This is my first time eating at Playa. I had the Nica bowl, which tasted better than I imagined it would. Fast service (I imagine it's more crowded in the summer), fresh ingredients and lots and lots of options for bowls and toppings. Good stuff!

I've only had their bowls and smoothies, they are always delicious and have a pretty presentation. It's also very filling! My one gripe is, when I order ahead online, my bowl is never ready at the estimated time. Granted, it's usually in the morning when there is only one or two people there, I just think the app needs to extend the time a bit to give them a chance to make the bowl. I'd rather have it ready before I get there (they have a fridge to store them in) than have to wait past the estimated time. Usually I'm running to work and this has made me late a few times.

One of my friends mentioned this place to me and told me to try it. The staff: They seem very friendly and pleasant to deal with. The order on the app for pick up is super fast and is always ready when I come to pick up my playa bowls. Electric Mermaid: This is by far my favorite and is my go to at all times. It has the right taste and is very delicious. Dragonberry: I was a bit hesitant in getting this but it was not so bad after all. This was yummy as well. Overall: I think I might order other menu items from here in the future. Also, the app helps you get free rewards.

I love playa bowls! I always get the Nutella Bowl and add blueberries. The fruit is always fresh and the workers are nice. I dined in and enjoyed the music as well. Today I received $3 off my order because I earn reviews through the app.

The set up and scenery is pretty neat, feels like you're on an island almost. The menu is pretty extensive which is great since they have many options. I think they also have vegan friendly options. However the customer service totally needs to be stepped up. The two ladies I encountered were schmucks to be frank. I was merely trying to order a bowl for my son and it was like pulling teeth, they even forgot to ask me what BASE I wanted for my bowl; which is a must in the açaí bowls world last time I checked. I get it's Monday morning but no excuse for the customers to receive subpar service.

I love Playa Bowls. I have reviewed other locations before but wanted to make sure I review this one as I come here the most. The food is always consistent from location to location. They are really great at accommodating any sort of dietary restriction or allergy. I almost always modify my order in some way, (adding/taking away ingredients), and that are always happy to do so. I often get the Pure Vida bowl which comes with an Açaí base. My friend from work gets a lot of bowls with the coconut vase and she is obsessed with them. Sometimes we will get bowls with multiple bases. (The coco craze bowl with half açaí is amazing btw!) I will say, if you are physically going there on your break from work, I would recommend ordering ahead of time online because the wait time can be a bit long during the lunch rush. I love this place and cannot wait for my next trip.

this is supposed to have strawberries and berries included...

Not sure if they have changed owners but the service has gone down substantially. In the morning, there is only one person working both the register and in store and online pickups. I order there at least 4 times a week. This morning I ordered an Pura vida bowl for pick up. After having to wait 5 minutes in the store just to pick up my order, I get home to find out that there are no fruits in the bowl. Fine, I figured I will just call and they will correct it. Nope, no one answers the phone. I called for almost 10 minutes and no response. Luckily, I paid by CC and my bank will reimburse the cost to me. Used to be a great place... hopefully they can change but they lost a customer today.

Would I recommend it? Yes. Is it worth seeing once? Also yes. It has that big, theatrical, old-school deli energy where the portions are part of the show. That said, I'm not in the camp that every good restaurant is automatically a five-star spot. When everything is a five, it gets harder to separate the truly elite places, the hometown heroes, and the restaurants worth planning a trip around. Harold's lands for me as a very solid three-point-something, graciously rounded to four because they have a Marine Corps flag hung in reception. The food was good, the portions were whatever you make it, and the whole place has novelty value without feeling like a total gimmick. The sandwiches are large enough to satisfy a hungry, medium-sized guy without completely defeating him. And honestly, on a menu full of meat, my favorite thing may have been the healthy pickled salad/pickle bar situation -- bright, crunchy, and a great counterbalance to the heavier deli classics. My biggest knock was the service atmosphere. There seemed to be an army of staff, but not much interaction beyond their phones. Maybe I caught it at an off time, and maybe the place comes alive when it's packed, but that kept the experience from feeling warmer or more special. Overall: fun stop, good food, convenient location, and worth doing if you're passing through. Memorable four.

The space is nice with good seating and a clean, comfortable setup. Tried the stir-fried chili tofu, brown rice, and noodles. The noodles were the best part--flavorful and well-cooked. Unfortunately, the tofu was quite average with not much taste, and the brown rice was a bit too dry for our liking. Parking is tough around this place .. paid parking mostly . Overall, a decent late-night option if you're nearby, but the flavors could use a boost.

We opted for the two person deal. 3 apps and 2 mains for $55 - a great deal. For apps we shared the beef gyoza, chicken karaage and takoyaki. The gyoza was ok; the karaage was pretty good and the takoyaki was standard, but good. I had the tonkotsu and my husband had the spicy miso tonkotsu and we both added the ajitama (marinated egg). Both ramens were nice and hot but flavors were underwhelming. The pork itself was good. The noodles were just ok. The tonkotsu had heavy garlic flavor but I was expecting a heartier broth with rich pork flavored like I'm used to. The spicy miso tonkotsu had a kick but also could have been richer. For all the ravings I was expecting better flavors so we're slightly disappointed. Maybe it was an off night. They close at 8:30 so around 8:20 felt slight pressure to finish up (not in a rude way). The staff is nice and the restaurant is nice and bright.

If you're in NJ and craving Hong Kong-style wonton noodle soup, head to Wonton Guy in Edison. It's a no-frills local gem tucked away in a tiny strip mall off Route 27, with a few parking spots out front and more in the back. The space is small (only 10 tables!) and nothing fancy, but the value is hard to beat. It's always busy, and after you take your first slurp of the soup, you'll get why. Service is fast, so the tables turn over quickly. I was able to grab a seat when I walked in on a Saturday evening. The menu is simple and offers 3 main options: 1.) noodle soup with toppings 2.) soup with toppings (no noodles) 3.) lo mein with toppings served with soup on the side From there, you pick your noodle type (egg, flat rice, vermicelli), as well as up to 3 toppings (wontons, dumplings, beef brisket, etc.). There are also a few side dishes like shredded pork in chili tomato sauce, deep fried fish skin, and curry fish balls. They even sell some items raw like wontons, noodles, dumplings, and sliced beef. And the best part is... the prices are very affordable! Most of the dishes are around $11-$16. My order: *Two Toppings (wonton + beef brisket) Noodle Soup [$12.75] - Where do I begin? Every single part of this meal SLAPPED. The wontons were MUMBO JUMBO and generously filled with fresh, plump shrimp that were sweet and juicy. The noodles were soft and springy. The beef brisket was SO tender with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. And the broth? Super rich, aromatic, and savory. It's made of shrimp skin, pork bone, dried flounder fish, dried shrimp, and dried monk fruit, but it doesn't taste fishy at all. Each table is stocked with condiments like vinegar, homemade chili oil, and soy sauce to customize your soup. The chili oil packs some SERIOUS HEAT, so watch out. This was hands down one of the best noodle soups I've had. I was sad when I finished it :-( *Hong Kong-style Milk Tea [$6] - I really enjoyed this! The black tea was bold and strong--almost too strong for me, but the milk balanced it out nicely. I only wish it had boba! Everything tasted authentic. Quick backstory: The owner comes from a family with GENERATIONS of experience making wontons and running noodle shops in Hong Kong. He grew up there and brought those family traditions to his own restaurants in Toronto... and now Edison. All those years of experience clearly show in his food. The broth is simmered overnight, and the wontons are freshly prepared every morning. No shortcuts here--just decades of tradition, skill, and a whole lot of love in every bowl. Ugh, I wish I lived closer because I'd be a regular. It's hard these days to find a place that REALLLLLLY delivers a memorable meal that's both tasty, reasonably priced, and served in generous portions. If you're within driving distance and debating whether it's worth the trip--DON'T! Wonton Guy is absolutely worth a visit, even if it's just once. I drove an hour to try it, and I still think about those wontons all the time... no joke LOL.
