I'm reaching out regarding an order I placed totaling about $75. Unfortunately, the quality of the items I received was far below what I expected. Several of the bowls contained very minimal Nutella, the fruit was not fresh, and the overall presentation and portion sizes were noticeably inconsistent with what I've received in the past. I called the location to resolve the issue, but there was no manager available at the time. The staff member I spoke with mentioned "portion control," but the portions in my order were significantly smaller than what I've previously received, especially considering the price. Because of the quality concerns and the lack of available management to help address the issue, I'm requesting a refund or replacement for this order. Good thing I am not allergic to peanut butter. I ordered the 8th Avenue with extra honey. I got peanut butter and no honey. The 8th Avenue does not have peanut butter in it. Thank goodness a Playa Bowl is opening in Fort Monmouth. I will be going there from now on. read more

Just no. Drive 10 min to a better location if you want more than half of a banana in your bowl. I spent $40 on 3 bowls and they were maybe half full -- legit like 2 strawberries and a pea-sized squeeze of Nutella. The teenage employees are rude and sloppy even if you tip them beforehand. Refreshing and filling as always. This location is quiet and peaceful. The staff was helpful with accommodations and recommendations. You can never go wrong with a ton of Nutella on fruit to make your day better. Definitely try the dragon berry bowl, a classic and fan favorite in my opinion. read more

I have no idea how anyone can possibly choose a favorite Playa Bowl, first off, they have 42 already created bowl options, but if you mix and match the 7 different bases, 25 toppings & fruits and THEN with add in's, you could quite literally, not eat the same Playa Bowl for a year!! A YEAR!! I might have to put this to the test next January, when I go on my new diet, 'cuz Costa Rica is in my not so distant future!! I wanted my first Playa Bowl to be pure and simple, so I went with the Electric Mermaid. Base is Pitaya (Dragon fruit) blend, topped with granola, kiwi, pineapple, mango, coconut flakes and honey. I have to say it wasn't overly sweet, really fresh tasting, the granola was crunchy and held up well to all the fruit and base, I would have liked the option to have a sweeter coconut option, since the coconut flake is hard and the texture wasn't a favorite but it's not a deal breaker for me by any means, it was just a texture thing for me. My second bowl this past Thursday was the Dragon Fruit bowl. Basically the same base and topped with granola but it had strawberries, blueberries and I requested extra honey. This was a winner for me, I might add banana next time. As for the store and customer service: * I love the decor, I found it creative, whimsy and growing up as a surfer girl from Cali, it made me miss my beautiful Pacific, but in a good way. *The music was crazy loud, like I couldn't even place the artist or the music, it's not hip when your patrons are kinda shouting orders over the music and 1,000HP Mopar Hellephant juicer thingy you got cranking over there. Just turn the tunes down just a "little" bit or fix the acoustics with plants, is all I'm saying. *Customer service was really great, polite, friendly and helpful in helping me figure out what I wanted as a Playa Bowl Newbie. I'm usually a 5 star reviewer.... But this place is NOT kid friendly. Every time I'm in there the music is SO inappropriate (profanity, racial slurs & straight up trash rap). The hype is real with Playa Bowls. I have had acai bowls at a lot of different locations and I will say playa bowls is in my top 2. (Baya bar in Brooklyn is up there too check my review) Anyway back to Playa Bowls, everything from the theme to the decor is spot on. I didnt realize how many different options there were but I stuck with the nutella acai bowl. This acai tastes fresher than others I have had. The acai also has a smoother consistency than others. The fruit that comes on top was also all fresh and you get good value for the price. Also you cant help but admire the story of how this all was created. Honestly super disappointed in my trip today but not surprised. They do have good bowls and i won't take that from them but i can not tell you how many times I've gotten rancid fruit on my bowl. I've brought this to their attention multiple times in person and online and nobody cares enough to address it. It's obvious that Playa Bowls severely lacks in customer service and management skills. If I'm going to pay $11 for an açaí bowl the fruit needs to be edible at a minimum. Definitely think it's time to search for a new shop. read more

Very good! Have been here many times and I am always happy. It's almost always busy, but the wait isn't too long at all. They have many options, however I just about always get the same thing. My most recent visit was good, however the strawberries were a little sour and not as fresh as they normally are. I have also been to other locations, and they are all very consistent. read more

Then if I ask what time they close they tell me 7 which on the website they close at 8??? i went to playa bowls on 35 in oakhurst and ordered a "goji bowl." They make it and I'm like "you forgot the goji berries" and she goes "we don't have them at this location. We are a kosher location." I'm like "uhhh it's a berry. Also, my Gojis at home are kosher, I've read it on the Navitas brand bag." "Well we don't have them here." "Ummm i ordered a goji bowl- why didn't you tell me when I ordered it. What's a goji bowl without the gojis? You're not even going to offer me something else? Or apologize for neglecting to tell me before I gave you my money? Instead you're going to completely cater to a very specific demographic within a very large population?" I used to love playa bowls back when they were still a small company, only in belmar on ocean Ave. They have since expanded and the quality as well as service is now extremely low. Save your money and your patience and keep driving north and east to Melonhead in sea bright if you want a smoothie bowl. They have all organic and fresh ingredients, including their peanut butter... not like playa bowls who uses Jiffy . If you're down by the jersey shore for the summer or just popping in for a visit I would definitely recommend making a stop @playabowlsocean they have such a selection of bowls from açaí to pitaya to coconut. You can customize it and add any topping you like or just choose from one of their options. They are super nice and if you're unsure which base you'd like you can ask to taste them. I got the nitaya today, it's pictured above. It's a pitaya bowl which is naturally bright pink mixed with pineapple, banana , and coconut milk. It wasn't overly sweet and I added peanut butter and strawberries. This bowl was fully loaded and really hit the spot on a hot day like today the place is also very big and spacious so there's room to sit and chill. FYI there are a few locations but this is the only kosher certified location. read more

Little Gen Z attitudes behind the counter. Came with my kids because they love it there. My 1 year old was antsy so I let her walk around. I stood at the counter trying to get one of the employees attention to get tops to go and was ignored. My daughter was standing near the doorway to go behind the counter and I was yelled at for letting my baby walk. It was just my family in there. Imagine going inside standing in line for 15 mins, ordering, than waiting another 30 mins for a little bowl to be ready. Welp, there's no need to imagine that because that is what I just went through. I want to personally ask to retrain or fire some of the employees that were working at 1:15 on sep. 7. Service sucks at this location. Ordered 2 bowls, they made one wrong, I politely mentioned that one was wrong and the girl saw from the receipt she mad a mistake. So instead of just fixing up another bowl, she walks away into the back for like 5 minutes. Then she finally comes out(ignores my pitiful bowl sitting there) and starts bitching out the poor register girl, like it was her fault(it wasnt, receipt clearly had instructions on it in big letters), now its 10 minutes gone by, 3 other customers have come and gone in line, so now after all that you think she would just nake another bowl, nope, she gets on the phone and starts complaining to god knows who about god knows what. Finally after 15 minutes another super nice girl comes over and says 8m going to make you another bowl. So i said, why didnt she just make another bowl 15 minutes ago i could have been out the door? And she just rolled her eyes as if working under the girl in charge must really suck at that location. Anyway 20 dollars for 2 bowls of oatmeal and they use pre cooked oatmeal that comes in plastic bags, frozen strawberries which you can see and taste are mediocre at best. You can make these bowls at home for about 30 cents each, which is what we decided we will be doing after this nonsense. We could not finish our bowls since the taste of both bases were so UNPLEASANT. My banana base tasted just like when a banana had turned all brown/black and is ready to go in the garbage . On top of that it tasted like it had been in the freezer for ages very , very unpleasant . I guess simple directions are hard to follow. I asked for a Nutella bowl with peanut butter instead of Nutella. When I got my bowl it had a mountain of peanut butter and Nutella one of the most disgusting thing I have ever attempted to eat. I must say that I enjoy Playa Bowls. The two stars are because of the poor customer service! My disappointment comes in their customer service. Below is a copy of a letter I sent to Playa Bowl, twice, in the past two weeks. Not one response from anyone in corporate. 7 May 2019 Good evening, I visited the Oakhurst, NJ location this evening around 5:15 PM. The music playing was extremely offensive to me. I informed the young man taking my order that the music needs to be changed because it was offensive to me on many levels. He was nonchalant in his response of "OK," as he continued to take 2-3 additional orders. I gave him enough time to stop what he was doing to change the music. I then asked a young lady, beginning to prepare something in a blender, if she could change the music because it was offensive. She said "OK" and continued to prepare her order. (Also, her shorts were too short and therefore inappropriate for a place of business.) The young man who took my order came to the prep station to make a bowl as the music went off. He never made any effort to acknowledge my concern or make any attempt to address the music issue. Here is the issue with the music. The music used very offensive language and had a crude topic. The words bitc! and nig_er was recited throughout this offensive song. This language is offensive to me as an African American, as a woman and as a parent. I would not want my child or any child hearing such music. This is not the first time I've visited this location and heard music playing that was offensive. The difference then was that the crew recognized the inappropriate music and moved quickly to change to something more suitable to a place of business. There were three people working when I entered the store and not one of them seemed at all concerned that I was offended or that anyone else could be offended by the music playing. They seemed almost robotic as they performed their duties and not very welcoming to the customers. (They weren't rude, just bland.) It is my hope that the employees would receive sensitivity and customer service training. Playa Bowls is one of my favorite places for a treat. . Today's visit has left me disappointed.
