Had a good experience at Playa Bowls in St. Augustine and it definitely hit the spot for a fresh and healthy option. The bowls looked really good and were packed with fruit and toppings, and everything tasted fresh and refreshing, especially on a warm day. The atmosphere inside was bright, clean, and very beachy, which fits the vibe perfectly. It's a nice quick stop if you want something light after walking around downtown or St. George Street. Service was friendly and the order came out pretty quickly, which was nice since it can get busy. Everything was made correctly and looked just like the menu photos. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it's a bit pricey for what you get, and the portions felt slightly smaller than expected compared to similar spots. Still, overall it's a solid place for a healthy snack or smoothie bowl and we would definitely go again. read more

It was a hot day in St. Augustine and we needed something to cool us down as we figured out what was for dinner on our one full day in the city. Playa Bowls was easy to find, albeit very small. The picnic area is bigger than the shack where the employees whip up delicious smoothies and bowls. My husband and I were greeted warmly and given time to look at the menu (there's a bigger menu inside, so don't rely on just the door menu). Service was quite slow and we waited for a while. Our smoothies were delicious but waiting over 20 minutes for them was a bit much. We enjoyed sitting in the shade on a bench. There were napkins provided as well. I really liked the beach vibes with the shells scattered all over the ground. Besides the wait time, this was a nice place to cool down from the hot Florida sun. read more

I really like açaí, so it was no surprise that i liked this place. However, this was the first time my dad has ever had it, and he really liked it! it was nice and frozen, so felt good on a hot day. and it was too sweet of a base, so the granola and nutella i had on my bowl made really even and refreshing bites. I got the coco power coconut bowl and it was absolutely delicious. Me and my family got two bowls and two drinks and they all came out in about five minutes and everything tasted great. Considering it is mid summer in Florida it was very hot eating outside but it had an outdoor seating area with a fan and places to sit. This place was awful, we should have known by how empty it was. 3 collage age kids who were way more interested in their conversation than their job. Chunks of ice in the smoothie, way too much honey and the blueberries were literally rotten, I know that because I ate one and spit it out.....come on. As someone who works in food service you know what your product should look like. There's not an excuse for that. They simply didn't care. I went back to tell them it was bad and they laughed it off, not funny. There was a trash can next to the service window that didn't have a trash bag in it. Absolutely incredible service in every aspect. There was a lovely girl at the window, I believe her name was Gabby, who greeted my family and I with a smile and helped walk us through all the options on the menu. The Nica Bowl was so good and the mix of fresh fruit with peanut butter & chocolate was spot on. The vibe was super cool as it's located right on the cusp of St. George street in the middle of the downtown area.
