Was visiting family and we met halfway at this restaurant for lunch. We were a party of 7 and do it took a while to get a table setup. A little chaotic when we first checked in. At the cash register was a big sign that states: "Cash only". There is an ATM machine right by the cashier. Hence, the 4 stars. We ordered our food : beef empanadas, masitas, fish sandwich, Cuban sandwich, steak sandwich and ropa viejo. For drinks, we had iced teas and sodas. They came in huge, heavy glasses - like a tankard! I would say that the portions were large in general. Everyone loved their food. I enjoyed the ropa Viejo -it was very flavorful. The beef was tender and tasted very good. Our servers were friendly and efficient. They refilled our glasses constantly Will definitely come back here if we are back in the area. Just have to remember to bring cash!! read more

Our friends were excited to bring us to Lugo's when we visited. The food is delicious and brought back some good memories for hubby whose parents were from Cuba. The paella was very large and fresh. The Mango shake, tostones rellenos and bistec sandwich were exceptional. The server was so friendly and took her time going over the menu when us. We will be back!! read more

The servers were great, food came out quickly and was hot! Very important. Very tasty food, and I had never tried plantains before, but I love them now. Portions are great. Loved this place and will take our family here when they come to visit. read more

The food was tasty ; Cuban pork sandwich was OK but a bit soggy for takeout. In addition, the crispy pork chunks with a tender interior were soft but the portion was small. I would have given it 4-5 stars if the portions of rice, beans and pork were 1/3 larger. You got 3 chucks of pork and 2 small scoops of rice. Check out my pictures if you doubt it! read more

First timers eating Cuban food! Boy we liked it! We had one pork dish and one chicken dish. The garlic, lemon sauce on the chicken was fabulous! Both had rice and beans and fried plantains. We ate and had enough for dinner too! Really enjoyed ourselves. Was very helpful too. read more

Love the food and service here it's amazing to eat here. I would definitely recommend going here for food.

Our party of seven rolled in at 6:00pm within one hour of closing on a Friday, which in hindsight probably wasn't the best idea, but it turned out to be one of the best meals I had during my short stay in Dunnellon. Immediately, we were sat in the back room intended for larger parties by our waiter who was very pleasant and extremely attentive to our order. He must have realized we had been dehydrated from a long day on the river, because he gave us a large stein full of iced water after we sat down! Each one of us had a wide variety of dishes that absolutely hit the spot in terms of Cuban flavors and spices. The portions were enough for everyone to pack to our Airbnb for a late night "second dinner". This place deserves every star! read more

Outstanding Cuban Food! Very authentic.. Highly recommended! Cash only, which is it bit inconvenient. Well worth a special trip. We'll be back! read more

Went there for the first time on Sunday June 7. My wife and I each had a Cuban sandwich. They were the BEST Cuban sandwiches we have ever eaten. So large that we could take half home. The French fries were unusually good too! They had to be for me to get excited about fries. I know it's a limited sample, but we intend to go back! Note: They require cash. There's an ATM available. read more

The food is amazing!! The Cuban sandwich is the best around! The paella is out of this world! Sweet lady that serves us is always there with a smile and warm greeting! It's a decent size place with a lot of Cuban decor and history. Can't believe this place isn't busy all the time!! read more

This place is AMAZING! Food, service, and ambiance were all top notch ! The food is flavorful, fresh, and mouth watering. Ordered the tostones rellenos which was sooooooooo flavorful and tasty, the ingredients went so well together. I love the Cuban sandwich- the bread was crispy and the pork was soooo juicy and I could not stop eating it even tho I was really full. Hubs ordered the Jenny's special and he said even the tomatoes on his plate were soooooo flavorful it blew his mind. The food here is made with love! Our service was amazing, we had a young gentlemen and he was professional and attentive. Can't wait to come back and try more! Thank you for a first great experience read more

We placed a to go order for our family of 5. We arrived early but were welcomed in and offered a place to sit until our order was ready. Our server made sure to present each order to us as he boxed it up so that we could be certain we were leaving with the correct order. The food was great, both adults and kids were happy with their meals and there was plenty to make two large meals from the portions provided. Thank you Lugos for a great meal! We will be back for a visit on our next trip. read more

I'm giving it 5 stars just for the bread/sandwiches. I don't go too often because it's a bit out of the way, but the fish and seafood seemed fresh. read more

We had a very good meal. The food was excellent. We shared Ropa Vieja and Masitas de puerco. The meat was tender and flavorful. Dessert was a chocolate coconut cake which was home made, even the chocolate ice cream was special, not a cheap store bought flavor. Also had Guava pastry with cheese and Cuban coffee. We will be back again. They don't serve wine so BYOB or run to the store down the street for a bottle! read more

This is our new favorite restaurant. We didn't realize they were closing in a half hour when we arrived but they treated us warmly and welcomed us anyway. The service was good. The service the food is beyond the best I go every year that I come to this port of Florida so worth it!

Don't forget to bring cash. They don't except credit cards. That's the only complaint I have. Excellent service and great food

Attempted to eat here with my wife last weekend. My wife went in first to ensure we could park behind the restaurant and was told we could. I walked in and my wife was already seated at a corner booth. As I made my way to the table, I noticed a sign by the register informing customers they only accepted cash, while at the same time also noticed an ATM next to the register. I immediately told her we had to find somewhere else to eat. Here's my issue: I understand if you don't want to charge customers a fee to use their card, but it is a slap in the face to force them to use your machine to withdraw money while you gain the fees from said machine. The place smelled wonderful, but I cannot speak to the quality of the food provided. read more

Excellent food and service. I had the seafood paella and it was delicious. Lobster, shrimp, mussels and fish all cooked to perfection. My wife had the Ropa Vieja and it was also delicious. The portions are big enough to take home leftovers. It was our first time but we will be back often. *Warning- they take cash only. They have an ATM in case you forget read more

Formally, or AKA ,Penn Station, this charming grill features Cuban food, and homemade ice cream! A group of 15 of us, with reservations, went for lunch and, other than the restaurant was very cold, heard no complaints. Many do us got the. Cuban sandwich, mine was excellent, warm press toasted roll with pulled pork, ham, cheese and pickles, served with fries or rice and beans. Those with the fries said they were hot, fresh and yummy! My rice and beans were good, rice could have been hotter but the beans were steaming and mixed together they were good. Parking is in back so no problems there. read more

Bored with Mexican? Try Cuban!! This was our second visit and quality and service remain top notch. They have awesome food. Really enjoy their Pollo rellenos c/camarónes. Excellent fried plantains.

For food: the cuban sandwich was very good- flavorful, good bread and plenty of meat Service: the waiter has the personality of a gnat! He must have a bad day! Ambiance: nice little restaurant. Thế ventilation was poor. The fume from the kitchen filled the air in the dining room. My eyes stated to feel burned! We gave a little over 20% tip because the sandwich was very hood. We will come back but for to go not dine in read more

This small Cuban restaurant full of flavor, is exquisite. I usually find "cash only" restaurants all over the world, so I made a habit of asking or checking before sitting down and ordering. You will find cash only places, especially in small towns. Now, the food is amazing; the more you eat, the hungrier you get. Everything was good, and yes, the employers are Cuban, as I mentioned is a small restaurant atmosphere, very casual, but they do have an English speaking waitress now. I didn't have a problem ordering as I point and try to read to them what I want, another custom I got from moving around. This place is trying to keep the essence of the Cuban cuisine. As I'm writing this, I'm waiting to pick up the food I just ordered from them. Authentic & distinctive! read more
