The wait was 45 minutes, maybe longer. There were only three people preparing the bowls and smoothies, for a long line of 20, waiting in the hot sun. There were 8 of us, including two young children. The smoothies were brought out 20 to 30 minutes earlier than the bowls. I left my family waiting in line and went to Mamalukes and was done before the others were served at Playabowls. Absolutely unfortunately will not be coming back here. I placed an order online and received the order 1 hour 15 minutes past the time of order. The store is incredibly and dangerously understaffed and the young workers are very overwhelmed but also very slow. You can tell they do not have a strategic approach to handling peak summer hours as each worker was not tasked to do one particular thing. You can also tell the workers did not know the menu and kept looking at it to fill the bowls correctly. There needs to be an adult manager present otherwise any respect for this business will diminish with time. Not to mention the quality of the bowls coming out were awful, the bowls were half filled with minimal granola/fruit and the containers incredibly sticky from how they were chaotically making them. I have been waiting at this playa bowls for 50+ minutes! They need a better system this is madness, they know it's crowded on the weekends and they don't have enough workers to serve everyone in a reasonable manner. Which means they should close at this rate I won't get my food till they close. There food was not worth the wait and if I was told the wait before hand I would nit have stayed. I saw employees sitting on the floor in there phones while there was 30 people standing in the store and waiting for there bowls. I will never be coming back to this playa bowls!! My family loves playa and I think in the last 2 weeks, we have ordered at least 4 times. The one thing I wish they did do is that when you enter in your phone number they mention what rewards you have available. I would've been able to use a couple of them but I didn't realize I had them. Also my family had a negative experience on one of their visits as the employee working didn't seem to know exactly what they were doing at the register. Not sure why Yelp had this marked as closed, but we went today and really enjoyed what we got. Seeing the shop from the beach across the street, my wife and I started craving some acai bowls, so after packing things up for the day, we went in and ordered one to share. We decided on the Pura Vida bowl, which has granola, honey, blueberries, and strawberries. Every part of that bowl was great - the fruit was fresh, the granola was tasty, and the honey added some nice flavor to the acai. After that, we ordered a mango pineapple colada smoothie, which was delicious as well - not too sweet, but quite refreshing. I don't care if they comped me for life, I would never return. My husband said that the woman working said that he had "one minute to get out of the car and order". He was at the door, I got to the door in 20 seconds total approx. I love playa bowls. However I will not return to the one next to Dunkin' Donuts and 7-11. EVER. Young lady working suggested that the computers and cash register shut down at 8:00 PM on the dot sharp on a Saturday. They made my husband feel horrible, his words not mine. We would have went to the ice cream shop next-door, but we are so upset with the way that we were treated. I never write one star reviews. I have written the best of the best reviews, I will not stand for my husband being in an ice cream shop/ACAI bowl shop : literally five minutes before close, to be told that they closed in five minutes and that she would still serve him. She did not want to serve me apparently. I am not going to insult anyone. But how hard is it to put an Açaí pre-made mixture, with a few different mixing's of fresh fruit and peanut butter!!! That's so hard, that's understandable, maybe She should not have told him to come in within one minute before I got to the door in 20 seconds from the front of the store. They also won't tell you it's not being made unless you ask. They turn away customers and act as if they couldn't care less. Had a delicious Poke Bowl from Playa Bowl for dinner with friends! I am generally really into the smoothie bowl stuff, but I was really feeling the Beets, brown rice, and avocado! This definitely left me feeling full and ready to hit more waves and for the ride home. It was a little bit big for me, which isn't a bad thing. I also felt like the beets made the bowl overall very sweet, so if you get this one, definitely take note! I will likely get their smoothie bowls again next time but I'm glad to know their poke bowls aren't bad. Service was satisfactory- fast and "pick up at counter" style so there's not much else to say about it. Seating was mainly outdoors and we got to people watch the boardwalk goers. i always get playa bowls dragon berry bowl and i substituted out regular granola for the vegan/gf granola and substituted the honey for almond butter!! it was so delicious!! it's about $10-13 with the substitutes depending on the bowl. definitely a 10/10. if you haven't go definitely go get one!! the staff is very nice and helpful when i asked about if i can make substitutions and about the base in the bowl read more
