Storefront and moniker of Plaza Mexico.

Spring Hill is quickly becoming another "home away from home" for me as my sister lives here now. Ergo, she knows whenever I come visit, we gotta hit up a restaurant to further give creedance to the status I was given here. Mexican food (of any kind) is one of my favs, but I must stress that over the years, many Mexican restaurants have been very good in general that a very good Mexican restaurant is now the new average. Mexican restaurants need to do little things here and there to stand out, thus earning the rare four out of five-star review. So did Plaza Mexico, the first Mexican restaurant I've eaten at here in Spring Hill, FL, stand out to be past the average? I can happily say yes, Plaza Mexico has the unique trait of standing out, thus earning a rare four-star review. Plaza Mexico (which I will shorthand simply to PM for the remainder of the review) is located on Forest Oaks Blvd., but not that far east from Commercial Way. The business is not hard to spot out as it utilizes the decor and color scheme often used for Mexican restaurants. I might even say such colors and decor may be American characterizations of Mexican culture, too. The aforementioned could be said about the interior, but I must stress, which was presented in a very good way. The lights were these beautifully blown glass orbs of multiple colors. The wall art was these paintings that had reliefs with lighting. Finally, the table furniture wasn't quite grandoise. I will say it: presentation goes a long way. The food was delicious, but just like the decor, it had a bit of flamboyance that made it look more appealing. As a family, we had the Nachos House Special, Three Amigos, Molcajete, and chimichanga. We did share bits and pieces from other's plates, but it was so delicious. The price of food is probably on the higher side of the norm, meaning high 20s to low 40s depending on what you get. However, as mentioned earlier, the food was very delicious, and it looked flamboyant, too. On a sidenote, the restrooms were clean and stocked, and my family and I showed up a little before lunhime, so maybe that is why there was a very short wait until we were seated and recieved service. Overall, I will give Plaza Mexico four out of five stars. I will definitely return and if they are consistent, it will be my honor to grant them their fifth star for cosnsistecy

The place really surprised me. It was so nicely decorated and spacious . I had their takeout before and was very impressed Dining in- don't order the taco salad bland If you order the sangria it comes in an impressively large goblet (Make sure you have a designated driver, it was potent! I'm gonna give this place another try and we'll see right now. In a scale of one to 10 it's a four.

Everything about this place is great! Best Mexican food in town! Check it out! Too bad I do not have much food to post. I ate it all

I should be ashamed to say that my friend and I visit Plaza Mexico about 2x a week for margarita flights, but I'm not! They are such a fun treat. They don't quite equal the size of a traditional margarita when combined so we don't need an Uber to get home. There are a mix of flavors with either tajin, salt, or sugar rims, so there's a good variety. We also choose a meal from their enormous menu. These flights are served on an airplane serving dish.

I highly recommend Plaza Mexico for stellar, fresh Mexican food!!! Service is great 10/10- the staff are all so kind & attentive! Drinks are beautifully curated and sooo tasty. I've tried several items on the menu and everything has been delicious! My favorite might be the chicken tortilla soup. It's hard to pick given a large menu with lots of tasty choices!! I love the menu options and variety of fresh made food. Can't wait to come back!!!

We decided to come back here after a long time of not eating here to try again..Chips and Salsa, salsa did not wow me, salsa was bland and Chips were not warm...ordered Beef Fajitas and Quesabirria Tacos...Fajitas were served hot and fresh and the portions were generous and they had a great flavor, they should really include cheese for the 22.99 price to put on your Fajitas, see ed with Rice and Beans..but they were excellent...the Tacos were delicious. They were served with a big plate of Rice which was not even warm and was flavorless, but the Tacos were delicious...service was excellent! Restaurant is beautifully decorated as well...

Food is always good and consistent. Large portions and they have a new menu with some new options. Seems the newer items are a bit more authentic. Staff is always personable and it's always clean.

This trip, I brought a friend and we finally made it. The food was a mix of excellent and not‑so‑great. The peel‑and‑eat shrimp were absolutely delicious, the mussels were great, and the fish sides were wonderful. Chicken strips were solid. The mushrooms, however, were not enjoyable at all in my opinion. The building has a lot of old Florida charm, but it's definitely due for a thorough update. One thing that concerned me was the warm ketchup sitting on the table -- sauces that can spoil should really be brought out fresh with the meal. The staff I interacted with were fantastic -- very kind, well‑mannered, and quick with service. I've read some concerning things about how the manager treats people, so I'm grateful I didn't have any encounter with him during my visit. The band outside was extremely loud, so we chose to sit indoors, but at least there are options. Watching the alligators in the swamp below was definitely entertaining. The place is huge, but the entrance is confusing, and I had to ask where to go. Overall, I can see where improvements are needed, but I can also appreciate the charm and history of the place.

You basically look into the kitchen when you sit at the bar. We made reservations for 6:30 and the place was hopping. My friends and I started with their fish dip, which was very creamy and fresh. They also gave us a complimentary order of the Fishnet Onion appetizer, which is thin onion rings. That was also very tasty and crispy. Two of us ordered a cup of their clam chowder. It had a bit of a kick to it and was very delicious. The oyster crackers were stale though. Both of my friends ordered the Grilled Crab Cakes, which I tried, and it was slightly crispy on the outside but moist on the inside. The order came with 3 cakes. Very good indeed. One of the orders came with sweet potato fries that were soggy. She didn't eat them, but our server Alex noticed and took them off her bill. I ordered the Fried Oysters with a baked potato. The oysters were fried perfectly and very tasty. All of our meals came with hush puppies, cole slaw and one side. I also ordered a Gin Cucumber drink that was prepared just right. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Our server was super nice and the food was great!

Fernando was our server and he was absolutely wonderful. Dave got the Craft IPA and Fernando brought us fish net onions and dipping sauce. They are like delicious wisps of onion rings. So we ordered 12 blue claw crabs, cooked and cleaned in a garlic and oil sauce. We were surprised that they were available. We usually call before we come and they hold some for us. They came with coleslaw, hush puppies and a side of large onion rings. ( Dave's choice of a side.). I ordered little neck clams steamed in olive oil and garlic, my favorite and we gobbled them up lol! The crabs were out of this world, juicy and so fresh. The sauce was light and not salty. Fernando was an excellent server and made sure we had everything we needed. The sun was setting as we left, large and orange and the moon was rising. What a beautiful evening with my best friend and Freckles, since they are very dog friendly.

They were steadily busy throughout the evening so a wait is possible if you were to arrive at peak time. The setting is casual and in an old house- hence the name. We shared the onion loaf to start and had a variety of dishes around the table from steak, lobster tails, grouper, scallops, and the multitude of accompaniments. Everything was cooked beautifully! Especially the scallops. That was probably my favorite since they melted like butter in the mouth. I also enjoyed the hush puppies that were served with every main dish. Bonus points for the fact that many of the dressings and sauces are made in house. Since it was an occasion, we had some chocolate cake for dessert which didn't disappoint.
