The store is so clean and they had a good selection. The employees are friendly too! We will be returning.

They are having a 90% off sale which was so good that I came back the next morning to look through the racks again. I found a peacoat and Steve Madden boots for $2 each! Will be back again read more

Sooooo much better with the new owner! Can see a change in the clothing selection (for the better!) Glad that this spot is getting a facelift read more

Lots of great inventory and friendly staff . Love the CU buffs section. Lots of jeans

Service was OK, but just feel like there are a lot of judgmental and dismissive people there

I found a few cute items for a great deal. I also spoke with the new owner and she seems lovely

I overheard the employees say to each other "well the owners hate us so" seems like a pretty terrible place to work / business. Small store. Go to a different location. Would not recommend wasting your time here. read more

Generally the employees here are pretty cool and nice, and the atmosphere is fine, so the only reason I took off a star is because of the stores layout. It feels a little too cramped in here for my liking, like trying on shoes can be impossible when everywhere you go you'll be stepping in someone's way. So they should either cut down on the amount of merchandise a tad, or upgrade to a slighter larger location in boulder! read more

Plato's Closet - Boulder - Used, Vintage & Consignment Near Me - Boulder, Colorado

I have been a frequent customer at Platos for a couple of years now. When I came in a few days ago, I immediately noticed a change in the music that made my thrifting experience very fun! I had the opportunity to meet the new owner, who is so lovely. I cant wait to see the changes she makes. I also wanted to thank the employees there, who have always been welcoming and greeted me with a smile. read more

Probably the worst Plato's in the Denver area. They take forever to look at your clothes. One time after waiting two hours, I was told there was 3 people still in front of me and will still take another two hours. I don't know how when they take 3 mins to rummage through clothes and accept nothing. Came in here hoping they would have it together but was told they don't have a buyer until noon (they open at 11) the manager doesn't seem to be very nice or have control of her store. Also store has a lot of ripped clothing read more

My partner brought in a large bag of clothes around 2ish and was texted 30 minutes before they closed that the rest of our stuff was ready for pickup. I asked my partner if we could pick them up tomorrow since it was 8:30pm and we were in the middle of cooking dinner. He said he wasn't able to because he was told he had to pick the clothes up that night or they would donate all of them. I completely understand if we left the clothes there for an extended period of time and neglected them but giving us 30 minutes to drop everything to pickup clothes so they aren't given away is absurd. I understand this is the busy season for selling clothes but that is absolutely ridiculous policy. read more

Regardless of their website, they won't take most clothes you bring in. Looked on their website on what brands they look for and thought "this is exactly what I have!" Well I was pretty wrong. Even though the workers and customers were wearing the type of clothes I brought, they decided that it wasn't in their demographic. They turned down one thing that was literally identical to another one of my items. Out of all the stuff I had, all of it nearly brand new btw, they took three items and gave us $10. Not at all worth it, will not be using them again read more

I have tried 4 times to drop things off to buy but each time they are 3-4 hours out which I have no issue with if I can come back the next morning. However, that is not an option. I was told to call first to check timing and I did so I could avoid having to come back 3-4 hours later and was told an hour max; when I got there immediately after calling it was once again a 3-4 hour wait and was told we cannot leave our stuff overnight. I was told "it's just us....." Why on earth are there not enough staff? The explanation is always that there are not enough people working there. Beyond frustrating. Guess I just go back to Poshmark and Mercari at this point. Terrible customer service. read more

They have a pretty good selection of clothes but super overpriced. I found a few new things with tags attached that are more expensive at Plato's. The people who work there are a little rude. The manager kept asking me if I let myself in the dressing room I kept telling her I told a worker to let me in and she basically scolded me saying "I don't know if you weren't aware but we don't allow bags inside the dressing room anymore". Well I was not because nobody told me and also I don't feel comfortable leaving my personal purse outside... Found some cute things but after that rude interaction I didn't even want to shop I just ended up leaving. read more

Like so many reviews here, I'd like to give zero stars. So unprofessional. I brought a small bag in. I know it's a gamble...depends on the mood of the girls behind the counter. There were 1/2 dozen bags in front of mine. I was told 1 hour 15. 90 minutes later I check. In a whiney Kim Kardashian voice..."another hourish?" "Maybe less?" Uhg. More than 2 hours later I get a text. Didn't take anything. But that's not my beef. It's how stupid the girls are. Zero communication skills. No value for anyone's time. Edit: I get home and find someone else's rejects in my bag. They're not bad. But what about the person whose rejects I have? Plato's closet is so unprofessional. They stay alive because of the entitled, over-financed by Daddy college girls in Boulder. read more

I love Plato's closet.. but this one is terrible. Sadly the owner hired a bunch of mean girls. Even when shopping I over heard 2 girls speaking ill about one of the ladies shopping. When checking out they were rude and probably shouldn't be working retail. Definitely won't be coming back I will drive 30 minutes to a better run Plato's read more

This is the worst Plato's closet in all of Colorado. The girls who work here don't give a flying fuck about their jobs or have any regards for the people entering the store. If you hate your job so much, don't work there. Go get your $15 an hour somewhere else. They should start hiring 25+ for this store or shut it down. Even a self check out counter would be more efficient and satisfactory than the girls who work here. Oh and they pick shitty clothes, there no standard for quality and they pick they're in the mood for that day. read more

Would NOT recommend. The clothes are fine but the staff is cold, rude, stuck up and clearly hate working there. No concept of personal space or just a lack of caring about anyone but themselves and what they're doing. Coming from working in retail myself, I understand it can be awful but wow they did not try to hide it. Felt like all the popular high school mean girls all decided to apply to work here. Will not be returning, what a negative experience. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. They have decent clothes....way over priced. I have never written a review but this was needed. The manager is horrible and extremely rude. She kept arguing with customers about their purses. She said it was their policy that purses were not allowed in the dressing room. This is absolutely ridiculous and what a liability. She said they were safe since there were cameras. Well tell me this what if someone takes the purse and runs. All business have a no pursuit policy so the customer would be SOL. Please rethink this policy and PLEASE replace the rude manager. She is even rude to the help. read more

I've shopped and sold here a few times. Each time was not worth it! Their selection is a chaotic assortment of trends. The clothes are not in the best condition (stains, holes, well worn, or just cheap fast fashion quality). During my last visit I brought one bag of neatly organized, folded, and freshly cleaned items. Out of all the items they took 2 athletic pieces and stuffed the rest of my items unfolded back in my bag. I've never had a resale shop do that before. Super rude and extra folding work for me. Staff have generally been unfriendly and unpleasant to deal with. I've been to other Plato Closet locations and never had any issues. I'm not sure what's up with this store but I'll be taking my business to the other second hand and vintage shops in Boulder. read more

love shopping here but I took in a couple bags of clothes to sell and they told me it was going to be 4 hours which is fine cause I could tell they were busy. I went back in 5 hours to check in and they said mine was next. I sat in the parking lot for 2 more hours without a text. hire some new people Plato's read more

Do NOT waste your day bringing clothes in that are not laundered within 2 days of dropping off. It does not state this rule anywhere on their website. They drop this policy on you as you come to the counter with all of your clothing. I wasted a drive and a long line out front to bring in four bags of clean and folded clothing. I even spent the extra time to organize all of the items by type (jeans, tops, dresses, etc.) The young person working asked me when the clothing had last been washed. I honestly said within the last month or two, I had been waiting for a time to come bring them in. She said due to Covid, their policy is that they HAVE to be washed within the last two days. There is nothing on their website to let their customers know this erroneous policy. There was another woman who brought in some items next to me. The other salesperson did not ask her when she had washed her items. She took her bags and started going through them. Hmmm. I started actually wondering if this "policy" actually existed? I am all about safety and cleanliness. I am a mom of two daughters. As if I would bring Covid covered clothing into a consignment store that sells to young people. That is beside the point. I am all about communication. If you have a policy, then clearly state it on your social media account and website so you don't waste anyone's time. And, don't throw this policy at customers unless you are training your staff to follow it with everyone that comes in! read more

I once found period stained shorts in the store here. It was absolutely disgusting. Many clothes in the store had stains pilling and rips. Not good quality at all. The last time I went there the cashier who checked me out was very rude. Everytime I bring in my clean, on trend clothes, they barely take anything. Super frustrating. Don't waste your time trying to sell anything here. (unless they're stained with period blood then they'll take it) read more

Don't try to sell here.... I dropped off two big boxes of clothes in perfectly good condition without stains and out of that they offered me $2.80 for one dress... I often thrift my clothes and then cycle them out by reselling them at consignment stores like Buffalo Exchange and I normally make between $75 and 150 per drop off because of the clothes that I bring. This place is so picky I do not recommend trying to sell your clothes here I just completely wasted my time and energy bringing them clothes to sort through. Drove all the way from Longmont to Boulder to drop this stuff off and ended up spending more money on gas than making money on clothes. Sell your clothes somewhere else read more

I've only been in this store once, so I'm giving two stars instead of one. But there is barely any option at all for mid sized-plus sized women. There were maybe 2 pairs of jeans in a 14+. Mostly all cheap fast fashion brands overpriced for being worn. Staff seemed standoffish and judgy. They were rude to other customers who were trying to sell. Tried on a few things and left empty handed. read more

The manager of the store stalks you while you are shopping through the 300 cameras they have. When i went she berated my friend for 10 min with insults because hw pilled his mask down for a split second. The manager is a bitch. read more

This review is solely based on the workers. I came in on 2 separate occasions and the same lady was extremely rude and unhelpful.

This is the slimiest, rudest of all thrift stores. That's saying a lot!!! Brought in 4 bags over 50lbs of really really nice clothes and shoes...NOTHING ACCEPTED! Never showing them business again. read more

Wow! The reviews are spot on for this place. How is it possible for a business that needs customers to act so rude and pretty much ask you to leave? Do not waste your time here--there are other places to shop where you will not be treated rudely! Hard to believe. read more

Walked in and noticed the large pump bottle of hand sanitizer they were asking customers to use was one very publicly recalled by Sam's club - Blumen hand sanitizer. We quietly brought this to the attention of the girl at the counter; she did nothing, said nothing and completely ignored us except to loudly and rudely bark at us about our masks...which were on our faces as required. If they are going to be that rude to customers about masks, they should really manage the number of young people crammed inside the tiny store. Would also behoove them to have some type of minimal dress code standards for employees. Not impressed by anything here, especially the staff and we won't be back. read more

I wish the employees were friendlier! I love other locations, Boulder location the employees are rude and seem unhappy. I hope the staff improves! read more

I've been to this location a few times and employees are consistently rude and unhelpful. I brought clothes in to sell, was quoted 2-3 hours. I got a text 5 hours later that items were ready, when I went to pick them up an employee told me that the clothes weren't ready and wouldn't be for another hour and a half. I explained that I didn't have another hour and a half to wait and she said she couldn't do anything about that. 0/10 do not go here. read more

This place is ridiculous with their rules!! As a personal assistant to wealthy individuals, one of my jobs is to take clothes to consignment shops. We're talking high end designer clothes. I decided to try Platos out of convenience, and for a change. I went in and was told it all had to be washed within 24 hours of bringing it in. So after that was done, and many items were very nice sweaters so I took those to a thrift shop. Not worth the dry cleaning bill when they were already clean. But, okay, COVID-19 causes things to change and we must adapt. Went back in and was told, only my employer could sell them. I, as a personal assistant, who has been doing this everywhere for years, could not drop my bosses Gucci and other fantastic designer clothes here, at this little place in Boulder. Kinda laughable. If they only knew what they were missing out on. I will not set foot in there again. They wasted my time. You are a consignment shop, get over yourselves. Adding yet another bad review. read more

I have purchased and sold clothes here for the past four years. Never have I been more insulted. Staff is presumptuous and extremely rude. It is actually an embarrassment for the Platos brand! I will certainly tell my teenage daughter and her friends to go elsewhere! Never Again!! read more

Not worth the time to try and sell. Clean and new clothes didn't fit the bill, while somehow an old shirt with a stretched neck and stains made the cut? A waste of time for all except perhaps bored college kids. Support Goodwill instead. read more

I wish I could give this store 0 stars. The staff are extremely rude and do not even speak when customers walk in. The owner and managers should be ashamed of running a store like this. read more

Really good selections. Especially when they're having events because they'll put new stuff on the floor. I found a brand new pair of Fabletics leggings for $10 which totally made my day. Have also sold to them as well. read more

Man, I wish I had known about this place when I was a teenager (or that it had even existed). My parents were into thrift stores and discount stores; there was no way they were going to Gap or A&F and buying me the 'in' clothes of the time. (I myself was into frantically hoarding my allowance and part-time job income, so I could relate.) So this kind of consignment store, specializing in teen-centric brand-name clothing, probably would have saved me from being a hopelessly unfashionable nerd who wore grandma pants that hit me high waist and mid-ankle, paired with plain bright T-shirts. I could have tricked my parents into going by saying it was a thrift store, and voila! 'Popular-person' clothes for a quarter of the price! Plato's Closet is actually a great idea, I think, given the warp-speed and cyclicalness (cyclicality? cyclic nature?) of teen fashion. Buy what's 'in', consign it when it's out, and when it comes back 'in', you (or someone who has less money than you) can buy it back. Sadly, I am too old for most of the stuff in this store (an ancient 25), but in the short time I whizzed around here between errands, I saw that I could definitely get some cheap shoes or cute skirts in here. But forget the labia-skimming short shorts that are - creepily - in style at the moment and the sheer halters with no space for a bra. Forget the ultra-low-rise flares with flowers on the butt. No thank you. read more

If you are looking to sell your gently used clothes, I'd recommend going elsewhere. The customer service was extremely friendly but the items they chose of mine were literally some last minute add-ins to my bag. Stuff I received as gifts, old scratched cell phone cover, cheap necklaces from Mexico...yes, I'm happy I made a quick $10 but they skipped quality items. I personally would never shop here and their choice of items from my bag only confirms that. I'd recommend selling your clothes at My Best Friend's Closet in Westminster. Took my same bag that Plato's picked through and made $44. Much more reasonable! read more

I have been to this Plato's Closet location twice in my life, once to sell some clothes and today to buy a tank top to match with lace pants (going to Vegas this weekend and needed a new top!). Anyways, here are my opinions: -Buying clothes: WOW. I came in just to buy a tank top and was pleasantly surprised to a full rack of Free People clothing right when I walked in. That was the only rack I looked at (in a rush on lunch break). I ended up trying on about 6 things and walked out with 3-- an almost new lace FP dress, a lace sweater, and a tank top to wear in Vegas-- all for under $50! For a resale shop, people may think $50/3 items is a steep price, but the regular price for FP stuff is 3-5 times what the items are sold for here. That's a GO. They also had many shoes that looked nice, but I didn't have time to continue throughout the store. -Selling clothes: They are definitely picky. After going in today and realizing how much FP stuff they have, it's obvious that (since this location is in Boulder), they are only going to take the cream of the crop stuff. When I brought my stuff in here, I had 2 pairs of True Religion jeans (worn only once or twice) that they didn't even take. I was mad that day, but after my return visit to shop today, it is clear that many people take their clothes here and not in style/trendy stuff will not be chosen (hint- think of all the college students in Boulder, how much $ is in Boulder, and what those college kids wear)... read more
