I was referred by several Sewist and quilt shops to Plano Sewing Center for machine repairs. I called ahead to make sure I could just bring my sewing machine in for repair without an appointment, confirmed I could so I made the 50min drive on a Tuesday mid morning. Walked in, went to the repair area and no one would speak to me or acknowledge me. Looked around, tried to get someone's attention and nothing. I had an amazing experience here when servicing my sewing machine! The employee that helped me was extremely kind, knowledgeable and informative. He also offered to help me carry out my machine, and since I had both of my kids with me it meant a lot to me. Additionally, when I called the shop ahead of time someone picked up the phone almost immediately and I didn't have to jump through hoops with an operator. I had gotten my BabyLock Aria back from another sewing repair shop, I was told first it was probably a sensor problem, Ordered the sensor but still frozen screen, I was then told my mother board would need to be replaced. After that, I looked online - Thankful to find Plano Sewing Center! After speaking with the owner over the phone, got my machine back. Next day, we drove up to Plano, discovered the plastic needle plate had a small piece missing, thus not connecting with the sensor. Whew, what a relief - I highly recommend this place for honesty, fairness and making my day! As I said earlier it was over an hour's drive for us but worth it. Moved to Plano right before the pandemic, of course started sewing while stuck at home. :) My 1960s-era Singer machine had the needle quit moving into position (L-R-Center) with the lever, and I needed to find a reliable repair place locally as I didn't want to travel over an hour back to the guy my Mother had used for years. The Plano Sewing Center came highly recommended, and they're right down the road from me, so I stopped in. I can't say enough good things about them. Everyone there was super friendly and knows their stuff. Every technician I have spoken with there seems to be very knowledgeable about my machine, and appreciative of the older all-metal model and its durability. They explained their evaluation/repair process very well. My machine was ready before the general estimated time, and the repair costs (which included a full cleaning/service) were very reasonable. The lovely people there also stock the metal bobbins I've been unable to locate elsewhere and also set me up with fresh needles since my Mom couldn't remember when she purchased needles last before handing the machine off to me. (LOL) They will definitely be my go-to for regular maintenance and repair as well as supplies for as long as I live in Plano, and I highly recommend them for anyone needing sewing machine service or supplies. read more

After giving my Janome sewing machine a quick cleaning, it doesn't work anymore It is not catching the bottom thread. Took it to the Plano Sewing Center and was greeted by a nice lady. Seeing me carrying the machine, she asked to put it down on the table and wait . The nice gentleman came out in no time and inspects the unit. He immediately said I have the wrong bobbin and the part under the plate was also in the wrong position. He corrected it and gave me a right bobbin. Works like a charm within 5 minutes. And NO charge when I asked to pay. He said it's free if he can remedy the problem in less than 10 minutes Talk about great service and UTTER HONESTY . He could have kept it for a day and charge me $50-100 . Thank you !!! read more

I took my Singer Confidence Quilter into Plano Sewing Center to get it fixed. My needle and bobbin were out of time and I couldn't fix it myself. They gave me a call and explained that they could fix it, but it would probably break again with the type of work I was doing on that machine (heavier twills, denim, upholstery fabric). Darrell was extremely helpful in offering a different machine (1950s singer) that would hold up to the work I was doing. It was fairly inexpensive for how great it works! All the great reviews of this place mean nothing after what happened to our machine. My mother had taken her 50 year old Singer sewing machine to Plano Sewing Center a few weeks ago. They repair even old machines and actually repaired hers back in 2008. She got a call Friday saying it could not be repaired, the parts hers needed were not available, and that now it was even making a "funny noise", which it did not do before. The repairman said not to worry she would not be charged. She decided to call him back and tell him that she would come by the next day and pick it up even if it was broken. Maybe someone else could repair it. I do not think they expected that to happen. I drove there with her Saturday to pick up the machine. We were horrified when the person in charge, I believe the owner, brought out a machine that in no way resembled her machine. He kept insisting it was her machine and even I knew the minute he came out with it that it wasn't! We kept insisting it wasn't hers and that they must have mixed hers up with someone else's far less pristine machine. He insisted this did not happen. All I can assume is that they just came up with this total piece of crap that was obviously slapped together in case she showed up. They must have thought she was half blind or too old to notice! Even the outside case was covered in crayon and felt tip markings, as if a child had drawn on it. The machine was very dirty with chipped and scratched enamel everywhere, it was unrecognizable as the machine we took in. The ONLY thing that matched the paperwork was the serial number on the base of the machine. He kept pointing to that as if that meant it had to be her machine. Well only they know how THAT can be explained and we have a pretty good idea. We gave him multiple chances to come up with an explanation. We had no photograph to prove what her machine looked like when it was brought in, so all we could do is leave. I will not however stay quiet about it, because if it happened to us it could easily happen to someone else. Shame on you whoever was involved in this deception at PLANO SEWING CENTER! read more

Upon entering, several individuals greeted me (& with a smile). -uncommon!- My quasi-ignorant but mostly misinformed questions were met with humor and the wisdom of experience. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the "young lady" who was helping me; she was quite patient with my questions and even took the time to show me how to use a few of the machines. I'd left feeling confident that if I chose to take any classes or purchase a machine that i'd be in good hands. ( I believe there is also on-site machine repair/servicing as well.) I went in a couple days ago to get parts to repair a Singer machine that may be as old as I am. I was in the middle of making a dress for the office holiday party and didn't relish the idea of doing the hem by hand. Everyone was so friendly and greeted me with big smiles. The man who repairs machines (think his name might be Darrell based on all of the kind notes from other customers surrounding the doorway to his "shop") provided me with parts that he thought would work. Since I didn't have my machine with me he wasn't 100% certain, but told me that if those parts weren't the right ones to bring the machine in and he would find what I needed. Well, they weren't the right ones, but I didn't have time to go back right away, so I finished the hem by cranking the machine by hand. I went back this morning with the parts and the machine and he found parts that would work. Apparently, my machine is impossible to get parts for, but he had just the pulley I needed on an old motor in his sewing machine "bone yard." Not only did he find parts to fix my machine but he installed them free of charge and got my machine working again in about 10 minutes. You just cant beat the combination of friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Thanks!! read more

Truly as great as everyone else says it is. All the staff is extremely helpful and sincere. I took my machine in for what I thought would be a tuneup and turned out to be a faulty needle. The repairman sat down with me to look at my machine and made sure that was the only problem. Not only did he not charge for his time, he was going to just give me the needle he used to replace the old one for free. I made sure to buy a new pack from them and I will absolutely be going back any time I need anything for my machine. What a great business! read more

I'm not at all a sewing machine expert. I took my machine to the Plano sewing center to have repairs hoping they could help. After looking it over with me, a very nice lady showed me I was simply threading it wrong & had placed my needle in incorrectly. She didn't charge me for the help and was incredibly, beyond helpful. I'm making plans to attend one of their in-house sewing classes. My only complaint: The gentleman I had spoke with over the phone prior to arriving had some strong words to say about my sewing machine brand. Telling me that he hates working on them because the brand would simply break again. He told me that he hoped I would come in and consider purchasing the brand he carried in his store. Now I realize the job of any good salesman is to up sell you and while I don't doubt that my sewing machine brand isn't the greatest, I instantly felt defensive. No one wants someone touching their machinery if they hate working on it. Aside from that, the store was clean, well organized, the staff was super helpful & nice. Five stars is not enough to give this place. I brought my machine in passed the 60 day guarantee period yesterday. There was no problem. Rachel spent at least half an hour trying to figure out what went wrong. Not only did she fix it, she was a wealth of information and answered every question I had. This place is great! I took my broken sewing machine in to be repaired and look at new ones. While I was pricing and asking questions, they fixed my machine, said it was a minor problem and didn't charge me! Love, love, love that. I didn't buy a new one but inquired about classes. I signed up. Good prices and you can trade your machine in and apply that towards your purchase of a new one. The service is incredible, very knowledgeable, and they are eager to help. I am a beginner. My knowledge is limited to what I have learned on youtube. I walked into PSC today to look for a ruffler foot (not that I had any idea how to use one or even what one looked like). I was warmly greeted by Mary Beth. She asked how she could help me. I briefly explained my need the best I could. She asked me a few simple questions and we were off on the quest to find my part. She looked for a few min and was unable to locate my specific part. I thanked her for looking and then noticed they sell Baby Lock machines. I asked her if she had a few minutes to show me around and talk to me about some machines. She was more than happy too. Before I knew it almost 45 minutes had passed. I then asked her if there was somewhere else I could find the part I needed. She reluctantly suggested I call Compu Sew. HUGE mistake. I was so horrified by my phone call that I hung up. Poor Mary Beth looked horrified and was so apologetic for suggesting them only bc I needed the part pretty quick. After that horrible call Mary Beth went and checked the stock again, asked the technicians just to make sure the part wasn't hiding somewhere. So now 2x she has looked. As I was filing out an order form a lovely lady name Vitta was assisting another customer with a warm and funny tone. Mary Beth asked Vitta if she knew if the part was in the store. Vitta said she would look as soon as she was done with her customer. At that point Mary Beth was so eager to help me that she even offered to let me use her personal ruffler foot so I could complete my project on time. Amazing! She also sat down at a machine with me and taught me a cinching technique that I could do wo a foot. Just then Vitta came over saying she had found the part! The box had changed color and locations which is why it was overlooked. So now 3x someone has gone and physically looked for this part. Not only that. But after I bought the part Mary Beth sat down with me at one of the machines and taught me how to use it!! They absolutely went the extra mile. So much so that now I am lined out to buy my first Baby Lock machine and Serger from them and I could not be more excited! I worked in a very customer service industry so I know what true customer service looks like and let me tell you PSC HAS IT! I will never go anywhere else. Thank you ladies for such a marvelous experience. You really made a beginner feel important and eager to learn more! read more

He repaired an old Brother (gasp) machine I had in 5 seconds and then proceeded to check the whole machine and explain a few things to me that I wasn't aware of. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Needless to say times have changed and I could not even formulate an intelligent question let alone have the slightest clue what I needed. I knew I wanted to sew, and I knew I wanted to try embroidery and I knew I did not want to spend thousands of dollars. They listened to what I said, and showed me two different machines. Once I saw the Sofia in action I fell in love with it in an instant and was so excited with my new purchase. My Brother machine began freaking out right in the middle of making a quilt for my soon to be born nephew. Being relatively new to the area, I was not familiar with local sewing repair shops. So, I hopped online and found two options. One was an official Brother dealer. I called and the woman that answered the phone was incredibly rude from the start; not giving my money to her! I called the Sewing Center and was immediately impressed by the niceness of the woman who answered the phone. She told me to bring it in and they could look at it for free! When I took it in, the gentleman said that he was not an authorized dealer and actually was not able to look at it. He referred me to that lady, but when I mentioned how rude she was he said that they have heard that from a lot of people. Unfortunately, she is the closest around so, there wasn't anyone else to refer me to. :( I mentioned that I really wanted to finish the quilt and asked if there was anywhere that I could rent a machine. The owner, Ricky, actually let me borrow one of his really nice machines. It was a dream! If I had the money, I totally would buy one!! I was so impressed! He let me borrow the machine for a whole week and didn't charge me a dime! I thought that was so nice that I made them cookies as a thank you when I took the machine back. Additionally, they have several customers who offer embroidery services; the store itself doesn't offer the service, but just give them a call and ask them to recommend someone. I called the person, but they never returned my call. I have since decided not to have the quilt embroidered so I cannot comment on that person's work. I will definitely visit the Plano Sewing Center again and I suggest you do the same!! read more

I went in to have a problem with my machine checked, and while the woman and other employees there were extremely friendly, the man servicing my machine was incredibly rude and insulting. It's very nice that they have free consultations, and I'm sure everyone there was very knowledgable, it was some of the worst customer service I have had. He spent the entire appointment bashing my choice in machine, telling me I got scammed. he has no idea what I got it for or what I use it for, just apparently owning the machine deserves insults. He got offended when I told him I like my machine and I had to spend the appointment defending myself rather than just getting my problem addressed. Whatever his problems with the brand are, that is not my problem and I did not deserve to be criticized and treated like an idiot. If this person does not want to service Singer machines, he shouldn't have a giant singer sign in the window. So beware, if you own a singer under 30 years old, you will get treated like garbage at this place. I was going to buy some things while I was there because I appreciated the help, but after being repeatedly disrespected I put everything back and politely left. read more
