    DjonDjon Burrito
    Kiara N.

I was coworking in the area and ready for a bite to eat when I stumbled upon Plant Based Zo. Craving something semi-healthy, I checked out their menu online before heading over and decided on the Djondjon Burrito. Admittedly, the $19 price tag gave me pause, but I figured it might be worth it if it delivered on both flavor and fullness. I debated adding fries but ultimately passed, noticing the burrito came with chips and homemade queso--a nice touch, I thought. When I arrived, it took a moment for someone to greet me as most of the staff seemed busy in the kitchen, visible just behind the cash register. Once I was helped, everything moved along smoothly. Before leaving, I checked my order and was a bit disappointed to see that the portion of chips was smaller than expected--especially considering the price. Ready to dig in, I got in my car and took my first bite. The homemade queso was creamy and flavorful, pairing nicely with the burrito. The burrito itself was delicious, packed with great taste and texture. That said, I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay $19 for it again--it didn't quite feel like a splurge-worthy experience for the price. Overall, I'd still be open to trying something else on the menu next time. The flavors were great, and the concept is promising--I'm just hoping for a better value to match the quality.

Great play on the Taco Bell's Crunchwrap supreme! Such a great healthy alternative to satisfy a fast food craving! I honestly could not tell the difference. The crunch-wrap was very flavorful. I didn't know what to expect but I must say I was satisfied to say the least! Will definitely try the other items on the menu!

I ordered via Uber Eats take out today, and it was great. They have a similar set up like Soul Box in the West End, but you will not find tradition meat on the menu. The food is so good. My order was ready on-time. Parking is ample in a private lot and the process of getting your order via pick-up was so easy. I felt the heft of the food in the bag immediately when I pick it up to deliver up out of it the deliciousness of everything inside. It felt like a heavy plate from the cookout or from Grandma's house after Sunday dinner. This is true food for the soul. I loved the sweet potatoes. I loved the mac and cheese. I loved, loved, LOVED the vegan chicken-like protein. I felt in love with it and the hot sauce that came with it. I was not a fan, in particular, of the collard greens--not because they lacked meat seasoning. They were a little too spicy for my liking. Otherwise, this is good food. It is Black-owned and-operated to my knowledge. Support, eat vegan, and be ye healthy.

Oxtail Pasta. Does not mimic oxtail stew flavor. But as a dish, pretty decent taste.

Tassili's makes my favorite wraps of all time. I am not vegan but I absolutely love eating here…read more Their wraps are massive, delicious, and make me feel like I'm eating healthy too. I got the South of the Border wrap. The full size is enough for two people. It is stuffed with kale (I get the spicy one and it has a nice kick to it), avocado, black bean hummus, and couscous. I highly recommend! I usually order ahead of time and come to pick it up because service is slow. Online, it will say your order is ready in 10-15 minutes, but that is not true. Wait at least 30-45 minutes to pick it up. I have been here many times, and the people that work here are absolutely incredible, but they are slammed with a lot of orders so it takes a while to get prepared.

There were about four customers in line when I arrived but it moved as slow as molasses. I recommend ordering online if you don't have extra time to wait. Also know what you want when you arrive, it helps move the line a little quicker. This is a raw vegan restaurant that is known for their kale mix. You have your choice of wraps, spicy kale, mild kale or you can do a 50/50 blend. The spicy has heat which i love but I'm glad I did the 50/50, it was perfect. There is a free parking lot a few steps away from the business and it's large so you shouldn't have a problem finding parking. I had the south of the border with a chili wrap and all ingredients. I had the half size which was extremely large and enough for two people to share or enough for two days. It's such a beautiful wrap but personally not my favorite. All the ingredients were very fresh but it was something that I just didn't enjoy about it. Maybe it was the Moroccan couscous flavor. I'm willing to try another wrap and will probably go with the OG or Dat Ish. Prices were okay for the serving size you receive. There are tables outside. And the employees were all pleasant.

We got: - Chicken Satay: The chicken itself was so believable, stringy and smoky! And crunchy (though I'm used to satay meat being grilled). The sauce was tasty too- peanut-y, sweet, hint of curry. However, for $8, I'd expect at least 4 skewers. - Shrimp Chow Kway Teow: CKT is one of my favorite noodle dishes ever, and Mamak's version certainly did it justice. The wok hei was so present, the noodles perfectly chewy, and the veggies (snow pea, onion, carrot, bean sprouts) well-cooked. The shrimp was insane, so bouncy and real-feeling. - Olive Fried Rice: Can't say I've ever had olive leaves before, this dish was delightful! Lots of great toppings (tofu, carrot, green bean, mushroom) that gave some textural diversity. - Black Pepper Beef: The black pepper essence was clearly distinguishable, but the sauce was too sweet for me. The beef was truly reminiscent of the actual thing. Lots of tasty veggies again (cauliflower, celery, jicama, carrot, bell pepper). Overall, taste-wise, all of the dishes were great; however, we did not feel portion sizes matched prices. Service could also stand to improve, with regards to attentiveness. To note, the restaurant is self-seating (I wish there was something that said this at the entrance). You can pay the bill via QR code, but there's a platform fee (I wonder if you could avoid that if you pay physically). Lots of parking available. 9/10 would recommend!
