Our server was great, but the food was a major disappointment. I ordered the tres amigos plate, which had flavorless carnitas, a bland chile relleno stuffed with ground beef, carne de res floating in some sort of vague red sauce, and a side of rice and beans which had no discernible flavor. Food is incredibly overpriced for what it is. $4 for a fountain drink seems like highway robbery. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for Mexican food. This isn't it. Not even close. read more

I can't give this place enough stars !! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and sat in a large booth which is always a plus since my boyfriend and I like to sit next to eachother on our dates. Immediately we were brought chips and salsa, and got our drinks and appetizer ordered. The queso with chorizo on top was AMAZING I can't say enough good things about how sweet and welcoming the staff here are. Everyone we spoke to was wonderful. Notice how I haven't even raved about our dinner yet food was DELICIOUS, I had shrimp fajitas and they were fantastic! Food portions are HUGE ! And for dessert we of course had to try the fried ice cream which is a new favorite! Beautiful decor in the restaurant and a warm welcoming atmosphere. THANK YOU EVERYONE! read more

I think it's a visual thing that makes it seem you are getting a lot of food.? The price was off the wall. Wife had enchiladas and again the price was ridiculous for Mexican food. We are Spring Hill residents and go out to eat quite often. First time visit. It might be our last visit. There are other Mexican restaurants in the area reasonably priced. First time here. Did not realize how big and colorfully decorated it was inside. We were seated quickly & served crispy chips and salsa. Our waitress, Kayla, was very good. Best margarita I've had in a long time! Our food was delicious. The enchiladas banderas (chicken, beef & cheese) came in 3's topped with sauces of the Mexican flag. My husband had fajitas. I wished we had tried the homemade guacamole made table side. It looked so good but we had already ordered too much food. We will make sure to order it next time. We had enough leftovers for next day lunch. Manager came out to ask how everything was. My husband was given a 2nd negra modelo beer on the house. What a nice surprise. What causes the 2 star review is that the food is overpriced, I have found places with great Mexican food with reasonable prices just around the block, and the drinks weren't great. This place is flaming out faster than the time they took to open. We were a party of eight. Our meals came out room temperature after apparently sitting it the kitchen for an extensive period of time. I'd estimate the restaurant was half full at the time of our visit. My plate was reheated in a microwave instead of being replaced which turned everything to mush. The server was professional and understanding and offered two $5 coupons. The small print indicated only one coupon per table on a bill of $30 or more. No thanks, we won't be returning. Subsequently, the coupons were left on the table. There are at least two other Mexican cuisine restaurants in the immediate area that should be considered well before being disappointed here! read more

We visited July 29. I was not impressed the first time I went here in April. The only thing on the menu that is good is the Guacamole . I got deathly ill 2 days later, was sick for 4 days. Then I saw where the restaurant was closed by the health department. I went to the health department site to see the violations and just about puked. I am pretty sure I had Salmonella from the rat droppings all over the kitchen and storage areas. I will never be back. read more

The service, atmosphere & staff were great. From former reviews we were looking forward to eating here. Unfortunately we were disappointed. I had shrimp fajita's & my husband had beef fajitas; there was plenty but there was no seasoning & they were very bland. We also had margaritas which didn't seem to have much alcohol in them. Also the chips & salsa were disappointing. We moved here from California where we're used to great Mexican food & still can't find anyplace comparable; so sorry to not be able to give a better review. read more

The food is always fantastic, salsa is home made & very good . The only problem I have encountered is the second dinning room " on the left as you go in passed the bar" does not have anywhere near the amount of AC needed to be comfortable in the Florida summer ... we were taken there for the first time this evening & I had to tell them I couldn't sit in there let alone eat hot Mexican food in there.. I know some folks don't mind a hot humid dinning experience but unfortunately I am not one of them . So now waiting on a table in the main dining room. Just wanted to post this so you are aware it's very warm & sticky in the dinning room behind the bar, it also has the main doors to and from the kitchen!!! Another source of heat & constant noise . I cannot say enough good things about Plaza Mexico. I first got take out and was astounded by how delicious everything I ordered was and they gave me a generous amount of their delicious chips and salsa! Then, I went to dine at the restaurant and was equally thrilled with the decor and ambiance of their inside and outside seating in addition to the food and cocktails being absolutely wonderful again! Lastly, I had them cater my housewarming party recently, I as well as my guests were beyond delighted with everything from the tacos to the queso fondito! I told them what I wanted and how many were attending and they planned accordingly! The catering came to my car fresh and at the time I requested! I could not have left my food for the party in better hands! So, whether at home, or out, or hosting this is the place to go!! read more

I lived in Mexico for 10 years. The food at Plaza is very bland, with very little authentic flavor. I compare it to a "Mexican" Bob Evans, if there were such a thing. Old people food. Plus, it's overpriced for what they give you. Two tacos for $10 with no sides. $15 enchiladas without the traditional rice and beans. Outrageous! Have eaten here twice. Once dined at the restaurant and once had takeout. The food was awful both times. I can only suggest going for drinks. The food is inauthentic and has no seasoning other than an over abundance of salt. They give you "queso" rather than real cheese in many dishes. Queso is simply a white, Velveeta-like cheese food product. Also tasteless. Chicken and carnitas are so salty, we could not eat them. The tortilla chips were fried in old, rancid smelling oil. We also ordered a tres leches cake. One of the "leches" was cool whip. Not even real whipped cream. Yuck. The quality of food here is subpar, at best. Skip it. read more
