I've been living 15 minutes from here for a year and I had no idea! Feels like you're the heart of Tampa but actually in a relaxed small town cafe. Great food, nice people, and close to me! Cash only on Tuesdays.

The wrong order

Ordered 2 plates of ropa veija. They decided to take it upon themselves to cross out what I ordered and give me piccadillo instead of calling me and asking what I wanted. Absolutely the most unprofessional thing. I didn't want this nor does my husband eat olives. Had to throw $40 worth of food away.

Have been at least 10 more times since first review . Have sent 3 people that have actually drove from Tampa to taste what i think is one of the beat Spanish restaurants in the state hands down . Again great prices and good sizes . You get what you pay for and oh so delicious !!

Ma-Sar-ick-town. We've all heard some doozies on how to pronounce it. This is the best phonetic I can get it. I wish I had a Czech Koruna for all the years we've driven right PAST this PLACE! (1 US Dollar equals roughly 24 Czech Koruna).. It always beckoned us. Oddly, we never beckoned back. LOL Until NOW.......!!!!!!!!! The oddity of the name runs over and into this Cafe. It's a curious place, of Czech heritage, that is known for a muy bueno Cuban Sandwich! Guess one could call it Cubaslovakian food? Upon our arrival, we were escorted through the 'Fireplace Room' to be seated in the 'South Room'. At Table #4, to be precise. We were 'tended to' promptly with a warm welcome and a drink/app order. Maria took over as I inquired of her, "Just HOW do YOU say the name of this place?" (Just hoping to hear MY version to be authenic! LOL) I got it right! I've been saying it right ALL these years. Okay, another Bucket List item checked off! Now comes the 'interactive' part of my review. I'll give you 8 seconds to guess what we ordered! 8 seconds is the length of a rodeo bull ride. IF those bull riders can hang on for that, ya'll can too! Got it? OR, give up? WE, as in My Fav Fab One & I ordered.....drumroll.......Cuban sandwiches! (What the heck did ya think we were going to get? geezz LOL) We both ordered the Regular Cuban Combo. That's a 7 inch Cuban and a choice of salad, soup or fries. Fab One got a cup of the garbanzo bean soup. I got a cup of the collard green soup. Both were incredibly full of flavor. An absolute joy to sop up with a bit of Cuban bread. I'd say it's safe to say most of us have eaten quite a few Cuban sandwiches in our day. In all kinds of different towns & settings. You'll likely know there can be quite a variety of the complexity between the bread and the bread itself. And that is part of the overall joy of one's eat to destroy Cuban sandwich mission. Cafe Masaryktown did not disappoint! The flavors were on point. The bread with that nice firm crunch that yields to the harmony of the ham. What an enjoyable interpretation of this venerable pressed slab o' bread. To be quite frank. Or surely. No, don't call me surely. To be quite frank, we could drop in anytime JUST to enjoy those soups again! A potent pot of plentiful pizzazz they stir up. Yummmmm But we can't wait to try more of their creative cooking. In closing, I'm now at that phase of, you know, kicking myself for NOT stopping in SOONER!!! Like, many years sooner! Tell them John & Beth sent ya!

I was devastated and then I found out they had moved to a closer location so I just had to wait for the grand reopening. Stopped in for lunch and was extremely happy I did. The servers were fantastic. Super friendly and helpful since I requested explanations of any menu items that I didn't know. Empanadas are delicious Ropa Viejo is tender and ohhh sooo flavorful! The piccadillo is on point and they make a cuban sandwich that is to die for!! Media Noche sandwich is delightful too. Soups are a tasty and filling treat that will warm your soul! (Plus cuban bread to soak up all the goodness!) It's a simple looking, quaint restaurant in a strip mall with the flavor of Havana bursting at the seams! I moved from the area but I place an order every single time I'm going to be nearby. Usually a large order because I get a few items and will eat happily for a week or so! Good portions are given also. There arent enough wonderful comments I can give about how much I love this food and when you see who's in the kitchen preparing these delicious dishes you can see it's made authentic by an abuela and abuelo! (I'm from Miami but not cuban so forgive my use of these words if not correct!) If you are seeking delicious Cuban cuisine stop in & you won't be disappointed! **Almost forgot about black beans and rice or the yucca and sweet plantains being some of the great sides they offer!

The inside is bare, empty and unassuming. The booths are ripped and tables wearing. Walls are missing paint and it looks like it hasn't been updated since the 80's although these owners have only been there for 4 years. But you just sit back and listen to the Latin music in peace imagining you are in Cuba as you eat. If ambience is what you are looking for, a to go order would be better. If none of that matters, take a seat and enjoy your food hot. Service is fine but I was the only one there If you're in the area make a stop

When we walked in, the place was quite busy with diners with most looking like they were enjoying their Cuban breakfast sandwich. My wife and I opted to order the Breakfast Combo #1, which came with eggs, choice of protein, hash browns, Cuban toast and a small cafe con leche. My wife went with sausage and I opted for bacon...this was after the lady behind the counter dissuaded me from ordering combo #2 (guess she's not a fan of the tomato sauce). We also ordered a couple of guava and cheese turnovers for a snack later. Breakfast was OK. Wished the eggs were fluffier but they were fine. The buttery Cuban toast was good and so were the cafe con leche...wished the coffee size was bigger. The biggest disappointment was the bacon, if you can call it that. When I first saw the bacon, I thought it looked odd...and my suspicions were confirmed when I bit into and tasted it. The texture was off and it had no flavor. Perhaps it was turkey bacon or vegetarian bacon, either way I wasn't informed that the bacon would be some weird facsimile of bacon. Surprised the lady behind the counter didn't try to convince me to change my choice of meat. We'll probably go back for breakfast but will definitely avoid ordering that strange bacon. Breakfast for 2 with the turnovers and tip cost just under $30.
