I've been coming to Play It Again Sports (PIAS) since they first opened their Soquel location in the early 90's. PIAS is generally known throughout the area as being a solid place to come for your sports and fitness needs. One of the biggest differences between here and other sports stores, is that they feature new and used items! This is a great way to shop on a budget if you're looking to save some money, or buying for multiple kids / sports. They have gear and equipment for all major sports. For example, if you're looking for baseball equipment, they have several racks of baseball bats, plus baseball gloves, balls, helmets, catcher's gear, and even raglan style baseball tees and socks in many colors to accommodate whatever team your kid gets drafted to. They of course have other sports stuff for basketball, soccer, football, pickleball, and even lots of outdoor games for parties, picnics, and beach outings! There's also an entire downstairs basement type area that has gym / workout equipment . Everything from weights and dumbbell sets, to punching bags, to treadmills and ellipticals. The staircase is a little small, so be careful when going up or down. It had been a long time since I'd stepped into PIAS, so we thought it would be fun to stroll through on a recent trip to have breakfast nearby. The staff we all saw were younger looking dudes, but friendly and attentive. Somebody approached us when we were wandering downstairs to ask if we needed any help, and to not hesitate to ask if we did. It was fun to walk around and see all the different sports equipment and games they had. The space is relatively small, but is PACKED with stuff. I definitely recommend coming to Play It Again Sports if you're in need of anything sports or fitness related! IG: @bbnem.eats read more

What an experience! I purchased a slightly used 2024 Capita BOAF board, and the shop shipped it the very next day. Unfortunately, USPS lost my dream board (yes... they had one job!). After waiting a month, the shop stayed in constant communication and was incredibly kind throughout the entire process. Even though the situation was completely out of their control, they offered a full refund. They also gave me the option to upgrade for a small additional cost to a brand-new 2026 BOAF at a great discount. Both options were thoughtful and more than fair. Dustin went above and beyond with his customer service, and I truly appreciate how helpful and supportive he was from start to finish. I can't thank him enough! The new board was successfully delivered to TEXAS! read more

Jeff at Play It Again Sports was awesome to work with. He was super friendly, really knowledgeable, and took the time to help me find exactly what I needed without making me feel rushed. You can tell he actually cares about helping customers instead of just making a quick sale. Great customer service like that is hard to find these days. If you stop by, definitely ask for Jeff -- he'll take good care of you. Thanks again for the great experience! read more

There are so many factors that keep me coming back to play it again sports whenever I'm looking for a piece of gym equipment...price and selection. This particular location excels in both. Normally when buying fitness equipment it's tough to find what I am looking for, because most of the stuff I find is low quality at most sporting goods stores. However, after making my way through the myriad of gear in their fitness section, I found the lower half of this store chocked full of exercise bikes (which what I was looking for) and that fit my budget, WOW! I found a nice Force USA exercise bike, it was used and looks like the previous owner barely used it. After testing it, I knew it was coming home with me, as usual I left a very happy customer. Thank you for the extraordinary service, I will definitely come back here when I need more fitness equipment- thank you read more

Great prices but--great SERVICE at a used (& new) sporting goods place?! Oh yeah. Thank you for the perfect amount of handholding from one associate, welcomes & smiles &/or help/tips from the others. read more

I love this place. Especially if you have kids that play sports. They have new and used equipment and take trade ins. The used equipment is inspected so you are getting safe and quality equipment. Also their used equipment are a great value especially since as a parent you need to purchase different sizes every year. The people that work there are very knowledgeable and helpful. Great prices, great selection and great service!! read more

Riley and the manager working were super helpful and nice. Helped me pick out and put together a paddle board. Super stoked :-))

Family has gotten so much sports gear from here, ranging from kids soccer shoes, footballs, rackets. Great selection of used and new. Friendly staff. Kids and I love going here for a weekend treasure hunt. read more

Always have what my growing family needs!! Great selection and friendly, helpful staff!

I am not a Yelp reviewer by habit. Only exceptional things will inspire me to write something. Today was just such a day. I called ahead and I spoke with James-- my son had a massive growth spurt (8.5 inches!) in the last calendar year and I needed to replace pretty much everything related to his ski gear. James was incredibly thoughtful, knowledgeable, patient and informative. With confidence that a 90-minute drive was warranted, I headed north and was welcomed by a wonderful ski technician named Dylan. Dylan helped get us fitted and provided knowledge and patience and positive attitude. We walked out with a mix of new and used gear that was all top-notch. I don't think I have had a better retail experience in my 58 years of life then I did today. Play it Again Sports brought a unique combination of excellent selection and helpful, knowledgeable staff who were clearly proactively rooting for my son and I to have the very best possible experience. It was clear that their motivation was not only about the sales experience, but actively thinking about their own experiences on the mountain and being 13 years old, in a shared desire to make sure that my son fell in love with a sport and did not have equipment challenges that caused him to sour on the prospect. Not to mention the fact that the price was exceptionally reasonable for the quality of gear that was available. Our kids grow quick and they barely use their stuff before that no longer fits so why not take advantage of that? I am not one prone to hyperbole, but my mother taught me that if I don't have anything nice to say, I should say nothing at all. This was a day where I can only say nice things. read more

Friendly, attentive staff that seems genuinely happy to be there. Good selection of equipment.

The best place for getting gear for a slew of sports at a great price. I was able to buy my son (9) catchers gear as he is learning to play, and I know he will grow out of the gear before too long. Even found a used composite softball bat that my daughter wants to buy but hasn't ever tried. Excited to let her try it out before buying her a new bat. read more

Everything went just like it should. Smooth and cheap. Found exactly what I was looking for and more.

Wow, just wow. I wandered in, hoping against hope that they might have a totally summer seasonal item that generally is nowhere to be found, especially in the month of December. Reef shoes for walking on rocks, attempting not to be beyond miserable doing so. Technically, I am old, shocker I know, so normally I'm very, very used to being ... UMMmm how do I put this delicately? Ignored. Gray hair, glasses, a little disheveled, you know the look. Probably one of your grandparents, Ish. So I make my request, the guy happily goes down into the bowels of the basement (since it is a summer item) and comes back with a selection for me to choose from. A selection. He must've actually listened to me regarding my size as the cutest pair I've ever seen, on earth, colorful, festive, not just in black, fit me perfectly. I truly didn't realize how I'm so used to just getting "the look" (that blank stare that makes me realize I have no idea how to explain what I'm looking for clearly ). I thank everybody profusely, paid and left. I wish I was actually physically active and did things outdoors so I could figure out more stuff that I could buy there. I love Mom & Pop retailers . I really love Mom &Pop stores who are good at what they do. Anyway, thank you PLAY IT AGAIN so much and your selection of New and used everything was exhilarating. I might even buy a wetsuit based on how friendly and pleasant the associate was. What I would do with one. I can't even imagine but by golly I now know where I would get it. read more

This our go to sports equipment store for our entire family. Every time our kids start a new season of sports we stop in. They have good gear, reasonable prices and a helpful staff! read more

This is my SPOT i love this store with a passion. Nice selection of darts and billiards equipment. With covid 19 all bars and billiards are closed. So during quarantine I bought myself a pool table and over the past months I have been buying a ton of accessories. I would rather come here than give my money to a chain store like: Dicks sporting goods or Big 5. They have a good selection of various sports equipment. I use to come here a lot when I was a kid. I'm not sure if Tom Frankle still works here, but the staff has definitely changed since my last visit.. The service is still unbeatable, if you can't find what you are looking the staff members are eager and willing to help. Some of the big stores have more stuff, but if you can get the same stuff cheaper why not? So I suggest you shop here and support a local small business like Play it again sports. They have my loyalty and business for sure! read more

Play It Again Sports - Ready for a game of pool - Sporting Goods Near Me - Soquel, California

This place is awesome! I went in during the summer to search for a snowboard, and one of the employees helped my mom and I figure out which size worked. This was during off season so the snow gear was on a different floor, but I really like the concept of Play it Again Sports. Especially for those just beginning new activities, it's a wonderful resource if you aren't trying to drop a ton of money on new gear that you may or may not use in the future. They also have a cool frisbee section and giant workout equipment. Yes it is a cute size, but I definitely wouldn't say that is a negative! Highly recommend! read more

Fantastic selection, courteous and knowledgeable service, and great prices! Especially awesome 2nd hand items! I've bought several sets of snow equipment including an adult snowboard / boots and kids skis / boots / poles. They have been high quality (awesome bindings on the snowboard), and we've always found what we were looking for. The staff and manager are professional, friendly, and great to work with. We drove down an hour from the South Bay and it's worth the trip every time! Highly recommended. We'll be back! read more

I went in for used golf clubs today. The salesperson was knowledgeable and patient with me as I tried out several nice clubs. The service was top notch as well as the selection to choose from. I decided to checkout the Pickleball section and was delighted to see so many top tier paddles to chose from! I'm impressed with selection and prices of Pickleball gear. Thanks Play it Again! read more

The owner is unbelievably helpful, thoughtful, and great with kids. He and his staff went far beyond the call of duty helping our family find good quality and affordable snow gear. Plus he explained that when it is outgrown we can bring it back and get a credit toward another item. Now this is what you call sustainability and goodwill!!!! read more

Nice, helpful young gentlemen behind the counter, as I was gathering up items for my kid's first year of t-ball. My only complaint would be the size of the place. It is tight in there! There is a lot of product and a lot of people everywhere. I kept tripping over storage boxes under displays, and it it needs a face light with actual aisles. read more

Incredible selection and service. I have been to many Play It Again Sports...Andrew and his team are outstanding!

At the beginning of January I left my Pickleball Paddle at Skypark in Scott's Valley. I had a lot of people looking out for it. One of my friends was playing Pickleball and noticed another friend with a paddle like mine. He said he bought it from Play it Again Sports last week. After contacting them and returning the Paddle (he was refunded), they tried to figure out if it was mine. Long story short the Paddle was retuned to me. Everyone there that I talked with was professional and courteous. Thank you Andrew and James for your help and returning my paddle. Greatly appreciated. read more

Playit Again is a great company providing a wonderful selection of pre-owned sports equipment.

Great second hand sports store in Santa Cruz with everything from baseball gear to skateboards. The prices are great for good condition sports gear. The best thing about this store though, is the customer service. The employees go out of their way to help you find whatever you are looking for. They are always friendly and very knowledgeable about the store and sports in general. Overall, if you are looking for a sports store in Santa Cruz with helpful staff and a great selection of products, this is the place to go. read more

Mom and pop joints seem to be a trend with my reviews this month. So the BF got rid of his original tower power (pull up/ab tower) but then realized he made a mistake once he started getting into calisthenics/old school work out routines. Oops.... Not wanting to spend a grip of money on a new piece of gym equipment he went here. The local television always has their ads about great customer service and decent prices on used equipment. The commercials lived up to the hype. The BF spent a while over there but came back victorious. He was super happy with his purchase and the person who worked with him similar to Courtney's experience was patient and took the time to go over all options. So in our garage is this piece of equipment and while doing the laundry the bf can get his work out on... I would totally recommend this place over Big 5 ANY DAY. read more

Great store and staff! We upgraded our home gym with a rowing machine and a spin-bike. Also were able to sell back our old stationary bike, which was fantastic. They were helpful, navigating us through all the equipment and choices they have, pros and cons. No one pressed us to buy or what to buy. But instead helped us make a more informed decision, and only because we asked for their input. Everyone was genuine, from the sales person, to the manager, to the two delivery men. We own a treadmill from this store that's over a decade old and it's in great condition! This is definitely the place to go to if you're looking for gym equipment or sports supplies. read more

Customer Service... Play it Again Sports rocks! I just called to inquire if they had tennis racquets, other than those shown online. The man that answered the phone said "let me check." When he came back to tell me they did, I asked about price points...again,"let me check that for you." In this day and age, it is so refreshing to have a business that will physically move their bodies to help a customer, not once but twice. I'm on my way to get some racquets and will continue to support this community (and customer!) minded business-- thanks PIAS for your old school style. Love it! read more

Thank you Dustin, and thank you Play it Again Sports. Everything about the transaction was easy and we got exactly what we needed. Highly recommend. read more

I called to see if they had any hutch-bike-racks. Tgentleman on the phone took the time to go downstairs and look for me. He read off all the hitch- bike-racks to me. So I turned around and went to the store. I found exactly what I anted. Brand new open box dropped off by somebody who made the wrong purchase couldn't return it. Their loss my gain. The best part is they put it together, put it on my truck, and taught me how to use it! Now, I don't know about you, but I think that is outstanding, unheard of, go-out of your way type customer service! We have shopped here for forever and they are always awesome. Yesterday only solidified my already loyalty to them! Thanks guys!!! read more
