I would definitely order this again. And it was more than enough for two people. The taste was very good.
T Definitely a 4.5 for vegam comfort food. The best sauce on vings I've tasted on vegan food. I'm originally from Memphis and we all know the honey gold vings are King. I believe the same here is called royal gold. It was delicious. I also had cauliflower vings that had a hot sauce that brought the heat, mac and cheese and BBQ jackfruit sandwich. They were having a pick 4 special when ai went and got to taste a lot. The service was friendly and I received my food pretty quick. It was freshly cooked and so very good. My experience was a very good one and I can't wait to visit family again and return to this gem. [[HIGHLIGHT]]You can eat inside or take it with you.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is parking on the side of the eatery which is housed next to a wing spot and other shops. I had no problem with parking. Great little spot to check out.
The food here is so delicious. I have gone several times and have not been disappointed. The first time I went, I had the honey hot cauliflower wings with lemon pepper sprinkled on them and they were so. They give you a great amount. I could not eat them all in one sitting. The homemade vegan ranch dressing was also delicious. The second time I went I had the vegan hot wings. I not exactly sure what they are made out of, but they were good and have the consistent of meat. I had the vegan blue cheese dressing with them and I was not disappointed. Oh and since they were on the counter, lol, I went ahead and got a vegan doughnut. Literally one of the best doughnuts that I've had. I can't wait to go back and try more menu items! If you are vegan and looking for something fun and healthy to eat, this is the place to go!
This place is so good! It's hard to find gluten free on my travels but we found this place and tried it out. Delicious! I got the burger with gluten free bun. Yummy!!! Definitely check them out
This has been on my list for a long time, but never worked into a stop during cross country adventures until now. While it's definitely not going to check any boxes off on the whole food plant based lifestyle unless you consider French fries to be a vegetable, it's awesome to have plant based options like this, too, once in awhile and I can't wait to go back. We got the vegan chicken wings, aka Vings. They are formed in house out of soy protein in the shape of a wing/drumstick. None of that weird "wooden stick in a vegan wing" thing here. These tasted and looked authentic. Just be warned there is turmeric or something in the sauce so your fingers might temporarily be yellow, which is ok with me. It comes with your choice of sauces. We couldn't decide on one, so we paid extra to get two sauces and that was a wise choice. Also got the fried oyster mushroom and fries. They have gluten free flour, so gluten free vegans like me can enjoy all their fried deliciousness here. These were very good. We happened to come on the owners birthday and his staff had gotten him an amazing package of gifts that he opened while we were there and did a video of the opening to post on social media. You could tell he has a special relationship with his staff and that comes through in the care for the food.
Grabbed lunch here yesterday since Yelp was hosting an event for Yelpies/Elite Squad. First time I have been to this cool place. Service was awesome. All three young ladies that were working there were very helpful and we're cooking all the different foods that are offered. I wasn't sure what to order so I asked for a recommendation. The nice young lady suggested I order the classic burger with french fries. It was a beyond meat patty and the burger was fully dressed with vegan cheese, onions, tomato, pickles, and mustard. I normally don't have all of that but I wanted to try everything on the burger. The burger was very flavorful, and the texture was pretty good. The bun was cooked very well, and the french fries or seasoned and crispy. I did not eat all the fries. I did save them for later. The restaurant is kind of small and quaint. There are tables inside. There is plenty of parking in the back as the location is located inside of a strip mall on Highland Street. The entrance to the restaurant is on Highland. So you will need to walk to the front to enter. I will return because there are many other items on the menu I would like to try. This restaurant has vegan food only. Everything on the menu sounds very delicious. I will return with friends.
I don't think I will ever eat a beef patty again ! I had my first vegan burger from Plant Based Heat and it's giving 10/10. Run don't walk !! Plant Based Heat is a black owned vegan restaurant in Memphis, located in East Memphis! The staff was knowledgeable about the menu when asked about it and was willing to offer their favorites off the menu! They suggested the Oyster Mushroom Burger and I added seasoned fries!It did not disappoint. The food was made to order and came out steaming hot. The burger was dripping in flavor ! The fries were cooked to a crisp perfection and seasoned well. My over all taste buds were amplified. It's was a one of a kind experience and I'm now I'm a believer that vegan food can be tasty food! I will be going back to taste other menu items such as the fried cauliflower and the vegan wings.
I'm not plant based, but my friend wanted to try it out, so we popped in. Friendly staff, clean environment, and great food. I opted for mushrooms with an Agave gold sauce, and it was AMAZING! I was very pleased with the various options that fit my palate and appetite I'll definitely try them again.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant for a Yelp event. The staff was nice and professional, the set-up is trendy. The food is absolutely delicious, yes its plant based, but it is amazing. I hadn't eaten vegan nor plant based food before and it tastes amazing. I'll bring visiting in the future to try different menu items.
10/10 my fiancé who's not vegan and is very picky even loved ALL the food! Very friendly staff and owner :) if you're a vegan or looking into trying plant based alternatives, this place is a must!

Plant-Based Heat absolutely lives up to the name. My wife and I stopped in and shared the BBQ jackfruit nachos, and they were incredible. The nacho cheese was spot-on: not too gooey, just the perfect consistency. The BBQ jackfruit was to-die-for and was loaded with an amazing smoky flavor. I ordered the chopped classic burger cheesesteak, and it was everything you want it to be: meaty, cheesy, and packed with great flavor. My wife went with the Fye Junt (Vegan Hot Burger), which nailed the balance of smoky, spicy, and cheesy. It's easily one of the best vegan burgers we've had, and she immediately said she wants to come back for it again. The service was quick, and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We'll definitely be returning -- Plant-Based Heat is doing something really special. read more

First of all, I'm not a vegan. But I'm here to tell you: "Save a cow" and eat at this plant-based restaurant! Their food is absolutely delicious, and I honestly don't miss the meat. The service is always friendly and great, even when they're busy. read more
The food was very good. The Katfish was a bit on the salty side. The Katfish sandwich was balanced and good. The nachos were delicious. I will recreate those at home. We stopped here right before closing time after a long day of traveling. What a great spot. They made everything fresh. Service was great and the food was delicious. The standout for me was the cauliflower vings with the agave gold sauce. Would highly recommend them. read more

Plant Based Heat is a fraud! Fraud I tell you! There's no way this food is vegan. There's no way those were mushrooms I ate. No seriously, absolutely delicious. Im going to make this location a regular for meatless Monday's. Can't wait to try each and every item on the menu! The staff is so kind and the wait is a bit long, but super worth it for food made with love. Do yourself a favor. Vegan or not, give this place a try. Update: yes, I'm back twice in the same week. Fabulous, low key, dive spot dining experience!! I went out of my normal work lunch criteria to have some vegan comfort food and man I am glad I did. Extremely friendly staff! Thanks, Paige! Was on a cross country trip from AZ to IN and was searching for vegan food on our route and Plant Based Heat popped up! We weren't originally planning to stay in Memphis but it was well worth it for the food! I miss wings, and the wings here DELIVERED!!!! We got the spiciest sauce and it was full of heat and flavor. We also got the buffalo mushroom sandwich and that was amazing and flavorful. The last thing was the mac and cheese, which again, amazing and flavorful and so herby. The service was also spectacular and the ladies running it were so sweet and helpful when I asked for more vegan suggestions (my boyfriend even asked for a meat rec and they tried helping.) I had to check out Plant Based Heat while in Memphis! It was recommended by a family member. She was excited to let me know there are plant bases options popping up in the Memphis area. The young lady at the register was patient and very nice! She made me feel welcomed. I ordered a number of items from the menu. Street Corn, All the Smoke, Italian Smoke Sausage, Seasoned Fries, Buffalo Cauliflower and Lemon Pepper Cauliflower. The wait time for food was not bad. I made sure I tasted everything. Everything was good but the stand outs for me was the Lemon Pepper Cauliflower and Italian Smoke Sausage. The Lemon Pepper Cauliflower was great! The Italian Smoke Sausage reminded me of an old school backyard barbecue. It is good to know that Memphis now has alternative food options for vegetarians/vegans. read more

I was looking for a great vegetarian resteraunt. Plant based heat the atmosphere was great. Very clean welcoming enviornment. The service was excellent they took my order with accuracy read it back to me. My name was called it was served hot and ready, made to order. I was able to see my food before taking it with me. It not only looked good it tasted oh so good. Real comfort food done right. I cant wait to tell others and go back. I chose to order the BBQ burger, the Italian sausage, oyster mushrooms, fried cauliflower..all of it was so good. read more

Driving across country we wanted to get some Memphis BBQ. This place is amazing!!! The BBQ jackfruit sandwiches were the best we've ever had! The spicy vings were fantastic!! Perfect amount of heat with a great flavor. I could have eaten the entire pot of the BBQ beans!! The seasoned fries were perfect! Even though the wait time might be a little long (based on previous reviews, it is ABSOLUTELY WORTH THE WAIT!!!! We will definitely be back the next time we're in Memphis! read more

My husband got the oyster mushrooms and was in heaven. I tried one and loved the breading and sauces, but the mushroom was a little too "meaty" for my liking. But if you are cool with that texture, then you should definitely get them! The sweet potato tots were an amazing side! I got the mushroom Philly cheesesteak sub and was sooo happy! It was super fresh and flavorful but messy so be sure to grab some extra napkins! read more

It's no secret that Plant Based Heat is dominating the vegan scene in Memphis! The owner RJ is the friendliest, most welcoming man ever, and he is always present and putting in the work daily! The store get hundreds of customers a day, and somehow RJ remembers everyone by name and what they've been up to lately. I cannot get over how genuine that is! And yes, the food is IMMACULATE! PBH is definitely the best restaurant for vegan comfort food in Memphis. People rave over the oyster mushrooms and the fye junt burger. I've tried both, and they are worth the hype!! The buffalo oyster mushrooms are perfectly spicy and savory! The fye junt is the perfect vegan burger! It's not your boring cheeseburger by any means! My personal favorite is the PBH chicken sandwich in the spicy hot flavor. It's everything I missed about CFA chicken! The restaurant also uses vegan Hawaiian buns which are soft and sweet! The sausages are perfect! The mexican street corn is TO DIE FOR! The baked beans are 10/10! The vings are also a popular menu item (most people talk about the agave gold flavor in particular), but I'm honestly not a fan of the soy protein as a "wing". Overall, you should 100% give Plant Based Heat a try! I will say that sometimes the wait times can be about 45+ minutes, so patience is key! However, the service is unmatched, and the food is well worth the wait! It's always a good day to go support small black business! read more

Planning a cross country drive with a stop in Memphis this week? I noticed there's a GF bun on the menu, does that mean there's some options that are GF if you substitute just the bun? (And, sorry anything BUT the burger, I can't eat Beyond Meat).
