I love this Boulder location! This location is really GREAT for snow bunnies. They have the best selection of snowboarding jackets, snow pants, etc. and the prices are fantastic. A Burton snowboarding jacket for $22?? Heck yes! The employees are really really friendly and the selection here is pretty broad, so I think anyone visiting would be able to find something to purchase. read more

It smelled really bad in there. I looked through, some of the clothes had stains on them. I heard their ad on the radio and I was curious. I like browsing when I go to any store, but it smelled like a dirty hamper and that made me leave within 5 min. of my visit. read more

I shopped at a Plato's Closet location in Raleigh, NC quite a bit and this one is by far better. The staff is friendly and very nice without being over-intrusive. The music does indeed suck, but I'm shopping for clothes and not spending my entire day in the store. The quality of their clothes is usually pretty good although I have found that some things are probably more worn than they should be. I paid $17 for a pair of used American Eagle jeans and they wore through the thighs within two weeks (FYI I am a size 9, nothing that would induce large amounts of crotch-ripping). However, I have found other great pairs of jeans, shirts, and outdoor gear for great prices. I cannot, however, figure out who they buy their clothes from! I consider myself relatively hip and have taken lots of brand-name garments, some worn only once or twice or not at all, and they pass on EVERYthing, saying that the clothing is too worn to buy. I don't know if that is a scripted response but it's downright confusing. I'll keep shopping there but will probably start leaning more toward The Buffalo Exchange unless they step some things up a couple of notches. read more

I must confess - I come here once every 2 weeks. Although, I give myself a $50 dollar budget on each visit. Upside - that $50 bucks gets me at LEAST 4 pieces on each visit. Serious. Take yesterday, for example - for the small price of $52 dollars (yes, I went over budget) I purchased: 1 jacket, 1 fur lined vest, 1 tank top, 1 oversized sweater, 1 cardigan, 1 pair of running shorts and 1 pair of sunglasses. I hit the retail jackpot. They have seasonal sales, with pieces starting at $1. ONE DOLLAR, people. Don't go on weekends, as you can wait anywhere from 15-30 mins just to get a fitting room. The employees are super nice (although I wish they wouldn't yell 'Welcome to Plato's Closet!!' every time I walk in) and they have a great punch card program where you get a punch for every $10 bucks you spend (you also get a punch for selling clothes!) which you can use for 20% off your next purchase. I finally finished a punch card and look forward to going back in 2 weeks to get my winter wardrobe started. Great place, great clothing (lots of free people, which is my favorite) and great prices. The clothes are current and are about $5-$10 cheaper than Buffalo Exchange. If you don't mind spending an hour looking through racks of clothing then this is the place for you. One more thing, and this is for the patrons: please please PLEASE do not bring your boyfriends here (unless they are shopping in the dude's section at the back of the store). There just isn't enough room in the aisles for people that aren't shopping and let's be honest, they don't want to be your personal shopping assistant. read more

The customer service when selling clothes at this location was terrible. When I walked in they told me they would be done in 15 minutes and it took over an hour. If you're running behind, at least let people know so they can plan their day. Also they completely misspelled my name on the "all done" board that lets you know your sale is ready so that I had to wait even longer because I was looking for my actual name. Also, they're really only into very current styles. I tried to sell back several name brand, good condition sweaters that were a bit old and they said they're only looking for pretty current stuff. This was less of a problem than the 90 minutes I wasted, but just a heads up. read more

I SUPER love this store. Amazing brands and a helpful, fun, adorable staff! Will keep coming back for more!

Most of the negative reviews on here seem to be from people who are mad that they didn't buy their items. After reading all the reviews on how awful everyone was at this location I was bracing myself when I came in to the store. But all the staff was very friendly and nice, I definitely recommend visiting this store. read more

Great selection overall. Olivia is the best salesperson I've ever met, super knowledgeable and suggested very good options as a man. She got on her hands and knees and cleaned a giant stain off the carpet too. What a trooper read more

If you're looking for cute clothes and jewelry at a good price, this is the place to go. It can be a bit cluttered, but if you know what you're looking for that shouldn't be a problem. The staff are friendly and really helpful. The best Boulder has to offer. read more

I find the employees of this Plato's closet to be inappropriate, unwelcoming and juvenile. As a longtime retail store manager, I love being able to offer local students jobs but teaching employees at every level the importance of greeting and addressing customers in a respectful manner is crucial to building a strong customer base. After the way I was addressed and spoken to I will not be returning to this store unfortunately. While I live closer to this location, I would prefer to drive the distance to Denver to the location on Colorado blvd where I find the employees are polished, professional and respectful to customers. read more

Went to sell my clothes that is POLO and True Religion and they said no cause it's been worn. it's obviously been worn before they're a thrift store. I washed and looked at it all before taking it in and the red head girl had the WORST customer service ever. she was rude and rushed everything. maybe you guys should train your employees to not be rude for absolutely no reason at all. I won't be going back there. It's not the first time with her either. read more

This place is not great, I'll come for the good boot selection once a year but honestly the manager is just really unfriendly to customers and has been this way for years. Doesn't seem like she cares about the customer or her employees. Kind of a bummer. read more

I have NEVER had a good experience in this store. The only thing that you can count on here is the employees' ambivalence and laziness. On my latest visit I asked an associate to turn the volume on the music down because I am AUTISTIC and the pop music blasting from the speakers was incredibly overwhelming, but as usual there was nothing the girls could do. Ableist and unfriendly environment, always disappointing customer service. read more

This place has quality clothing for a very good price. You would save a tons of money from shopping new clothes. They also has a sell back program if any of you guys want to sell your used clothes read more

Yeah not impressed here. I've sold to Plato's closets in Denver and the stuff I brought today was in amazing shape. A lot of it never worn. They said there was wear and tear but that's just crazy. Also, I'm sorry but when did stuff I bought last summer not become something they would sell? You're not a designer consignment shop from my point of view like no one goes to Plato's closet for super nice stuff. A least not that I know of. I thought the whole point was to actually keep older clothing in use. Someone would have loved what I brought in. Like the other reviews, the store is kinda gross and overwhelming. I saw so many items that were stained and really worn out. I would like to know how they choose what to buy. Not a fan. Stop trying to be crossroads, you're not. read more

I had a very similar experience to many of the other reviewers here. I went in to (attempt to) sell a large bag of clothes, all of which were in good shape and from brands they say they accept. Having sold to Plato's Closet before, I obviously was not expecting them to take everything. But I was shocked to find, after them taking 2 hours to go through this bag of clothes, that they only took ONE thing, for $2.10! Basically, unless your entire wardrobe consists of Free People, you're probably wasting your time trying to sell here. I did find a couple of cute things to buy here, though. read more

I came here a few weeks ago, and was completely floored by the way I was treated. I had my 6 month old daughter with me, so I was kind of in a hurry. I tried on a couple jeans, bought 2, and left. 3 hours later I receive a phone call from the manager of this location. I DO NOT KNOW HOW SHE GOT MY NAME AND NUMBER. I have never consigned here before. But, anyway, she calls me to let me know that they found a price tag from a pair of jeans I had tried on, and if I returned the jeans, I wouldn't be charged with theft. Excuse me? I demanded that she review her security footage, and informed her to call me the minute she found the jeans. She said she hadn't reviewed the footage yet, nor looked for the jeans, but would call me when she did. I couldn't believe she would accuse me of stealing before checking to see if the jeans were even there. She also informed me that she had never wrongly accused anyone of stealing, especially if they had an attitude like mine. I informed her that, if she had been wrongly accused of stealing, she'd be pissed as well, and hung up. Of course, an hour later she calls me to apologize and tells me she reviewed the security footage and did, indeed, see me put the jeans back. She offered me a 20% discount for the misunderstand. I told her that a 20% discount does not forgive the way I was treated, and I'd be sure that nobody I knew shopped here again. I'd give this place negative stars if I could, but unfortunately, one will have to do. read more

I am absolutely appalled by the way I was treated at Plato's closet today when I walked in to try to sell some of my clothes. I was severely discriminated upon based on my appearance I am A heavily tattooed person but I walked in there with a bunch of designer clothes and was prepared to sell them not only was I harassed by the employees but I was asked to leave because my tattoos were offending the guests.... They refuse to buy any of my clothes which were in perfect condition and pretty much all designer brand. So the only reason why is because of my appearance. It is 2018 and there is no excuse for The way I was treated so I recommend that if you're looking to sell your clothes go somewhere els. read more

So firstly, sorry Michelle and Jon for ghosting My job as the "Social Media Intern" at Plato's it was just kinda hard to work there when there are better jobs that pay you better, will give you a raise when deserved and don't treat you like garbage ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ so don't be bitter and passive-aggressive to MY ROOMMATE/CLOSE FRIEND and vent to them about how I wasn't there to pick up clothes I sold and how walked out on the job because I was at my current job that pays me $5 more an hour. Pretty immature if you ask me, but I'm also writing this scathing review about how badly they treat employees so (which I wouldn't be if SOMEONE wasn't rude to my friend). Maybe treat your employees better and if you can't give them basic benefits like health insurance, give them a raise (not just when Boulder county raises min wage, that doesn't count). Plato's made $1.5 million in profits last year yet they only pay their employees the Boulder minimum wage because they have to; they'd pay less if they could. Like maybe if you paid employees a decent wage they'd be more motivated to stay. They let customers treat employees terribly (some of you should be ashamed of yourselves for how you treat retail workers), you will never get a raise working there no matter how good of a job they say you're doing or how long you've been there, it's just a bad place to work. And don't even get me started on the constant text messages; literally every day off I had someone needed a shift covered and if you don't respond immediately the manager gets extremely rude and berates you for not texting back. Maybe people would be more motivated to come to their shifts if it wasn't such a bad work environment and got paid properly for the amount of work expected of them. Even when I quit as a buyer and agreed to continue running the Instagram posts to be nice I got no reciprocation of that kindness instead just constant texts asking if I could cover for someone when I quit that position. I edited/staged photos and was expected to design logos/skins for event posts and was getting extremely underpaid for work I am sure not many other employees could (or want) to do and didn't receive any flexibility. I was doing $15/hr work for $11.20/hr and you are bitter I left? Get over it; other people have left for less. They pay more for an entry-level job at Safeway for gods sake than what I was getting for what was basically a graphic design gig. read more

I didn't believe the reviews when people said DO NOT sell your clothes here. It's the absolute truth. Don't do it. I took in a big bag of clothes, waited 1.5 hours for them to look through it. They bought 1 thing! I got $2.45. Not going back. Sell your clothes at a different location. read more

The place is soooooo small and cluttered. It reeks like febreze or some type of air freshener to the point it made me choke when I went in there. The clothes are wayyyyyy overpriced. They sell their jeans $15+, you can go to ross or marshalls and get NEW ones for that price or cheaper. I have seen many pieces there that are ripped have holes and not it good condition. I saw some UGGs that had bleach stains all over them. They obviously buy it because its name brand but at least buy items that aren't damaged. Also most of their clothes are cropped everything cropped short crop tops etc. There are women that like to dress regular not like we are going to a braless rave. The employees are rude and you always have to wait until they finish their personal conversations before they acknowledge you. They took hours to look through our stuff and they told us that if we left we while they went through it we would be pushed to them bottom of the seller list. They offered us $5 for a burton snowboarding jacket that still had the tags on it. Not the place to buy or sell. read more

I was told it would be an hour wait for the 3 shopping bags of clothes I brought in. 3 hours later I came back and they were still "going through my stuff." I took my clothes that this store didn't take to a different location and made over $100 when this location only gave me $20. What a waste of my time. Don't waste your time going to this location. read more

I came into the store and after looking through the Jean almost immediately I found what I was looking for in my size.

I feel like this store just wastes your time when trying to sell your clothes!! I brought in 3 bags of name brand clothes and they only offered me $20!!! I understand this is supposed to be cheaper than buying new but they'll buy these items off me for $20-$40 just to go sell the items for 2x what I got for them... it's ridiculous and a waste of time don't sell your things at this location! Take the time to go to another location! read more

This is not the place to sell your clothes. I was shocked when I was told that none of my items made the cut due to "wear and tear" and they were "out of style by 1-2 years". Some of the clothing was high quality and purchased within a year (think J. Crew sweater, Lucky embroidered top, Free People dress). I only gave 2 stars because of their large selection of leather jackets; I scored 2 for $25. read more

If you have agoraphobia, do not shop here on the weekend! I went for a browse on a recent Sunday, and it was a miserable game of squeezing through people and narrow aisles to look through the tightly packed racks of clothes. It's nice that they carry some upmarket brands, and have everything organized by size and type, but the prices are indeed a bit high, especially for items like second-hand workout tights and yoga pants. Most are priced between $10-$18, which seemed like a gouge. The staff seemed nice and pleasant, but again, it was not the most relaxing shopping experience. read more

If your looking for a crappy shopping/selling experience this is the place for you. It's cluttered, smells like bleach, overpriced and full of bitchy sales ladies. Anyways here's my story. I go in with two boxes and one bag of high and Teen clothing they say the wait will be two a half hours, crazy... In my opinion if you're going to run a store either make it less cluttered and hire more people or out of certain point say sorry I can't take your stuff it's ridiculous to make your customers wait two an half hours. As I wait I hear that rude salesladys are talking trash about their customers and the clothing that I brought in to sell. Once they're done inspecting my clothing they write my name on the done list they don't call it out and it's not till 10 minutes later where I decide to look that I knew if I wasn't there I wouldn't know they were done also didn't text or call me like they said they would. I'm not complaining but they only took $14 worth of my stuff they couldn't like give me a initial look through and tell me that most of it is probably not going to work. I think that Plato's closet is better if you're looking for clothing been trying to sell I suggest a site called Poshmark for selling clothing the feedback on that site is much nicer and easier to use and you don't have to wait 2 1/2 hours. I would only go back to Plato's closet if I had to buy something never to sell it has been one of the worst experiences shopping I ever had. But shout out to Chanel she was a nice gal read more

Do NOT sell your clothes here, unless you bought that shit yesterday and want $2 dollars in exchange. They are VERY picky and will rip you off. I bought a $60 dollar bra, wore it maybe twice and they gave me $7 dollars for it. I had a friend who brought in an intact North Face jacket and got $10 back. As a broke college student, I would shop here but I can't stand their obnoxious advertisements on Pandora so I choose to just boycott the place entirely. (I promise I'm not usually this strongly opinionated about things like this. I just don't want anyone else have their hopes of making "cash on the spot" crushed like 98% of the people who have sold to platoscloset.) read more

I love Plato's Closet! I am a size 6 or a Medium and I always, always find great clothes here for good prices. Today, for example, I left with 6 dresses and spent around $30. That's a little cheaper than usual, as they have a ton of stuff on clearance at the moment. The store is packed with great clothes, and although the staff seems a little spacey at times, they are always kind and helpful. I go back pretty often, at least once a month. read more

I love this location of Platos closet. I have been to others but this one definitely has the best stuff if you're looking for good athletic wear, this location is your best bet. I'm only giving 1 star because it won't let me give zero!! Worst costumer service, prices are ridiculous!! Can't believe they're still in business! Ran by teens what do you expect!! If you take in a 100 dollar item you'll get $10 for it, they sell for 60 what a rip off! read more

Great service and really good selection on clothes! Super happy with my experience there.

This is a great place to shop, not sell your clothes. The girls who work here were sweet but they ripped through my items hardly looked at them then literally wadded them up & stuffed them back in the bags. Rude & inconsiderate!! You also don't have the option to donate your clothing they don't want so are stuck hauling it back to your car. If they don't want or need certain items something should be mentioned (hence when I called asking what clothing they're taking right now) instead of pretending like they take everything at all times and then making up some silly excuse why they can't take your stuff "it's not in style" bull crap....Will never ever sell anything here again. Don't waste your time. read more

Honestly, I love many Plato's closet's. But this location, had some of the rudest employees I have ever seen. When I first walked in, I was approached by a girl with dark hair, a beanie, and boots asking if my clothes were "in the trash bag" I was holding. Turning around, judging me, she said "oh... OK". I didn't think much of it, and then I brought another bag in, which was my younger sisters. I had done this multiple times before in other stores where they understood the situation I was in, trying to help my younger sister who was only 14 years old and couldn't make it down to Plato's closet herself. I called her on FaceTime, got her permission, and they still wouldn't let me give her clothes for her. She was literally 14!! How is she supposed to do it herself!! After, I decided to shop around The store for a little while after they checked my clothes and went up to the counter and asked when my clothes would be ready. They said it would take about three hours, which I really didn't mind so I left, headed 35 minutes back to my house, and as I got to my house they said everything was ready. I had to drive all the way back out there, at that time thinking I would have three hours to go home and do some work for myself. When I decided to go back out to boulder, I went about an hour after I got the message from them saying that my clothes were ready. When I got back, the lady first asked me "what took you so long? Your clothes have been ready for over an hour". I was completely astounded at the way I was treated at this location. I will not be going again. read more

Their methods of buying clothes don't make a lot of sense. They say the clothes need to be less than 1.5 years old, but I found that that really only applies if it's a popular brand they sell (forever21, h&m, abercrombie, etc). I brought in a bunch of clothes that I bought more than 2 years ago, but are in excellent condition, definitely still in style, and are very similar to things they sell, but they didn't buy any of it. What they did buy, was the stuff that either didn't have tags on it or were from brands they probably don't have in their system that were 7-10 years old. They bought my 10-year-old off-brand turtleneck sweater, but not my 2-year-old H&M super cute high-waisted skirt. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but that's how it worked out. read more
