A month ago I stopped by their show room and Arne, the manager for Standard Supply looked at my videos, my receipts from 8 years ago, the schematics for the respective systems and told me that their team should be able to help me get warranty replacements from Grohe and respectively, Kohler. A few days later, Johnny reached out to me via email and phone with details on the parts that he researched with the respective manufacturers and told me that I should receive the necessary parts from both of them at no cost, no tax, no shipping!!!! Johnny explained to me that a couple of factors contributed to this good news: 1. Grohe and Kohler offer lifetime warranties on their products and they back those warranties up with actual parts. Yes, they may be more expensive, but in time, gaskets or other parts wear off due to hot water, high usage, water deposits, etc. With a lifetime warranty, they will send the replacement parts for free. 2. The fact that I actually kept all the original receipts from Standard Plumbing enabled Arne & Johnny to determine that I made the purchases in their store. Sometimes, companies and stores like Standard Plumbing will change their computer systems, databases, etc, and in the process, there are instances where very old records are not retained. So, keeping the invoices was crucial in the investigations of what exactly was ordered 8 years ago, to make it easy to work with the manufacturers. I truly appreciate the professionalism and great support received from both of them, and I know that for as long as Standard Plumbing Supply is in business, I have a great team of plumbing experts that I can rely upon for any further plumbing related needs. I was at the beginning stages of my projects and trying to figure it all out and she spent time with me. Today, I was trying to find a specific toilet and spoke to Johnny. He was very helpful and helped me decide (I had spent the past week trying to figure out toilets!). I wasn't able to wait the length of time it would take to buy the toilet from Standard Plumbing Supply but I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants to find people who care, are informative and have great customer service. Fortunately I had saved one of the boxes the bulbs had come in so I took it out of the drawer where it was and put it in the car. After Nina and I had lunch today at Picante I went over to Laner. I parked and walked in, where I was greeted by a woman who told me the man coming out from the back would help me. I didn't ask his name. I showed him the box and told him I had bought the bulbs in November of 2021 and asked how long they were supposed to last. He said between 5 and 10 years if used 8 hours a day. He said they didn't burn out, they just got dimmer and dimmer and I said that was what had happened. I asked if there were any a bit brighter and he brought one out, but cautioned me that it was longer than the one I had, which was very helpful, because it wouldn't have fit the fixture. He gave me the one that was the right size and when I asked him how much I owed him he said 'nothing'. I did not expect that and appreciated it. I brought it home and either I will ask my neighbor to install it or wait for next week when my house cleaner is here. Fortunately I don't use that bathroom as much as I used to since I'm taking showers rather than baths these nights, so I'm not in a huge hurry to have the bulb replaced, although it will be nice to be able to turn on the light when I go in there at night.
