I was surprised to see their Enfield location had such a low Yelp rating, because I thought the store was pretty good on a lot of features. #1 - The store was very neat and very well organized with plenty of signs indicating the various sizes of clothing. #2 - The store had a TON of clothing -men's women's, accessories, etc. #3 - Pricing seemed pretty nice -I saw a few gorgeous pairs of like-new sneakers (Saukony) for just $15. Genuinely don't understand how Plato's Closet is still in business. The attitudes in this store are insane for people working a resale counter. Staff act like they're doing you a favor just by acknowledging you, and the buying process is a joke. They'll turn down items that are basically brand new while their racks are full of worn-out, questionable pieces. Make it make sense. Plato's closet used to be a great store with quality items , they now stock the shelves with items the goodwill probably wouldn't even take . The DIRTIEST run down looking sneakers priced at $50, oil stained shirts , ripped clothing . It's a shame , there's no quality control anymore . Occasionally you find a gem. They need to do a better job at checking the clothes before putting them on the rack for sale. Most people don't want to buy clothes will obvious stains and soil marks. It's really hit or miss but that's the same for most second hand stores. read more

The Enfield, Connecticut Plato's Closet is horrible, I would not recommend anyone bring their clothes there. We made a short list of our items and the girl said to us, "Why did you make a list?" "Do you think we are stealing?" "Even if we were you'd never find out list or no list." Her remarks went on to bizarre levels. making us believers that she felt GUILTY of stealing extra items from customers. In addition, she appeared to be on drugs or alcohol because her breath was terrible. Stay away from the Enfield, Connecticut Plato's Closet because they steal your clothes and pay you 50 cents per item for new clothes. Nasty attitude and worse customer service ever, It was like this girl wanted to start an argument for no apparent reason. We always jotted down the items in order to keep track and she got sooo offended. Her petty theft came out pretty fast. Criminals show their their colors if you do something they FEAR will out them and get them caught. These people are extremely rude and make inappropriate comments in front of children which is the worst part of this entire experience. read more

Meh... it's okay. If you dig really hard you can definitely find something, but a lot of the clothes have that "been in the laundry too many times" feel to it. I'm not really a fan of how this branch is structured either. Shoes are spread out throughout the store and the bottom rack of clothes is really low, so it's incredibly bad for my back :/ Most of the brands they carry include: Hollister, Charlotte Russe, Old Navy, and Express. Though it's reasonably priced, the items are definitely geared towards teenie-boopers. read more

I went to ask "Sam" a question in regards to a purse. I gave it to her and she literally thew it back at me very aggressive. No one should be tested this way ! what she did? was Highly disrespectful and absolutely repulsive! she did not care of what she had done. did this in front of costume. she has a nasty attitude and definitely NOT a people person. she's very aggressive. what she did? I've shopped here before and the selection is ok. Some of the clothes they put out have stains and imperfections. However, I recently stopped in and talked to a male employee. I tailed him I have a carload of clothes to bring in and if they can handle going through it (10am). He said yes bring them in. I brought the 8 bags. Was told I'd get a call back within 2 hours. 4hours later I call them and they said they've been done. I go to pick up the clothes. They said all wasn't good. Their was clothes brand new (tags on) LL Bean, Burton, Old Navy, Forever 21, Gap and more. They went through 2 bags and couldn't bother looking through the rest. Wasted my time. My advice. DONT GO HERE the FEMALES WERE RUDE. Go to a different one. Or Take 2 bags or less because they are too lazy to go through everything. read more

I wanted to sell my clothing so I went and was told I had to wait 15 mins. So I waited and about 15 Mins later. I go in and they still aren't done with my thing's. So then she started on me. I got a text saying my order was processed. So I come up. And was told I could only get a little over a dollar for my shirt. And what she didn't tell me until the very end is my other shirt had stains on it which it did not! So I said ok accepted the offer. And then she decided as soon as i was putting money in my wallet to throw the box on the counter with my shirt and that was it not even friendly. I do not reccomend going to this business as I wasted more than it's worth. The girls at the counter are very rude and snarky and entitled and unfriendly and unkind and unwelcoming they all seem mad you can read the room... And for no reason whatsoever. read more

Name brand gently clothes for discount prices? Yes, please. Went here for the first time today. They seem much larger than the East Longmeadow location (now closed, I think) and they were extremely busy on a Saturday afternoon. The store was arranged pretty well (sectioned off by brand, Abercrombie, PINK by Victoria's Secret, American Eagle, etc) and other clothes were mixed in and separated by size. The clothes are in pretty awesome condition because the process used by the sales girls to check the clothing is very rigorous. They have to be semi-current fashions (in the mall within the past two years) freshly laundered and free of any stains, rips, or wear. However, I did notice some articles that were a bit pilly...and keep in mind that just because something says it's a certain size doesn't mean it hasn't been shrunk by the original wearer! Trying on clothing first at this store is super important. (Also: I tried on this great pair of jeans that were labeled a size 10 and hung on the size 10 rack. They fit great and were actually much looser than my usual size 10s. I bought them and took them home only to find out that the tag inside read SIZE 14. Now, come ON, that's just damn depressing.) I think my favorite part of this store is that they leave you alone to just SHOP. I hate constantly being hassled by people who want to know, "Are you finding everything all right?" I understand that is supposedly "good customer service" (and I've worked retail enough to know it's a requirement to say such things!) but really, I am the type of person who, if I need help, I will seek out someone and ASK for it.) I enjoyed being able to go in and out of the fitting rooms without someone fussing over me (yes, there is a 6 item limit. I'm not a rule breaker, I hung my extras on the back of the door for later!) Very disappointed! Brought in numerous items, most bought right from Plato's Closet. Still in great condition. The staff only acknowledged me when i walked in. The whole time i was in the store, the staff was bad mouthing other workers. Of the 3 bags of clothes I brought, they took 5 things. Most were still NWT from Hollister, AERO and other name brand clothing stores! The sales associate wouldn't even look at me when she read the reasons why they didn't take the rest off a card! The worst part about this place is that the employees just complain about being at work and bad mouth their co-workers so loud that everyone can hear. I also brought in quite a lot of clothes - many new with tags from the past year - and they took nothing after a 1.5 hour wait (I was told it would be 45 min). Rude! Rude! Rude! Customer Service is nonexistent! Every Plato's Closet I have been in is staffed by the rudest collection of "mean girls" I have ever witnessed. Is in a perquisite to have majored in ignore the paying customer at the register? Isn't that where you should at least acknowledge their presence and happily take their money? Money that keeps you actually employed? Is it more important to sort and/or hang clothes behind the counter or talk to your bff who just walked in the door? It's as though customers wanting to actually PAY FOR THEIR PURCHASES are kept interminably waiting, as though an annoyance. Customers, when greeted, appear to be selectly so , based on some " nose in the air" standards set by the "It Girls". I can't possibly be the only adult who feels these negative vibes in this rather uninspired resale shop. My daughter, 24, finds some okay things there, but the prices are comparable to a good sale at H&M or Forever21.We spend about $100.00 a year there, so big customers we aren't. Simply imagine the money Plato is losing if you multiply more than a few unhappy customers spending their hundreds elsewhere . Better be glad I wanted those boots or out the door empty handed went I. Clothes are sorted by category and size. Some clothes, especially tees are a little overpriced for their condition, worn and some faded. Generally, okay for a resale shop but prices are too high considering the dollar amount the seller receives for their items. i decided to go through all my cloths for the summer and came across a lot of cloths I've never wore and out Grew so i decided to come and sell the cloths at the end field store today, all I have to say is save the time and trip out of two bags of unused cloths or cloths that I take very good care of they proceeded to tell me that my clothes had rips and holes in them and that they cannot take them, this is my first time writting a review and I'm not happy very rude people in that store step your game up. read more

Completely horrendous, don't waste your time. Brought multiple popular brand items (Coach, Kenneth Cole, Gap, Abercrombie ) to sell and was told they were too nice to re sell or had a speck of dirt, hence they were ruined and worthless. What? ! It's a resale clothing store! Completely ridiculous. The person deciding to accept or deny the clothes looked like a complete mess of a person without an iota of fashion sense. I came here to sell and was only acknowledged when I brought stuff in. The other CT locations (Wethersfield, South Windsor) that I sold stuff at would send a text message notification when your stuff is processed but not this location. When I came in, the workers saw me but didn't say anything. The only girl who noticed me said she would take care of me after her current customer. When she was done with that customer, she ended up taking a second customer and mouthed "sorry". Horrible customer service!!!! I do not recommend going here to sell your stuff! read more

I brought in gently used items: A navy blue Hollister sweater, A white v neck Hollister T-Shirt, 2 Aeropostale Cami's (worn once each), a Forever 21 grey with navy blue stripes sweater, and a Forever 21 dress. They only accepted the dress and gave me $2.67. The dress was worn twice, so there was no wear on it. They don't accept cami's so therefore, that didn't work. They were very choosey with what they like and blame it on "Well, we just type it in the computer." The more frustrating part of this, for me, was that I spent time ironing the clothing and folding it nicely and they threw what they didn't want back in my bag in a ball. Completely rude. Also, my sister brought in shoes that she had never worn from shoe dazzle (about $40 a pair) and they offered her $5 for 2 pairs. She passed on that offer since these shoes have never been worn. They weren't the friendliest people I have encountered and have a slight attitude. I'm not sure if every Plato's closet is like that but the Enfield, CT and South Windsor, CT staff are very rude. Definitely not taking my clothing here again when I know that I can sell it somewhere else and get more value for it. If you want to actually make money off of your gently used clothing, I suggest going through Facebook Sell or Local (non-corporate) consignment shops. read more

If it were possible to give this place a "zero" stars, I would. There didn't seem to be any customer service/satisfaction. This location was also very poorly arranged. I looked throughout the entire store just to find my size in shorts. And to top it off, they did not accept a single article of clothing I had to offer! Even if the clothes I had seemed to be in better condition than the ones they were selling. Went here with a big bag of clothes and they ended up taking only a couple of my items. After waiting 45 minutes they came with a bin of stuff and said that they could take the yankees shirt the nike and under armour sweatshirt and offered 14 dollars i explained how the sweatshirts have been worn by my son maybe once and they said that this was all they could offer. They then insulted the rest of the clothing saying they were selective and it was old. I took the rest of the stuff to the south windsor platos closet and they were worse took the rest of my sons sweatshirts and jordan shoes he barely wore and offered 20 dollars. Not even worth your time going big scam and their stuff is overpriced and i could get some of the items new at the mall for cheaper like 5 dollars for a h and m tank top i can get it new at the mall for that price. I brought 4 bags of designer clothing into Plato's and when I came back they told me they couldn't take anything although it seemed they had taken some and just decided not to pay me. Visited for the first time this week, and i kind of liked it! My only complaint is that nobody greets you or even acknowledges you. I was there a good hour and nobody said a word. Everytime i come in it is never a smooth process the previous time i came in 'the systems were down' so everything was slow and their was only like two people working. I went to get in line and a middle aged women agressively told me she was in line like i had no idea even though i was standing behind her. I replied okay... so we're standing here waiting and one of the workers starts to walk over to cash her out and the lady walks away to go look at other things so as shes looking the worker looks at me and says 'its fine i can just ring yours out real quick' OF COURSE i set my stuff down she begins to ring it out and this lady turns around and has a fit. Now its unpleasant for everyone, to make matters worse the cashier turns to the lady and has the nerve to say "im sorry she just walked up to the counter so i started ringing her out".... appalling to say the least. The most recent time i went in what do you know the systems are down once again so everything in the store is backed up. I was told to sell it would be a 30 minute wait and it ended up taking close to an hour and 20 minutes. So of course what am i doing while waiting ? Obviously wandering around the store. As i was trying to look at clothes their was a worker straightening out the shirt rack which i understand is your job however as im looking he blatantly walked in front of me continued to straighten the rack didnt say sorry didnt say excuse me nothing wouldnt even move just kept going like i wasnt even there. All in all just take the extra time/gas to go to the Plato's Closet in south windsor, overall much better in every aspect. read more

I have always found great deals at this store. Quality name brand items at a great price. Maybe once or twice I got an item where there was a small tear or broken zipper, but they will take it back within the 7 days (unless it's clearance). The shoes should be better displayed, I agree.
