The food was good. I got the pura vida and tropical açaí bowl. We ordered online and came on time however there was a 40 minute delay. It was very busy though due to it being a holiday but I hope in the future they can update the app with the correct wait time for the online orders. The food however was very good and there was a generous amount of fruit and granola. read more

This was a refreshing afternoon meal, perfect for after sitting by the beach and in the sun. The amount of options on types of bowls you can get is outstanding. Usually at açaí bowl places, they serve only that. Playa Bowls has a variety of bowls like chia seed pudding, banana, coconut, greens, and açaí bases with tons of topping options. The Tropical bowl was delicious and I was able to substitute the pineapple for mango easily. The bowl was sweet and the fruit was fresh and delicious. read more

If you are looking for a refreshing treat after a day at the beach, look no further. Playa Bowls has you covered. They have so many different fruity sweet options, they will surely have something for everyone. They have a banana, dragon fruit, açaí, coconut, or green thick smoothie bases which can be topped with an assortment of fruits, granola, coconut flakes, Nutella, honey, etc. There are vegan options and they offer substitutes. Even though it looks small, a bowl is enough to fill you up as a light lunch or snack. They have a shared restroom in the back by their coffee area, which is pretty clean for a bathroom on the beach. :) read more

I just loved the vibes when you walk into this place. Fun and colorful, lots of comfortable seating that says "Welcome!" We came off peak, on a Monday afternoon in early May. I suppose this place will get quite backed up during the peak season, but hey, I'm rating them for this particular visit. A lot of options on fruit bowls and smoothies. A coffee bar on the side, again with a lot of options. We had one of the fruit bowls. The base was some kind of coconut/banana ice and it was topped with bananas, strawberries and nutella. I was looking for something tasty, and while this was probably loaded with calories, I'm sure it was better for you than a big bowl of ice cream! (Don't worry, I will go for the ice cream next time!) We took it to go, went across the street and ate it on the beach. Ahhhh. read more

Definitely THE most crowded of all their locations. Take advantage of their excellent online ordering and just go in to pick up. Since I'm only at this location when the weather is nice I'd rather take my bowl to go and sit across the street on the boardwalk. But they do have a large space with plenty of seating. I love my acai bowls but the craziness in here is more than I can handle. Pickup and make a run for it is the way to go at this location :) read more

Every time I order from the Belmar shop through the Playa Bowls app the portions become smaller and smaller, and the granola, coconut and nutella become less and less. I typically go in the afternoon to Playa but always deal with a long wait. So I switched things up and decided to order my bowl early in the morning (~9:40a) using the orderspoon app. The app suggested my order would be ready by 10:20a but glad I walked up after finalizing my transaction cuz my bowl was def ready. I've tried many bowls but my FAVE is the pura vida acai bowl even though I mixed the base today with 1/2 stupid cupid (strawberry base). I just love the simplicity of the strawberry/blueberry, crunchy granola drizzled with honey over the base. The Belmar location is by far the best one, especially since it's the OG of em all! read more

Finally made to this ever popular place. And, I can certainly see what all the fuss is about. Fresh and healthy ingredients, friendly service, hip atmosphere, and simply an overall cool and refreshing treat while at the beach. Aptly known as Playa Bowls! We ordered a Lola Bowl with a Nutella add-on, Trailblazer Bowl, and a Dolce Smoothie. My Lola bowl was tasty, filling and quite a treat, especially with the Nutella add-on. For an extra 50 cents you can add-on additional toppings to your bowl. My bowl was basically a meal and a dessert all in one. The bowls at a price point of $9-11 dollars are all freshly made to order, which explains the lines. Good tasty things take time! The service was fantastic and I was especially impressed that each patron was asked about any allergies. My friend has an almond allergy and after our server found that out, she omitted the granola from the Trailblazer bowl, because it contains almonds. read more

Worst experience. I asked for the Nutelloco with gluten free granola and a regular Nutella bowl. Both were 1- half filled 2- completely melted as soon as they were handed to us AND 3- had no granola. It's crazy how big Playa Bowls has gotten. I remember a few years ago they were just a food cart. I shop by most times I'm in the area. Playa Bowls is entirely dairy-free which is great for those who are lactose intolerant (like me). They offer bowls, juices and smoothies and use very fresh ingredients. Although the bowls are similar among the bases, the bases are all different. They have açaí, banana, coconut, pitaya (dragonfruit) and kale based. Each of the bowls are topped with fruit, granola and drizzled in honey, peanut butter or Nutella (dependent on the bowls). I haven't tried the chia pudding bowls but they're much smaller. Each bowl is about $9-$11 but they keep you full for hours. The taste is great and it makes you feel like you're having a healthy choice whether it's for breakfast or lunch in comparison to all the pizza on the boardwalk. This location also has coffee surf coffee bar which has amazing chai teas. If you're in Belmar, be sure to check out Playa Bowls read more

I waited 15 minutes in line, which was fine because it was Sunday and I knew it'd be busy, but then I waited almost half an hour for my acai bowl because they lost my order ticket and made everyone else's order who ordered after me. I must say Playa bowls is one big reason why we frequently go to the Belmar beach ! I've never had something like this before and was a bit hesitant before getting a bowl for myself as they all sounded too healthy and I was afraid that it might not taste so good (like who wants to eat healthy on a hot summer beach day). They have pretty elaborate selection of bowls, categorized under Pitaya/Acai/Coconut. I got myself an electric mermaid bowl since it was visually appealing, I must say I was bowled out by the flavors and taste and gobbled it all down in a few minutes. It was filled up with some Pitaya fruit purée blended with coconut milk, strawberries, pineapple, bananas, shaved coconut, granola and topped with Nutella :) It was truly refreshing and also filling at the same time. Some may feel $10 for this bowl is a bit expensive but I'd say it's worth every penny to eat this healthy yet yummy bowl that is sure going to make you happy! The place is pretty vibrant and bustling with crowd that's a mix of all ages and the service staff very cheerful and friendly. Great stuff guys !! read more

The service was terrible. I understand when there's a rush but seriously there was not control whatsoever in the store. I'm annoyed at myself for taking so long to try Playa Bowls. There is always a huge line here, and I never wanted to wait. Now that I finally tried it, I can say it's worth the hype and definitely waiting on line. That being said, so far I've only tried the acai Nutella Bowl which is stated to be a good pick for a first time. The Acai is so refreshing with a perfect consistency. The granola gives it a nice crunch. And of course, the Nutella on top is delicious. They deliver to the beach too. We've gotten it delivered once before and it arrived in perfect condition - no melting. read more

This place was a great place to go to! Tons of varieties to get with your açaí bowl. You can even change the base mix from Açaí to coconut to pitaya and more. I mixed mine with coconut and açaí. My wife got the gingerbread bowl which is a seasonal bowl. Both hit the spot! You get loads of food with each bowl! The atmosphere is great here. Very cool how it is also combined with a cozy coffee spot. I would definitely recommend coming here. read more

Be sure to stop in to playa for some delicious and healthy treats! Both their smoothies and bowls are to die for; I'm a big fan of the Nutella bowl which includes your choice of base (I like the classic açaí), strawberries, bananas, coconut flakes, granola, and a drizzle of Nutella. You can add or take away ingredients as you please. Their prices are on the higher side (average of $10 per bowl), but the ingredients are fresh and their açaí is specially made. I will continue to stop here as an after beach or school treat. read more

Playa Bowls is a Jersey Shore essential in the summer. It's a quick place to grab filling and refreshing fruit bowls. There are a ton of options to choose from, but the big categories are açaí bowls, pitaya bowls, banana bowls, and coconut bowls. My friend and I split a Goji bowl, which has a pitaya base. All the food here is delicious. It's sweet and tasty and honestly very nutritious. Service here is very good, as you can tell the staff is trying their best to be as fast as possible. My only complaint about this place is that the food items are a little pricier than I would've thought it'd be for fruit.
