This smoothie was bangin! I was craving one and then I drove by and saw Frutta bowls. Have I been there before? No. Was I gonna try it out? Yes. I got the whey up which has banana, strawberry, peanut butter and whey protein powder. The employee was very quick and efficient as well as kind. The smoothie was so flavorful. The only struggle I had was having a skinny straw and a couple of whole strawberries they didn't quite get blended. This is my third time at frutta bowls in Middletown, and my conclusive review is that this place is just okay. :/ First time I got an acai bowl, pretty standard. Fruit wasn't totally ripe and lacked flavor a bit. Second time I got an oatmeal bowl, which was surprisingly delicious! Great base, fresh fruit, totally delicious. Third time is when it went down hill.. I got a bowl but asked for oatmeal instead of granola.the bowl I had had protein in it. I guess they keep the bases refrigerated and blend in the protein by hand? Bad idea, bc the texture isn't smooth throughout the bowl and the protein gets chalky. It should definitely be blened through! On top of that, a huge mound of watery oatmeal was plopped on my bowl (not the thick, study kind I had in the oatmeal bowl the time before). To make matters worse, Im pretty sure the bowl was topped with canned pineapple. I could understand using frozen pineapple, the texture would be off when it thawed, but at least the flavor would be there. Very disappointing! However I feel like I never receive any discounts or perks for being a 3 spoon status other than my free bowl after I get so many points, just like all the other statuses. This place has good acai bowls-I got exactly what I wanted but was super disappointed with the portion size. I love the flavor of chocolate whey protein with fruits and PB. I ordered the muscle up bowl ( no granola and coconut flakes instead) and took it to go. Foolishly, I did not look into the bag prior to leaving the restaurant. When I got home and took it out it was only half filled! ( see photos!) not worth the money (9.99 plus tax is over 11.00) for the product. I was still hungry after I finished it. The inside is decorated with an industrial, urban design. It's pretty cool. Also, the staff were nice and answered any questions we had. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. We visited mid-morning and got a smoothie and a bowl. The smoothie was very watery, lacked flavor and the peanut butter squeezed on the sides really just clogged up the straw. It was also pretty expensive ($7) for a subpar snack. The bowl had a pretty minimal amount of smoothie at the bottom. It was mostly granola, and just eh. Once I finally got to the bottom, the smoothie part was basically frozen and again lacked flavor. They're located in a very busy shopping plaza. The potential to do well is there if they can get it together. read more

I've been to several establishments serving açaí bowls around the country (D.C., NJ, Denver) and Frutta Bowls has unfortunately been my least favorite experience. This place is 5 mins away from where I have singing lessons so I was excited to stumble upon it yesterday. It's trendy, clean and very millennial-esque also serving Kombucha on tap. I wasn't able to try any this last visit, but tasting the Kombucha would be my only reason for returning. I did a create-your-own bowl with açaí base, granola, strawberries, and blueberries. No honey and added chia seeds. I kept it in the fridge overnight because I wanted the chia seeds to absorb some of the açaí and get chewy. When I took the bowl out my fridge this afternoon, I was dismayed to find that the chia seeds were not actually in the base of the açaí, but sprinkled on top of the fruit. Since they told us to sit down while they made our order I didn't see them making the bowl at all. This was of course extremely minor and I was still excited to dig into my bowl. The açaí was a thick consistency, something I wasn't quite expecting but figured it was just a little different. Upon my first spoonful I was immediately confused by the flavors on my tongue. My brain wasn't recognizing the açaí as a familiar taste but instead I was picking up banana and maybe something else. I continued to take a few more bites, noting that the strawberries lacked sweetness and flavor and the granola was no longer crunchy (which you may be thinking it's because I left it in the fridge overnight but I've done this before with an açaí bowl and the granola was still crunchier than the granola in this bowl), but I still wasn't registering the açaí flavor but kept tasting banana. I thought back to when my mom who was with me asked to try the pitaya before buying and the cashier said that the pitaya was mixed with pineapple. This turned me off from getting the pitaya because I don't like pineapple, I think the flavor is too strong, but this SHOULD shave clued me to think that maybe the açaí would be mixed with something. I'm not sure if it's stated somewhere and I missed it, but I'm now thinking that banana is mixed with the açaí. I DESPISE bananas so this is highly disappointing. Either that or whatever they used to make the bowl was previously used with banana and that utensil or whatever wasn't properly washed off. Either way I couldn't finish the bowl because I was so turned off by the flavor. I paid $28 for two bowls which is crazy expensive considering I literally only got granola blueberries and strawberries on my bowl. Playa Bowls is cheaper AND fresher and tastier. My mom hasn't eaten her bowl yet so I'm not sure how that turned out, but I am not inclined to try any other bowls from here again. Maybe just the Kombucha one day. read more

Frutta Bowls in Middletown is FANTASTIC! I have been to this location about 8 times in the last month or so to get platters for different events. The platters are always ready the moment I walk in and people at the events can't say enough great things about them. Not to slam any other locations or other chains, but when I called other businesses to order something (only because of distance from Middletown) I was told "upper management" would have to be contacted and to "call back in a few days." That just doesn't work when you are constantly planning events. The Middletown location is great to work with and even if I have to drive a little further, they have my business! read more

I first had a Frutta Bowl at one of the many fairs in Monmouth County not too long ago. It was amazing! However, I just recently had another one along with a smoothie at the Middletown location and was very disappointed. The fruit that was used wasn't ripe. When I had my strawberry mango smoothie, i watched the employee only put in maybe 2 tablespoons of mango and the rest was again the under ripe strawberries. The bowl that I requested was of my own creation. I think I just should've avoided the strawberries. I would try this again in the spring and summer months. read more

Ok. I guess I'll be the first one to give a bad rating. I've been here twice in the same week and both times were different even though I ordered the same item. The young adults behind the counter were not properly trained and you can tell how confused they were and are while making some of the orders. As I'm watching this the manger or owner is standing in the back drinking coffee watching them struggle. My shake both times wasn't the best and it was tasteless.
