday inn, ordered the fried portobello appetizer you get plenty of food but the mushroom was cut so this the center didn't cook all the way through I ordered a crispy chile relleno to go I asked for ground beef when I get back to my hotel I pop it open to realize there might be a stable spoon worth of ground beef in it. Went back a few days later to sit in the bar area I put music on through touch tunes no sooner than my music starts playing music starts coming in through there sound system I asked the bartender if she could shut of the other music she said yes but never did I ordered a queso dip to snack on the cheese was watery and pretty tasteless the plaza in amarillo wasn't bad but I will not be returning to this one anytime soon read more

We arrived right when the workers were arriving. My BFF Patti said at least the food should be fresh. LOL. Patti always wants Tex-mex before leaving TX. So we tried this place before leaving & they did not disappoint. Their staff was amazing also. We ordered a small queso that was not small by any means but you know everything is bigger here. We also ordered the avocado salsa which really didn't look to much look like a salsa more like a guacamole w/no tomatoes or onion. LOL For our entrees Patti decided on a combination plate of drumroll: of course (eye roll) as always, chile relleno & something new a stuffed sopapilla w/ground beef. I opted for a stuffed beef avocado that was fried to perfection. Their beans & rice were so flavorful & delicious was says a lot because normally beans & rice are so bland to me & just for show. That I just take 1 bite & never come back to them but I kept coming back for more. Their chips and salsa were also very tasteful. Some places just give you tomato sauce but this had a nice blend of flavor to send your palate spinning. We both agreed to comeback! read more

This is 1 of the few places in Dumas to grab a decent meal if you're staying at the Hampton Inn. I love that it's located close to the hotel and that our food was prepared exactly as ordered. I tried their shrimp quesadilla and my husband got a bean burrito. Both tasted good, but were quite oily/greasy. A few weeks ago my husband and I ate here. The waitress basically stole $100 from us. Here's what happened- I asked our waitress to give us a bill from another table. A kind gesture of paying it forward. My husband gave her our card for our bill. She ran our card for our bill. He added her tip and signed the receipt. He sat the receipt on his side of the table. I then placed the other tables bill with a $100 bill on my side of the table. Th waitress somehow charged our card for both bills, and pocketed the $100. In doing so, she also took the tip from the other tables waitress. So she stole from both of us. I contacted the manager, who talked to the waitress, and said she admitted to doing it. We did a chargeback on our card, and The Plaza knowing exactly what happened disputed the chargeback and won. How? I don't know. I have text receipts of all of it. On top of that the food was mid and the frozen drink made me sick, most likely due to not cleaning the machine. read more

I recently traveled to Texas and stopped in here to get Tex Mex. The service was a tad slow but super friendly. The food was excellent. This place allows you to order enchiladas with what you want. I chose brisket, avocado and cheddar cheese with salsa verde. The refried beans were very tasty. The salsa was terrific and with fresh cilantro. The chips are light and crispy, and the salsa is delicious. The food is pretty good. Better than average, but nothing to write home about. It is absolutely overpriced. The last time I went with my sister, we separated the bill, and my bill alone was $34 before taxes and tip. I had two margaritas, a fried cheese appetizer, and a chili relleno and enchilada combo plate. That price is absolutely ridiculous. They should have better happy hour prices and better happy hour hours. If they were more reasonably priced they would get much more business. read more

Excellent Tex mex for a traveler wanting Mexican food as traveling thru. I had the enchilada skillet and it totally hit the spot. The grilled onions, yum I could make a meal out of them. This place is horrible! The fajitas taste like what I would imagine roadkill tasting like. When we told the manager she said she tasted it and it was good. The server then proceeded to ignore us & not bring our bill until we asked repeatedly. The queso was like what you get at a convenience store. Ate in our car because we had our dog with us. They got my husbands order wrong but were super nice about correcting. He left us phone in all the confusion and they came out to look for us! Food was excellent. The spinach enchiladas were made with fresh spinach- wonderful! Im a vegetarian but my husband said the beef in the fajitas was very tender. The food is great " California chicken" along with the plates were hot. I would recommend this restaurant. The waitresses are very quick with service and the Plaza has a fully stocked bar. If you want some more heat in your salsa, ask for the hot salsa. read more

The vibe is pretty chill but the food is a bit overpriced for me. I asked for a virgin Piña colada but it was really gross. I will say my shrimp cocktail was pretty good the flavor was really good. My husbands quesadilla was not what he was expecting. Very simple and flavorless. As the for chip and salsa. Chips were warm and like any other Mexican restaurant. We travel through Dumas a couple of times a year so we've tried many restaurants. We were surprised to find this new place we had missed. This is s chain with many locations around west Texas. The chips and salsa were very good. I actually added salsa to my dinner to perk it up s bit. The menu is so extensive it is hard to make a choice. My husband and I both got a stuffed sopapilla and I also had a chicken stuffed chili pepper. The pepper was crispy fried but tough to cut. The sauce on both our plates was just cheese. The food was ok. I think we would have been more pleased had we ordered something with more spice. We would try again and order differently. read more

Good Mexican Restaurant. Very popular with the locals it looked like to me. FRiendly to tourists as well. Fresh ingredients well-prepared. SErvice was attentive. The service was aso paient with some special requests, especially looking for anything left behind. Much of their after-dinner serie was searching for misplacd medial devices the and mobile phones of some customers. I would make a point of coing here again the next time I am in Dumas. The Plaza was just an average Mexican food restaurant. The food was bland with nothing exceptional. The chicken enchilada had no taste and they charge $15 for chicken fajitas. It's new, so the building is nice, but there are other Mexican food restaurants in Dumas I feel that might be better. read more

I travel. I am used to ordering food and then hopefully, it comes out correctly. These days, I order to be picked up and usually eat in the hotel. This place is exceptional. The food is excellent, and I am a fan of good Mexican food. The food is well prepared, and comes with chips and salsa, unbidden. The portions are plentiful and well prepared. The service was bueno but the food not so bueno. Honestly Taco Bell is authentic compared to The Plaza. The atmosphere is decent with a bar . I recommend driving to Amarillo to Braceroz on 6th street or Pablanos on Tyler street. read more
