This business was consistently busy so clearly their customer base is not only vegans. They have a huge menu to pick from and everything I tried was a winner. I was out of town visiting friends and so lucky my Inn was walking distance from Kaya's. I enjoyed dinner and lunch here during my stay. The first thing I ordered was the Seitan Peppered Steak and my husband got the Chicken Parm upon the server's recommendation. I could not believe I got to use a steak knife for my meal! That was a thrill as most vegans have no purpose for a steak knife other than opening up packages of tofu. This seitan steak entree was a true meat and potatoes dinner which was a unique experience for me. The seitan steak was thin which meant it wasn't chewy and very easy to slice into and enjoy. The mashed potatoes had a generous pool of gravy and were perfection. The side of vegetables was cooked just right and added some nice color to my plate. My husband hardly gave me a bite of his chicken parm. He was in heaven. The bite I did enjoy had wonderful notes of basil and was delicious. The sandwich was assembled well and never got soggy. It was a great first experience. We returned the next day for lunch and got the chicken quesadillas, nachos, and tiramisu. The nachos were fully loaded and every chip had a delicious topping to enjoy. The quesadilla was simple yet executed well. I loved that it came with guacamole, salsa, and sour cream on the side. The tiramisu was the real standout winner. I thought we were too full for dessert and then we demolished this tiramisu. It was made by an employee who has her own business and this pastry chef is TALENTED. I wish I could order a whole sheet of that tiramisu, and I wish I was in town longer to try more of her baked goods. Kaya's employees were amazing as the menu was HUGE and I had so many questions for them. They were patient, friendly, and got the food out of the kitchen in a timely manner. Kaya's also has an impressive amount of dining space. No matter how crowded it was I felt like my husband and I could enjoy an intimate meal together. I did not anticipate coming back to Belmar but it would be sad if I never got to eat at Kaya's again. They are officially on my list for vacation destinations.
