Ok yesterday I dropped off a 10 lbs bag of clothes. All of the clothes were in beautiful shape name brand. Purses as well. Tags on them etc. I have a spinal condition but managed to drag the bag in. I came back after 1 hr after I received the text they were done. The gentleman said unfortunately we can't take any of your items due to some not selling . I thought what??? Now I have been here before so I do know how they work. So I said ok I will donate them. The manager pipes up out of nowhere in a very very rude manner and states we are not taking donations at this time. So I responded ok. Well I can't lift the bag. My spine is bad. She said basically oh well. Well the other gentleman said I'm sorry mam I will help you and kindly brought the bag to my car. I thanked him. I honestly could NOT believe how she acted so unprofessional. I have sold with them before and my clothes are worth a lot of money and in great shape. I will not be selling with them any more. First things first this overpriced Salvation Army is a joke. Never once have I had a good experience in this store. They claim to have great items and post them all over social media but when you go to buy them they are never available. Doesn't make much sense to me to hold 70% of there halfass items in a storage unit. Most of there items are torn, stained, and straight up in horrible condition. They are not flexible at all with the pricing and have no idea what the value of anything they have it worth. They try to sell $30 bikes sneakers from Ross for $60 but sell Jordan's for $40 just doesn't make any sense. I think the ownership is the reason this place is going to go out of business they are a bunch of money scamming assholes who don't care about how or what they are providing to there customers, all they care about is there profit margin on there income statement at the end of the year. Lastly the thing that really pisses me off is how they sell fake designer. On there instagram they show the best pictures and claim they are all authentic even though when you go in and see them they feel like quality you would get at a Chinatown market. No Gucci shoes says the US size for example a size 8 but they say a number like eu 44 well at platos all the design says US sizing inside the shoes so doesn't add up. This place is a huge joke with a bunch of idiot employees and shitty owners who will go to any extreme to steal your hard earned money your better off going to a goodwill or Salvation Army. read more

I come here often to exchange clothes and have never really been disappointed until my experience today. I also don't usually write posts but today I felt obligated to as my experience was just terrible. I arrived at 5:30 with two bags in hand where the wait, i was told, would be 20-30 minutes. After nearly two hours of waiting when the store had more employees working than customers, they only took 9 of my items for 22 dollars. I feel like for waiting as long as I did, I should of either been out of their in the recommended time I was told to wait or received more money. I was visiting Pennsylvania for the week and my girlfriend gave me the tour of her job here at plato's closet. It was an awesome experience and I was extremely impressed with the staff and the pace in which they conducted their work. I was in the market for some fashionable clothing at good prices and Platos was everything that I could want. The staff were awesome and helpful, letting me use the fitting room. Not for me. Personally, I don't like clothing that isn't good quality aka the majority of junior's clothing. I had hoped that they would have clothing that was not the usual tissue paper thin, one time wear clothing. Unfortunately, any clothing of good quality was much more expensive than the rest. I brought in three full bags to sell and I left for a little took two hours and thirty minutes for them to look through all and when I got back I saw the one girl looking through my stuff but honestly barley ! Literally threw it back in the bag didn't even take the time to look ! I honestly don't understand this store. I took two bags of brand name clothes to the store and some guy named Troy went thru it. I was offered $2.80 for one sweater?! Really! My daughter took about 15 items including 2 pair of Lucky Brand jeans and a pair of JCrew jeans that were never worn. There were two other pieces that still had tags on them. When she handed me $27 I thought she was joking! No joke, they average $1.50 per item. Luckily I didn't take the clothes myself because I would've probably walked right back out. I really love this store. The store always smells so clean and fresh and the friendly smiles and hellos as soon as you walk in the door are welcoming!! The young men are nice and always willing to hold the door for you Jesse and TJ both made a great impression. I complimented one of the associates Emma about her jeans and she said I got them here at plato's you should totally come look for some....So I did and I ended up buying 2 pair that I absolutely love! Brought in 2 massive bags full of jcrew, madewell, juicy couture, and nordstrom clothing along with several barely used coach purses and they took about 6 items for $24. I assumed top name brands would be in demand but I guess I was wrong. Don't waste your time washing and organizing your clothes. You're much better off giving them to friends or donating them. Huge waste of my time and gas. Employees asked me several times if I needed help, very overbearing. Felt very rushed and attacked by them. Store was crowded and hectic at 230 in the afternoon. Their selection of clothing is great for tanks/tees but not much else. I usually try to keep an open mind but my experiences are not pleasant at this store. I have been to not only several Plato's Closets, but also tons of consignment shops in general and I have to say this Plato's in Exton beats out the rest by MILES! When you walk in you are greeted by tons of smiling faces and workers with all different types of styles. If you are selling items to platos you come in with your bag and they take your information and then take the time needed to go through all your items. When I was here it took about twenty minutes which is not bad at all; I have been to other places where it took hours. The staff is trained to go through your clothes and accessories throughly to make sure there are no stains or any other damage done to the clothes. The staff is also very aware of what is in style as the time. I appreciated that they only take the best of the best so I know that every time I buy I am getting great quality, as well as things that are in style. I believe that by being as accurate as they are you are always getting a great value for what you are selling. If you are coming in here to buy clothes you may just pass out with excitement if it's your first time. They have so many amazing brands that you will never get fair prices for! They have something for everyone including northface, uggs, Tory Burch, Steve Madden, vans, billabong, forever 21, coach! The list goes on and on! This is a one stop shop when it comes to christmas shopping! They have things for everyone is the family. The best part about your shopping experience is how helpful the staff is. I went in one time and I said I wanted a lot of bohemian vibe things for the summer. A staff member went through the store with me and helped me pick out different things I may enjoy. When I started trying on things, she didn't stop then! She kept looking for things that would please me! It was such a big help and I really appreciated it because I can easily get overwhelmed by shopping. I got so many amazing items of such great quality that were all priced amazing! If you have the chance you have to take the time to follow this platos on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook. Everyday they post pictures of items they just got in. They just recently started doing cyber days for people that may not be able to get there everyday because of their location! The deal is you can call and pay with your credit card and they will hold the item for you! This is my favorite, because I live two hours away, but I can never resist a great deal! Plato's Closet has awesome stylish clothing for a great price and they are very active on Instagram. Plato's allow their followers to purchase items that have been posted on their IG page, which is very convenient. They put together decent outfits and display them on IG, as well. In terms of buying items- Plato's is ok. In terms of seeling- don't even bother. Two friends of mine received $20 for 4 items that total at least $200 retail. Plato's then resells for 70% of the value. This just doesn't make sense. Keep your clothes- give them to friends or family- it makes more sense than getting 10% of the value for your high-end clothing. Or take it to a reputable Consignment boutique. read more

I brought in a lot of clothes and during me collecting my money, the lady told me to bring in things that were new. This branch of Platos Closet has a fairly good selection but the assistance for staff is very hit or miss. Some employees have been very friendly, eager to help, and kind during the process. Others have been arrogant, condescending, short, and unhelpful. The sales at this branch are also hit or miss - not very well-organized and not living up to the expectations of the marketing. This is a great place to find high end name brands for a fraction of retail prices. I took my 12 year old daughter and she found a pair of uggs in excellent condition for $55.00. I have gotten designer jeans like citizens of humanity and 7 for all mankind for $30 or less. They have all the name brands my daughter likes and some of my favorites as well. Another nice thing is that if you bring clothes in they will look at them on the spot and pay you cash for items they would like to keep. The service is outstanding. I wish that there was one closer to me, so when I come here I try to make it when there are some good sale going on, which is only once in a while. Great gently used clothes at great prices. Plus a great way to get rid of clothes I don't wear anymore. They could pay a bit more, but still a great store. They are always very friendly when I come in, and treat me with respect. I do feel that they did not treat some of my brand-name, gently used items as if they were valuable, because I know they would have sold based on what I've seen in the men's section in the store. however they did accept A lot of my shoes that I have brought in, but again, did not pay me exactly what I would have liked. As a shopper, I absolutely love their selection and prices. I know That I could sell my clothes elsewhere for a little bit more, but the friendly staff makes me want to come back, and their inventory is just great, so I will except a bit less for what I'm selling because I can purchase great items at a great price. I do enjoy this platos. I like the set up for selling clothing here, they make the process very easy. I sometimes feel overwhelmed in this store because there's so much, and some of the items I wonder why they have decided to purchase them. I also sometimes feel like their nicer brands they receive (i.e. Lily Pulitzer, Tory Burch, etc.) get priced a little high because it's rare for them to get that in this area. Plato's Closet is one of my favorite stores. The Exton one is probably the best location I've been to, mostly because of the size. It's so big that you can get lost in there for hours! They have an entire wall dedicated just to boots (in addition to all the heels and sneakers they put on top of the racks of clothes.) I also appreciate that they take the time to sort all the clothes by color and type (athletic wear, skirts, jeans, short-sleeved and long-sleeved shirts, etc). It makes things so much easier when you have something specific in mind. They also set up these cute displays that feature different trends and colors, which I like. Price-wise, it's not like it's Goodwill or anything. You're going to find a few items that are overpriced for what they are. I do question some of the merchandise they accept because they can be really worn. However, most of what they have ends up being a pretty good deal. It's really up to you to weed out what's worth it or not. I've gotten a moto jacket there for $12, and Nine West flats for $9. Most shirts I get there are $8-$12. I've also found Urban Outfitters tops there for $18 and under. Compared to the actual price range of UO tops, which is $30-60, that's pretty reasonable. So if you find something more expensive, it's probably because it's from a more expensive brand. The employees there are not bad. They greet you when you enter, occasionally ask if you need anything, and there's always someone to give you a dressing room. What more do you want? I've seen a few negative reviews about their recent 90% off grab-bag sale. Might I point out, everything was 90% off? I found $230 worth of merchandise and got it for $23! Yes, the lines were extremely long, but it's not the store's fault. There were plenty of employees, but with such a great sale there was bound to be a line backup. I found so many great things at the sale, including things from Forever 21, H&M and even Urban Outfitters, and each item ended up being under $2. That's absolutely crazy. This location took a Lilly skirt from me, offered me 5.80 and then sold it for 65 dollars. So you are getting less than 10% of what they sell. They used to have good prices, but lately its been terrible. They have old navy and forever 21 stuff selling for maybe 1-5 dollars under retail. They also done wash or clean the clothes so the store smells so strongly of the perfume they need to use to cover up the scent of used clothes. I have sold here for several years. Today clinched it for me, never again. I had several NWT items with desirable brands which I had bought at Bloomingdales. I was pretty much appalled when I walked into the store. I've been in better looking thrift shops. I brought in two 20 gallon tubs of clothing and an IKEA bag full of t-shirts. They told me it would take 30-45 minutes to go through everything. I waited around the store 30 minutes. Left and came back and still didn't see my name up on the "cleared" board. Left again and finally asked if my clothing (still in the tubs where I left them) had been reviewed. The girl apologized profusely for making me wait so long. They did not take ONE single item. When they say they are geared towards TEENS, they mean it. Forget it if you're over 40. Don't waste your time washing and organizing your clothes. Everything on their hangers looks like it's been slept in. You're much better off giving your clothes to friends or donating them. Huge waste of my time and gas. I've bought at plato's closet for a few years now. A couple years ago, their clothes were absolutely adorable! But recently, I've been finding very unattractive stuff in the store. I even found rips and stains in clothing that they were selling. Gross. Today, I went in with two huge tote bags full of designer things. Most of the clothing still had tags or hadn't even been worn yet. However, they turned down everything except for one pair of jeans and two pairs of sandals. These items were over $200 combined at the retail price. The jeans had been gently used and the sandals were never used. They offered me $10. You'd be better off going to a real consignment store if you want to sell your old clothes. read more

The way that the staff conduct themselves is very unprofessional. I know that they are teenage girls, as am I, but it is no excuse. Today I brought in a bag of things and they ended up accepting some of the items. However, I was checking out clothes on the racks when I saw them picking stuff out of my bag and trying it on right in front of everyone to see. Then they were talking to each other about how they liked some of the items and did not like others.
