This place is such a gem! My family thoroughly enjoyed a Father's Day dinner here and though they don't take reservations, we were able to be seated quickly. They were steadily busy throughout the evening so a wait is possible if you were to arrive at peak time. The setting is casual and in an old house- hence the name. If you ask to be seated in the back room, you'll have a view of the lake. The servers were very friendly and efficient. Food and drinks were prompt! We shared the onion loaf to start and had a variety of dishes around the table from steak, lobster tails, grouper, scallops, and the multitude of accompaniments. Everything was cooked beautifully! Especially the scallops. That was probably my favorite since they melted like butter in the mouth. I also enjoyed the hush puppies that were served with every main dish. Bonus points for the fact that many of the dressings and sauces are made in house. Since it was an occasion, we had some chocolate cake for dessert which didn't disappoint. The cake was rich and fudgy. My dad is a regular so I am definitely sold. The man is a critic and if he is impressed, I know something must be good! I was also impressed and can't wait to come again. read more

Went there last night for their lobster special. I was very surprised by how delicious everything was. The lobsters, although frozen, were cooked to perfection. The seasoning was spot on and the size/price for two lobster tails is unmatched. I had the cheese grits that were probably in the top 5 I've ever had and that's coming from a southerner. The asparagus with the sauce was outstanding as well. The portion size of the sides were big. The hush puppies were good but could have used some dill or onion to elevate them like the rest of the food. The service was fantastic. The place is the perfect size for this restaurant. They have all the specials on the board for the day. Easy to read menus. Excellent and highly recommend. read more

Nice southern service. Very clean place actually. Looks like it was redone not long ago. It has a rustic inside but not beaten up or anything. Gator bites was good. Kids liked their chicken tenders. Cheese ball appetizer was good also. I liked the catfish. It is not a grouper. So don't expect that if you do order it. Acquired taste a bit. Grouper was also great btw. Reasonable priced. We will be back here. read more

This place had amazing food we were visiting from California and happened upon this place. Our waitress was amazing and she recommended the blackboard fish, which is their fresh fish and recommended the Corvina, which I had never had but ended up being absolutely delicious. I would definitely go back and they have some amazing Keylime pie. read more

They have a great variety of fresh seafood, and an extensive menu that has something for everyone! If you're visiting like we were, try the gator sausage and pick a fish you don't find in other states! You can choose your method of cooking (grill, broil) and the way you want it seasoned. We had a large party and they got everyone's orders correct, which is impressive! Do note they don't accept reservations, but we were lucky enough to get seated fairly quickly for a large party on a Friday evening. read more

Outstanding food and service. Don't judge the place based on looks, old fish house vibe. Bathrooms very clean.

Somewhere I read that if you're a fan of Harborside, you'll love Harrys.... Anyone who has read my reviews will know I am NOT a fan of Harborside, except for the gorgeous view, so I kept that fact to myself and reserved judgement for after the meal. Ashley, our server, was super knowledgeable, very attentive and wanted us to enjoy our meal the same way she would want to enjoy her own. She laughed at our jokes and made sure that we left fat and satisfied! lol We ordered the grilled hog fish (fresh catch) with stuffed shrimp and the Chicken Pinot Grigio. Yep, I chose chicken at a local seafood place, but thats just me. ‍ Either way, everything was as great as Ashley promised! My only complaint is the noise level. It could have been just because it was Halloween and the dining room was crowded, so I wont judge. We did miss out on the lake view because it was late and dark when we arrived, so I cannot compare it to the only redeeming quality at Harborside. A return visit is definitely in the cards! read more

Friendly, efficient, helpful staff. Justin the bartender provided great service. The food was incredible. If I find myself on death row, I'm ordering my last meal from Harry's Old Place. A wide variety of fresh fish is available. We both ordered grouper. The fresh vegetable was green beans and they might have been picked this morning. Hush puppies were the best I've tasted. We sat at the bar and planned to move to the back with its view of the lake. But as the place filled, we chose to stay where we were. Good choice. I hope we pass this way again. I wouldn't hesitate to have dinner at Harry's. In fact we were disappointed we had to head home and couldn't come back the following night. read more

Has been a while, but we're back. The entrance is fresh and inviting. Nicely updated restrooms AND a hand-washing station is also available. Love that! Service was congenial and efficient. Super nice! The food is as good as we remembered. Sweet Tea in a giant Mason jar was fresh and crisp. Most folks won't need a refill. ;-) We can happily recommend the Tossed Salad with Blue Cheese Or Ranch dressing. Served cold and fresh - very nice. The Fried Shrimp and Oysters are still favorites. Nice, light batter and prepared well. Definitely consider these options! The Fried Catfish was 2 big filets. Wish the batter was a little lighter, but very good. We enjoyed the tartar sauce, too. Too full for dessert (again) but will try to plan better next time. read more

I came here in November 2023 and I ordered Margate broiled in lemon butter, Gator Bites, and French Onion Soup. I also had cheesy grits and french fries as my sides. On a Saturday 1PM, seating was instant even though it was packed. I originally wanted to try the Cobia fish but it was unavailable. All of their available items were on the board. 8 minutes after ordering I received complimentary bread and butter. It was warm, chewy, and satisfying. The French Onion soup was yummy too. It has gooey cheese and was not too hot. The soup also looks deeper than it is. As a tourist, I was most excited for the gator bites. It had a sour and salty taste, like a strange chicken. It came with a sauce that felt like a variant of thousand island. It honestly reminded me of orange chicken, but way more chewy. I personally enjoyed the gator bites a lot. The cheesy grits were a miss. It was too salty for me and I struggled to finish it. The fish was pretty average. It remind me of catfish, which is unfortunately my least favorite fish. I personally wasn't a fan of the flavor but glad that I got to try something new. The texture was good though. Overall this restaurant is in the middle of nowhere but has good food and pretty views. read more

Went on a rainy Tuesday night around 5:40 and it was packed. Had to wait about 40 minutes for seating but worth the wait. A big draw for retirees - so go for a later dinner If you don't want to wait as long. We tried the gator and pork sausage appetizer plus pimiento cheese and crackers. A little pricey, but a fun unique choice. My husband had the strip steak and it was very tender. I had haddock and key lime pie to go. The hush puppies were my favorite - as far as tasty goes. read more

We tried to call and make a reservation at Harry's because we were driving two hours to meet my wife's nephew and his wife were also driving two hours at Harry's cause it was exactly midpoint between Sarasota where we stay in Florida and their home in Florida so we wanted to be sure that we get in and get a table. Well as it worked out my wife's nephew Richard got there early and got us a table because they refused to take a reservation and the food was very good. I had a small salad and we shared an onion loaf for the table. My wife had their French onion soup. Richard had a fillet and my wife and I shared a piece of fish that was wonderful. We had it blackened. It came with mixed veggies and rice. Everything was good. I won't say that it was great, but everything was good however, when I finished the meal and I asked for a cup of coffee, the waitress said they had no coffee which I didn't understand and she tried to explain to me that their coffee maker left or something and I still didn't get it if it's a restaurant and it's an operation what does it take to go out and get a coffee maker anyway if they had a cup of coffee I would've given them five stars. read more

I visited Harry's Old Place in Winter Haven tonight for the very first time. It is a very cute and welcoming place. I was greeted and seated right away. My waitress, Taylor was so friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered a filet and asked it to be topped with crab. When it came out it was not as expected, undercooked- I asked for medium rare but it was very rare and the topping was cold. I hesitated to say anything but Taylor noticed and immediately asked what she could do to make it right. She ended up recommending mahi with a garlic sauce topping which was delicious! The GM Cody came over and was just as kind. I will for sure be back and appreciate them for not making me feel bad (or worse) for returning the first dish. read more

A wonderful little local place- The seafood was tasty and fresh, and there was a huge variety of options (both in fish type and preparations)! I'm from Southern California and used to travel a lot in Florida and wanted want I refer to as a Florida seafood place. Saw the 4.4 on the reviews and thought what the heck I'll give it try because it was open till 8 pm. It was absolutely amazing and well above my expectations on all aspects. Service and food were simply outstanding. Not a 4.4 for sure, is definitely a 5.0 plus. I Had the Covina with their heavenly sauce and my friend had the swordfish with heavenly sauce. We had both fried shrimp and stuffed shrimp for appetizers. Had the mashed potatoes, collard greens, and asparagus for sides. All absolutely amazing as well. Had the bread pudding with ice cream and the banana Bundt cake with cream cheese frosting. Everything was well above a 5. read more
