I went in for one of their bag drops, and while the store was very crowded, that wasn't the issue. The problem was the employees specifically one girl who was extremely rude to customers as they walked in. She was using a megaphone and gave directions in a very harsh and unfriendly way. Her tone was unnecessary and made the experience uncomfortable. I also witnessed her get into a couple of verbal altercations with other customers because of how rude she was being. I felt uncomfortable and definitely wouldn't want to return to that spot. read more

I have visited the Plato's Closet in Roseville and it was an awesome store. Scored on some cool stuff so I decided to take my used clothes into the Plato's closet in Modesto ca. I packed my car with 5 bags of nice brand name clothes, some with tags And drove 1 hour to get there. I left my clothes went to Trader Joe's came back and was told that they were only taking 11 of my items Out of 5 bags I was appalled! And also the store was trashy and so were the employees. I hope the person running the store reads yelp and can maybe fix the issue. And giving them one star was being very generous! read more

Do NOT sell your clothes here. The whole place is terrible, it smells like shit and im not even joking. And the fake smiles the employees give you really ticks me off. I dont understand why it takes 3 whole hours to look over 2 shirts, and when i came to pick it up they didnt even offer anything. I would recommend going to offer up or facebook to sell your clothes, please do not go here. Sad part is this isnt the first time this has happened to me, countless times ive tried giving platos a chance to make my experience better. And they always fail. They have so much stuff for cheap and now they cant sell it. For the love of all thats retail and good, here are three suggestions I am begging the staff to make: 1. Accurate time estimates for clothing sales 2. Just tell me what youre buying. I didnt ask you why you didnt but my other clothes for severely under market value. 3. Make some effort to be nice. I didnt want to come in here with 2000 dollars worth of jeans because I got fat, but I have to beg you for $36 dollars, at the very least you can make me feel better about this process. read more

I usually always come here to sell my clothes.. but my most recent experiences here aren't it. I will not be coming back. Most of the girls are pretty young and honestly super rude. I usually make pretty good sales! But these past few times have been awful. They make you wait for an hour just to pick out 3 items... I'm pretty sure the girl who was picking out items was just shopping for herself... Not only that but a lot of the clothes they sell are literally she in clothes... not even quality stuff. ‍ Ultimately if you want to get scammed for ur clothing please come here!! What a complete disaster. This place needs someone at the door. My daughter had to go return something before the receipt expired so we went. It was horrible! The line went around the inside of the store. The doors could never close so it was 100 degrees in there. Way too many people and not enough registers for the crowd. I love it here! This is my favorite place to go thrifting. They don't have a whole lot for men, so they're definitely for the girlies! My only complaint is they kiiiinda rip you off when you sell their clothes to them. Tags, expensive brands, or not, don't be expecting tons of money back. My clothes were 90% new and I was given no value for anything due to "seasonal" clothing. Store and process for clothes being values is pretty gross and chaotic. Don't waste your time. Don't waste your time coming here to try to sell your clothes! They'll take 1 to zero items! Im not the only one wasted my time, plenty of others. They have a sign stating what they are accepting and you'll have a bag of the clothes that fit the criteria and they still won't take them. Great condition and all! Smh. I've been coming here for years to sell my clothes but ever since a year or two ago they have been more stringent about the clothes they buy and providing less and less money for the amount you give. I always recommend people to arrive early, if not, right when they open so you aren't waiting for a long period of time. I was the 3rd person in line on a Saturday morning and took roughly 45 minutes for them, which is not bad at all. The staff are usually always great, not rude, despite the other comments. They explain why they aren't choosing certain clothes. I sold 26 pieces for clothing only for $102 which is not a lot at all when you break it down by piece. Note: any amount that's over $100, they will give you a check instead! I'll still come back here because it's one of the few places that purchase clothes in the area. read more

Idk I've never been here but I came in to try to sell like 6 pairs of American Eagle jeans that I bought within the last 3-4 years that were hardly worn only to be told none of it will be accepted for cash which makes no sense. American eagle is very popular and expensive so I'm not sure who makes the decisions on what is bought. Lol looking around the store they literally are selling what I was trying to sell them. Everytime I ever come here, they take maybe a maximum of five items and try to lowball me.. which is honestly fine because most of the time I'm just trying to get rid of items.. and at the end I always ask can I leave these leftover items that you didn't take for donations? And they tell me they don't take donations .. wellllll today I went to go pick up my items and I was informed that my gray storage container, which I purchased for 49.99 from target, was " accidentally" donated this morning. They only took 4 of my things and were going to offer me $12 but couldn't find the rest of my stuff. I don't even care about the leftover clothing because I was going to drop it off to the Salvation Army anyway but I'm pissed about my $50 storage container that I normally use for moving. And their employee, Ladonna or however you spell her name was rude as hell. read more

Stumbled upon this Plato by accident and was not disappointed. They have a great selection of clothes for both men and women, but you have to be willing to dig and work hard . They also have clearance item where all red stickers are 50% the price. Not a 5 star is because some of the men's shoes they take in are basically unwearable or really bad shape, like probably should be in the dumpster type of shoe. But other then that I would def be going back to look for treasures!!! read more

RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL don't bother taking your clothes in, they wanted to buy 5 pairs of Levi's and a cotton on shirt with tags ( that's 35 on the website) for 20! They also gave me a coupon for 5 dollars that I was going to use after I had walked around the stores nearby, when I came back and got the clothes I put on hold so that I could buy them they told me I couldn't use the coupon because I didn't use it when I sold the jeans which no where on the coupon does it say that, it says valid through the day. After we started asking why the manager grabbed the coupon and ripped it in front of us. They barely pay your for clothes are ALWAYS rude which is why they have three stars and end up selling the clothes for triple the price.(mostly SHEIN shirts that would be less on the website) I hope the managers pillow is scolding hot on both sides anyways that's it. read more

I dropped off a 20x20 Home Depot box with lots of barely used branded clothing and waited 1 1/2 hr for them to finish and when I came back to the store they only choose to buy 5 items and when I went through the box when I got home, there was a lot of items missing. Safe to say that they stole some of it without paying me. I wouldn't mind them just asking for it since I'll be donating it anyways but the point was THEY WERE DISHONEST. Definitely hit or miss, usually a miss. Every time I go in here with big bags of brand-name clothes I expect to make bank but I don't. Today I took a huge bag of my brothers stuff and they always say they need men's items and they took five things and gave me a whole $23. That bag had a name brand things like Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, the north, face and vans. I am very disappointed, do not waste your time here. Use poshmark, OfferUp or even sell on social media. I've had a great experience buying AND selling here. I think people need to understand they only buy clothing that THEIR clientele find trendy, and inventory they need. I drive 30 minutes to go to this location. TIP - call ahead of time of look on their Instagram to ask / see what clothing they are looking for. And feel free to ask why they passed on your items!
