Their food is amazing! I'm from Miami and this food is delicious and authentic. It's a lovely place to dine in as well. Highly recommend!

My wife and I received a gift certificate for this place from our friend and realtor after we closed on our house in Ocala, having moved here from Central Texas. Located in a strip mall anchored by a Roses Discount Store, the place looked dark from the outside and the "Open" sign didn't appear to be lit but we knew they were open because of various Open yard signs in front of the establishment. Upon walking in, we were seated right away and presented the menu. They have daily specials but they didn't have pernil, although they had lechon asado like most of the Cuban/Latin American restaurants we've tried in the area. I ordered the lechon asado which came with yellow rice, fried plantains and red beans. My wife tried their Midnite Cuban sandwich. The lechon asado was flavorful (but of course no crunchy skin) and the yellow rice was good as well. My wife's sandwich, however, was a disappointment! The roast pork had an off taste and was gristly...she had to remove that meat from her sandwich. I tried her roast pork and was thinking of sending it back but my wife just removed all the meat from her sandwich. Perhaps we'll be back but definitely not ordering the Cuban sandwich again. Lunch for 2 came out to just over $30 with tip. read more

We usually come here when we visit family. My husband's favorite place. The food is delicious. Service is good and portions are quite large. Definitely good value here. We love the masitas- fried pork chunks. The beef stew is awesome. Today, trying the ropa vieja- one of the Friday specials and the breakfast , Machito. They make good French fries here. I just moved recently to Ocala from South Florida being a Cuban I sometimes like to eat some Cuban food at a restaurant even though I cook Cuban food at my house. Like the steak sandwich (pan con bistec) it was very well seasoned the bread toasted and the onions caramelized. Excellent this is the first place that I have my steak sandwich made so well. Service was good and fast. The only problem with this place are the hours it close at 4:00 pm and Friday and Saturday at 6 pm. closed on Sundays. I guess you can only have lunch or an early dinner. But I highly recommend this place for a good Cuban pan con bistec. The place was also very clean. read more

Finally, a place in Ocala with good Cuban food. The restaurant is currently expanding the dining area, which is much needed. We went during lunch time so there were a number of people there. The menu could use a few more items like mariquitas! All in all, a pretty good selection of food. We ordered the steak sandwich and a croqueta preparada. Both were very good and well presented. I'd you want pastelitos you better arrive early. We managed to grab the last guava and it was only noon. There is ample parking and it's easy to get in and out. Would definitely return. read more

Unexpected surprise. We finished up some business, were leaving town and we were actually going to a different restaurant but it had closed for Good Friday. Consequently, we ended up at this little gem and I am glad we did. What a fantastic surprise. It's a husband & wife team who make amazing Cuban dishes. The cup of chick pea (garbanzo) soup and the Galacian soup (Caldo Gallego) were incredible. Had we not had a long drive ahead of us I would have taken some home with me to enjoy once again. The garlic shrimp with authentic "arroz morro" was fabulous as was the yellow rice with black beans and Palomillo steak. I am going to have to make an excuse to drive to Ocala just to eat here again. More rapping later. My notes said: "Pretty damn delicious food and decent service close to closing" They used to only sell Marzipan here. It was called "Latin: A Marzipan Cafe." Ocala hasn't been exactly the epicenter of good experiences for me, in fact it was one of my worst days in Florida, from the traffic to the mediocre food, to the gym experience (don't read that one on a weak stomach), but there was one glowing highlight and it was this delicious Cuban place, out of the way and well worth the detour. They used to only allow Cubans in here, Americans were banned. But now they "Let in Americans Cafe." Service isn't amazing here, but I was happy that they gave me food not too long before closing time, because that's all I really wanted at the end of the day (literally). Their restrooms used to be party central. Always a live band in the can, crazy right? It was called "Latin A-Merry-Can Cafe." And the Cuban food they gave me was nothing short of delicious. It was the first Cuban food I had in Florida out of about 30 different Cuban meals (yes I ate probably 30 cuban things in 2 weeks, don't judge), so it was pretty exciting for me to get kickstarted on the Cuban wagon and it was very delicious, and ended up being way better than several of the subsequent things from other places, for that matter. They used to only sell Seafood. It was called "Latin: A Maritime Cafe." I haven't had all of the top ones in Tampa and Miami yet, although I've undeniably had some of them and still have more to find and try, but I can say that while this isn't the number one Cuban food in all of Florida, it's so good that if it were in Tampa or Miami it would be right at home, and still worth trying. You can't give Cuban food in Florida a higher compliment than that, and this is easily five star delicious food. They used to be more selfish and diabolical though. It was called "Latin - A Machiavellian Cafe." Besides, it's so far and above anything else in Ocala out of what I've tried so far, that I almost feel bad that it's here. Ocala, enjoy this. It's a gem. What a good find! Came for lunch after kayaking at silver springs state park and it was just the thing! Had the Shredded Beef Friday special (really delicious and flavorful, big enough to share for light eaters), empanadas(big!), and espresso (rich and dark and sweet). Boy do I have mud on my face! On two separate occasions I invited 2 different Yeeps to meet here for lunch. Only problem was my current review was old and not good *embarrassed* None the less we met here and they both discovered how wonderfully authentic the food was and had a great conversation with Manny about the food. One of my Yeeps has also returned on his own on several occasions! I've had probably 1/2 the menu and everything is incredible. The portions are huge and the prices are on point. Tis is a Cuban café in every sense. It's small but large enough for large families and they have a counter for those that want a quick bite and to gab. A great experience. The food was fresh and delicious the coffee reminded me of the way my mom used to make it. You definitely felt like you were eating at your grandmother's house as you walk in you can smell the food that was being made. The restaurant was super clean and the hospitality was amazing. I got Cuban beef empanadas that are HUGE!! I also got a churro and some fried yuca. To drink i got a passionfruit milkshake which is to die for. At least, i think so. Then again i love passionfruit in general sooo.... Anyway, the churro is fresh and delicious and the sauce that comes with the fried yucca is nice and tangy which is a great contrast to the subtle flavor of the veggie. I love everything i ordered despite the mixed reviews for this place. The service is great and family run. Everything was hot and fresh. It's another hole-in-the-wall which i think adds personality. By far the most disappointing Latin food claiming to be Cuban...it is crap on a plate. White rice is the most basic staple in Latin American cuisine, today we were served under cooked hard rice, The black beans were runny and lacking flavor. The bistec palomilla was shoe leather tough way over cooked. The plantains huh, both the tostones and the plátanos maduros were greasy. Everything had the same taste most likely old oil and one fryer. This is a Supposed to be Cuban comfort food our mothers raised us on this was horrible. The staff saw we did not make dent in the serving, yet not one person had the guts to ask why or act as if they cared. What a waste of $26 read more
