I came in on a Wednesday night, after hearing great things about this dining establishment. I came in by myself and sat at the bar. The what I though attentive waitress gave me water, and a menu. I immediately knew what I wanted within 5 minutes, as displayed by closing my menu and looking at her. It was not until approximately 30 minutes until the waitress acted like I existed. I essentially felt like I turned invisible after she handed me my drink. I understand that the restaurant was semi-busy, but no-one should have to wait 30 minutes just to PLACE their meal order, especially at the bar. As a result, this was a highly dissapointing experience. The food itself is what you would expect, maybe call it slightly above average. With the poor service, I don't know if I will ever come here again. read more

Crowded, we were seated on a Friday night in less than 20 minutes. A party of 6, chips and salsa and a creamy lime creama were satisfying while we decided on our main entrees. We had: two crispy taquitos, shrimp fajitas for 2, a tostada plate, a chimmy ( not what he thought a chimichanga was going to be tho) and a series of sides for our last order. First, they brought me out completely the wrong meal (some kind of meat tacos when I ordered the vegetarian enchiladas), and then I checked my bank account today and noticed that I was charged double what my bill was! We just finished eating at Plaza Azteca and it was Excellent Mexican food period. The tableside guacamole is a must. I will ask for it more spicy next time... and there will be a next time. I dined here last night with friends and can I tell you this was some of the best food I have had in a while. Very authentic, pleasant service and I recommend highly getting a glass of Horchata to drink! Let me tell you it is not easy finding Horchata. I'm sad to say this place has started going down hill. They have changed the menu, changed the recipes, and increased the drink prices with their fancy new drink menu. I ordered my standby favorite of chimichangas only to be terribly disappointed. No longer was it in the form of a fat, folded rectangular burrito that had been fried; it also was drowning in the too, too salty white queso sauce. I pulled apart the small, tubular rolled tortilla only to find the shredded beef had been overly salted as well. I could not finish. Additionally, they typically have plenty of staff for the rush hour. This was a Monday night and we arrived well before the tables were even half filled... Yet we waited over 45 min for our food which did not appear. My son finally went looking for the manager as our waitress seemed to be MIA. The manager did bring our food shortly after with the excuse that they "got busy". Too bad. Another place I have recommended to many and have driven over an hour to eat at, will fall to the "last resort for Mexican food" list among Berks County restaurants. read more

This is a nice Mexican Restaraunt Given the choices out here in farm country. The food was delicious and they give plenty of chips and two dips. I have been to many Mexican Restaurants in New York and Pennsylvania but this one is by far the best in every posible way. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and everything come out super fast, not a lot of waiting time. Plus they play real Mexican music. Only downside was the horchata wasn't as sweet as I like it but that wasn't a problem. If I ever come back to the area I will definitely eat here again read more

After a soccer game our family was looking for somewhere to go. We found Plaza Azteca and it was around 20 min away from where we were so we said why not. I kid you not, this was the best restaurant I had been to in a while. Our group of 4 ordered and it took about 10 minutes and was well worth every cent. This review is based on food and service from the Mt. Penn location. I went there shortly after they opened in February 2020 for my birthday with my husband and the food and service was great. I have worked in the restaurant industry for years so I have an eye for whats what when I go in a restaurant. The decor is gorgeous! Restaurant is very clean, the staff is pleasant and take care of you. Our waitress was amazing. I ordered a glass of wine and she remembered the date on my I.D and saw my birthday was recent. To my surprise the staff brought a beautiful dessert out and sang a birthday song. I cried I felt so special and gave my waitress a hug. It was a great experience. Also, I'm a vegetarian and have difficulty with getting upset stomachs at restaurants and I had no issues with the food, so that says a lot about the quality of the food. To top it off, you get more than what you pay for, its a WIN WIN WIN. read more

I am a vegan and I thoroughly enjoy the vegan burrito. If you get it to-go however they will include chips, salsa and their creamy dip. That dip is not vegan as it has a mayo base. No worries though because their chips and salsa are great. I was dining-in with friends last night, we were sat at a table with their chips and our drink orders were taken immediately. Our server was attentive and friendly...never overbearing. We ordered table side guacamole which was delicious. Make sure to tip your guacamole preparer! The servers began cleaning up while we were getting ready to go and I was so impressed with how thourough they were during this process. They were actually flipping tables on their side to make sure and get every crumb all while using flashlights to see everything. This is my favorite place to eat in Wyomissing Pa. read more

Forever obsessed with Azteca. The portion sizes are HUGE. You will always leave with leftovers unless you're like me and can't put down your fork despite being stuffed! The service is extremely quick. I've found the male staff are 10x friendlier than the female staff. The male staff are polite, always saying ma'am and sir. I think the food is pretty authentic as well. Not "On the Border" type of food. Their alcoholic beverages are pretty strong-- so no complaints there! Prior to getting your meal they serve you complimentary chips and a red and white dip. The white dip is my obsession. It's like crack. I can't stop with it. Tried it twice.Sevice poor. Food always swimming in undrained fat..Tableside Guac was good. Returned food twice amd received free meals to go.Food appears mushy.Taco Bell is. Much better..Who wants to eat pink uncooked chopped meat? Salsa dip was Ranch and salty.Place is very large and you cant get ahold of your waitress.. My husband and I visited this establishment this weekend and I was impressed for it being a "chain restaurant". The rice was delicious and from my past experiences I stayed away from the beans. The wait was about 15 minuets after 6pm on a Friday night. They offered complementary chips,salsa and queso. The salsa was just okay (they should incorporate cilantro). We sipped on margaritas which were also just okay partly because they ran out of margaritas glasses and we had to have ours in a soda glass which took away from the experience and I'm not sure if that also made the drinks on the warmer side (next time I'll have a frozen drink) Anyhow, I had the chicken chimichanga. It was good---lots of cheese sauce if your into that. My husband had the San Jose burrito which he says was "banging". All in all this place offer a delicious dinner and I would definitely go back and try something different. read more

I was told the locals love Plaza Azteca and found out for myself that seriously, have mercy, this place is delicious! This is exactly the kind of (Mexican) restaurant I wish you could find in NYC... huge portions, fresh ingredients, big drinks and great prices. My domestic partner and I split the chicken and steak fajitas as per a deal we saw up front -- something like $28 for 2 orders of fajitas plus the guacamole, which alone cost $8.95. Coming from NYC I didn't even balk at such an expensive price for guac (which I actually despise, but more on that later), but we soon learned why it was priced above a more normal Berks County sample: they bring out a professional guacamole-maker to prepare it for you, from scratch, right by your table! It was a cool performance and the end result is this enormous pile of ultrafresh guacamole that the average competitive eater would probably need three or four buckets of (very good) chips to finish. Since I'm not into guac I ordered the queso dip, which ended up being a huge mistake (oh no, it was great -- classic melted white cheese and a TON of it -- but by the time we got everything there was barely room on our four-spot for both of our meals). Fajitas -- jeez. There was way, way too much food (especially considering we'd just gone to town on all the chips and dips -- did I mention the salsa?). But it was delicious and everything tasted awesome. Ended up packing about 50% of the meal and we ate our hearts out (update: the leftovers made for a fab fajita salad the next day). I even tried the guac and have to say it was by far the furthest from repellent any avocado product I've yet encountered has ever been -- the other party enjoyed what he could put down thoroughly. read more

Wyomissing is slim pickings for restaurants (other than the chains). I was glad to find this place. I was a bit suspicious at first as it looked like a chain steakhouse from the outside, but the food was quite good. They have a mariachi band playing, which was a bit much, but added to the ambiance. The table side guac was really good and was a great addition. The portions are ginormous (other than the taco salad). You won't leave hungry or disappointed. read more
