First of all, it was open (hours are til 7 pm), open to the public (prior "appointment only" claims were for when they did individual aquarium services only), and had a great selection of freshwater fish and plants. Ashley went above and beyond - she was super patient with us beginners in the field (and our two very excited and vocal children), gave us great advice (advising us to buy a couple of things down the road vs now), offered to order our preferred fish types, and even told us about another store that had some specific hard scape we'd been looking for. The store is packed with an incredible variety of marine creatures and species, more than we expected. It's clear they really know their stuff and care about the health and quality of their animals. We ended up purchasing a snail for our tank, but what really made the visit memorable was the young lady who helped us. She was so knowledgeable and patient, answering all of our kids' (many!) questions. She even let them touch a starfish, such a magical experience for them! This visit turned into one of those unexpectedly wonderful family moments, and we're already excited to return and pick out our next pet. While I don't blame Aquaholics for this, I blame the young man who sold it to us for not educating us about the possibilities because there is no way we would have taken a chance with our boy's life. But like I said, it was a 1 off incident and James, the owner of Aquaholics reached out personally to offer his condolences and help. He treated me like a grieving friend and I appreciate that from him. He has a wonderful shop and is a kind man.

This week I snagged some guara, hummingbird bush, and a gorgeous pink trumpet vine that's actually not toxic to pets (as most trumpet vines are). The staff all seem very knowledgeable and are really helpful. There are two older gentlemen that walk around and are always especially kind and helpful. There are some chickens clucking about and if you go in the indoor plant area you can meet parrots Jack and Diane who are happy to have a chat with you. There's also a huge selection of pottery.
