We went for lunch today--girls afternoon out. We started with strawberry margaritas which were large and potent. $6.75. We were served the house chips and 2 different dips: traditional salsa, and a mayonnaise-type dip. Both were excellent. We had the guacamole made table side. It was fantastic. We had medium. It comes in mild, medium and hot. We had lunch #5. That was on special for 4.99. It was a burrito covered in an excellent red sauce with cheese, a small taco and rice. Highly recommend ! read more

Being from Texas and growing up on Mexican food I've struggled to find good Mexican food in PA. This is the first place I've been to that I would come back to. I ordered the Burrito Mex. A tortilla filled with seasoned steak and grilled onions. Topped with a cheese sauce, a generous portion of guacamole, pico, and sour cream. Best burrito I've had in a long time. The beans were on point. Flavorful. The rice was very good but was more reminiscent of true Spanish cooking than Mexican. The staff was attentive. Worst margaritas...I ordered the ultimate & it tasted horrible! I never do this but I actually returned the drink for one made with patron and it was even worse! We almost left because the music was so loud we could not have a conversation. After a THIRD request, the manager did lower the volume, but it was raised again prior to our departure. Beers and margaritas were served in plastic cups- gauche! Food was only marginal, meat overlooked, veggies barely present, not authentic in the least. Never again. My Wife and friends eat at The Plaza Azteca on Woodland Rd in Wyomissing Pa at least twice a month. the food quality is always excellent and the staff is professional and very curtious everry trip. This place is nice.. The only thing authentic is the guacamole they make. The food isn't authentic but it's good! I had a good time with my girls... The waitress was in la la land for most of the time. One rule for anyone visiting this place is " if u want service then don't tell the waitress to go away while you review the menu because she might never want come back to take your order... It took her 45 mins to come back and take our order..Lol ... Yeeup 45 mins later she came back because we send another waiter to wake her up... She was just standing by the door chilling... Came here before years ago and it was great...so i was back in town and came back and to start it was crappy service..sat me in a table that had dirty dishes and wasnt wiped down..vegan food came with meat in it...and well done steak was medium rare. This is the best mexican restaurant in the area. The food is authentic and absolutely delicious. All the ingredients look and taste fresh. My favorites are the enchilada suprema (beef, chicken, and cheese enchilada covered in cheese) and the burrito chicken espinaca (chicken, grilled onions and spinach covered in a spinach cream sauce). Terrible Fajitas, lazy preparation of ingredients (onions, green peppers, etc). Totally hated the half cut onions and tough steak and chicken. The $8.50 Margarita was so weak, maybe 1 shot in it for a 24 once drink, terrible. Overall my wife was somewhat pleased with this place but not me. The outside lights are not all on so other than all the cars outside you would think it was closed. We went here Saturday just my wife and I and only waited about 20 minutes. I ordered a regular Margarita which was very good. The chips and salsa were very good especially the white sauce. The red salsa was heavy on cilantro but still good, and both were not very spicy. Overall our meal was very good and authentic, the only complaint i would have is the Chili Relleno I ordered was not spicy at all and the outer layer was very thick and doughy, which I am not used to. The service was very good and our server was polite and attentive. Will definitely be going back. read more

I've been coming here since this place has opened and I have NEVER had a bad experience here. I've taken many friends here and my girlfriend and they have always been impressed. I often just get the dinner combos, but I also get the Chipotle burritos and they are awesome. Also, if you come here, do yourself a favor and get a Margarita (but don't plan on driving soon after). It is a sad state of affairs when a gringa makes better fajitas than a Mexican restaurant but that is exactly what happened today. First I ordered what i thought was a Fajita and quesadilla platter which turned out to be a fajita/quesadilla mix. It was the weirdest thing ever and didn't resemble anything I'd ever heard of or had ever seen in all my visits to Mexico, or any other Mexican restaurant for that matter. So then I sent it back and got the Fajita which was a mess. The vegetables were haphazardly chopped as if by a blind 6 year old. Some hunks were huge uncooked wedges, others were tiny overcooked slivers that were mixed with extremely dried out bland chicken. It was dry and horrible and I could barely choke down one fajita, which by the way I had to try to make negotiating over a sizzling hot pan without a spoon. I had to try to scrape the food off the pan with a fork and knife. We would have ordered an appetizer but after dropping off the drinks, the waitress disappeared and left no time for one. Excellent Mexican food at reasonable prices. We love going here and have never had a bad experience. Fresh chips and salsa are complimentary and always delicious (PLEASE add fresh cilantro to the salsa PLEASE - its my only real complaint.) I routinely get the fajitas (maybe 10x) with only one visit with them being slightly overdone. Every other dish I've ever tried has been above average to excellent. The rice and beans are above average and everything seems to be made from fresh ingredients. I've had 1 margarita here and it was quite good. Recommended. read more

My Wife and I went here due to a friend recommending it. Not sure why it is getting such high ratings, our food was bland and boring, we also noticed that every dish we ordered with cheese, came with a fake cheese whiz/velvetta sauce, Yuk! How about using some real cheese? I am not Mexican and I can make better authentic Mexican food at home. Normally we eat at Alebrije on 5th st highway, and will continue to do so. It's a chain restaraunt, not nearly as distinctive as their web site implies and the food and drinks were average at best (we won't even talk about the carnival music playing much too loudly). If you want something more authentic, go into one of the the neighborhoods of Reading. read more

This is a great Mexican restaurant. It is a chain around the country, but this location is especially good. Their salsas are always fresh and service is good. Restaurant is large and can seat many people so there is almost never a wait and if there is, it is usually less than 10-15 min. Good prices, good food, good service. ¡Muy bueno! read more

Every time my family goes out to dinner or for lunch we go here. This place is amazing. The wait can usually get long if you go during prime rush hours, weekends around noon and then around 5PM. Other times there aren't many people in the restaurant and getting a table should be very easy. The waiters and waitresses there are nice and very friendly. The chips they serve are usually cold but it doesn't bother me, I mean they're chips. The sauces they come with are very good and the guacamole is perfect, comes in a nice bowl and is hand-made in front of your table. The food there is good as well. The portions are quite large, better than previous Mexican restaurants I've been at. The sides are alright, I always go with the rice because I like it much better than the re-fried beans they serve. The wait to receive your food isn't too long even during peak rush hours. The dessert there is amazing, they've added a lot since the first time I've been there, but it's been all good from what my family has told me. I usually don't get dessert as I'm full from my main dish. My family is also very close to the manager who's very friendly and is always looking on how to make the restaurant and dining experience better for his customer's. In all I would definitely rank this as one of the best restaurants around and would take somebody out to eat there most definitely! read more
