I Was Out Of Town, And Needed To Use A Nearby Gym. I Signed Up Under Their "No Commitment, No Minimum, Month To Month Membership".. Everything Was Alright, Until I Tried To Cancel. For The Past Week I've Been Trying To Cancel My Membership, And Because This Is The Gym I Signed Up With, They Expected Me To Come Back (Which Is Roughly 235 Miles Away) To Cancel . And I Attempted To Just Cancel With Them At The Gym Near My House, As If The Other Planet Fitness Gyms Don't Communicate, Evidently They Don't. The Front Desk Girl Gives Me The Number To This Gym And Says Since They're My "Home Gym" Id Have To Cancel Through Them. I Call Them And With My Luck, The Manager Is Out For The Weekend And I Have To Wait Till Today, Monday. I Call Them Back To Have An Illiterate So Called "Manager" That Wants To Take Offense And Argue With Me About Her Work Hours, As If I Was Concerned. All I Wanted Was To Cancel My Membership And Waive The Fee Since I've Been Trying To Cancel. But Apparently I Signed A Contract That States I'll Pay Another Month Upon Cancelling. And All She Can Do Is Offer Another Month And Transfer My Account To One Out Here. which I'm Not Interested In Either Option. I think this gym is actually pretty clean and well kept from other gyms I've experienced. The women's bathroom is rarely ever messy and I always see someone cleaning around the gym 95% of the time I'm there. I usually go random times too so I think cleanliness is pretty consistent. read more

Every time I come to this PF location he's gossiping with the ladies, engaging in inappropriate behavior, and has said some horrible remarks. I visited this location from los angeles and I took my nephew as a guest. This place is really clean and the people were fine - had no real interaction with the workers, but the other clients were friendly and everyone was cleaning benches when they were done. the bathroom/locker rooms were spotless. thanks, PF! Love having a planet fitness membership. I don't always use the location where I live in Goleta ca but my gold membership allows me to see other locations and I have to say the Salinas location was nice. Front desk was very personable and willing o show me around (that wasn't needed). I arrived around 9:30 an and it wasn't crowed at all. I am surprised I'm still here. I read the reviews but for a few bucks a month, this is in my budget. The staff is always courteous when I arrive. The gym is cleaner than others I've been too. There's always a staff member cleaning. I will admit, during peak times, it is packed! I've also taken the 30 min classes and the trainer Rocio is a lovely person and knowledgeable. This is a great Planet Fitness. I LOVE that it's open 24/7. It always seems to be busy, but they have plenty of machines, so it never feels claustrophobic. The parking lot is well-lit and has security, so it doesn't feel creepy if you are coming and going late at night. I also like that they have foam rollers and Tootsie Rolls, and the Black Card Spa areas are nice (good availability, quiet). read more

Do NOT get a membership here. The "14-19 year olds work out free" program seems alright on paper but the fact that there are no posted hours for that is completely bull$hit. I went from mostly being able to use whatever machine I want to having to wait indefinitely to get any sort of workout. The staff is good and I appreciate Gabby, but the fact that I can't even use my membership is completely ridiculous. If I wasn't locked into a contract I'd find another gym. read more

Front desk people are very rude for one "Eli" is very rude employee making faces at paying customers and talking bad about her coworkers in woman locker rooms with paying customers. Second "Eric" is also another rude employee makes me feel uncomfortable. Talks about customers with another employee named "Gustavo" and tends to think they will get away with it because they are good friends with the assistant manager as the told there other co worker they don't care because they have the assistant manager word if customers were to take it to the boss. Then last there another rude employee name Victoria who doesn't do her checks you tell her that the restroom needs maintenance and she doesn't bother to check the woman restroom when she's the only female on shift. read more

Recently started going to this location, since SCC hadn't opened their gyms up. Conveniently located close to the freeway, coffee shops, restaurants, and the back side of the mall. I was very impressed with their standards of cleanliness and enforcing social distancing guidelines and wearing face masks. There are several sanitation stations close by easy access. They do take your temperature once you check in, and it gives you an extra sense of security. Granted I can't tell if somebody is Covid positive... They do have social distancing reminders on the machines in between. I love that you could do cardio without a mask... you have to wear a mask when you're using with the weight machines. I will definitely go back once they reopen. I wish they had a circuit for 10 minute abs like some of the other locations. read more

Got my ex boyfriend, Voldemort, a gym membership here. He only used a 5 times. Yes. 5. Times. Only. Out of the 5 months of membership. I had to cancel the membership, because Voldemort was super abusive (physically , emotionally). The guy who was on the phone with me helped me cancel it over the phone, after I explained the situation to him. The last thing I wanted was to drive to Salinas, and run into Voldemort. The gym itself is fine, most of the employees that I have met seem nice, like Amner, Ivan, Victoria, Jackie, Daniel are pretty good people. However just on Wednesday night, I went to the gym with my sister and a woman in a black shirt, who I was later told was the assistant manager, was rude to my sister, she was waiting to purchase a water, when the assistant manager was yelling at her, asking what she needed, and rolled her eyes when my sister told her and was rude during the transaction. My sister goes to the gym more often than I do and she told me that she does that a lot and the assistant manager is switches moods quickly, she can be very nice and chill then switch and be very angry and aggressive and it's kind of concerning that I heard not just from my sister but other friends at the gym that she's like that with the employees that work with her. I wasn't planning on leaving a review but I was a bit concerned after my sister told me all this but has never said anything to anyone about it. read more

So I work out early in the AM and go to work after. Keep in mind there is not a lot of people in the gym when I work out. I have yet to have a hot or even warm shower. If you love cold showers this is the gym for you. When you ask why there is never hot water you will be told "we have a small water heater" ....... Because of course. WiFi is a joke. Using the mall WiFi is faster. If you get the Black membership for the massage beds expect at least 1 or more of the beds to not work. I can overlook the messy bathrooms because of the 24 hour nature of the gym and the weights always being used because there is not enough of them. When you say your not satisfied with level of service your told pay 68 bucks to end contract and a month more. Different breed of cats these PF managers seem to be. read more

I have been going to this Planet Fitness location for 3 years. Compared to other gyms I have belonged to - I have found this location to be clean and well maintained. If and when I notice anything that needs attention I report it to Jackie or Jerry and they address the situation right away. The time I go usually Jerry, Jackie or Gisele are working. They always greet me and any other members warmly. As far as the bathrooms - I have found them to be clean and stocked with required supplies. Other staff I see on the weekend - Berlin and Amner also never fail to greet me or other members with a good morning and smile. For me - I look forward to coming to the gym and doing my daily workout. The greetings from staff and a nice facility provide that extra motivation for me to want to work out in the early morning. read more

This gym has lots of exercises equipment and is kept clean, I love the hydro massage table. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I do have a problem with the gym offering free visits for the teenagers, they come in and just sit on the equipment and text on their phones, I'm sure they have all day to hang out but when I have limited time I don't need to have to wait for them to finish their texting. This gym is not the YMCA or the boys and girls club, I think they need to spend their summer somewhere else. I pay my dues and I want to be able to use the equipment not to wait for them to move off the equipment. Let's take care of the customers first. read more

As a forward, I gave this gym two stars because it lacks in everything that I consider important, but that doesn't mean it's not the gym for everybody. If the only thing you care about is a cheap price, then this is the gym for you; but note, in this case, you get what you pay for. If you care at all about what you get for that cheap price, most likely this is not the gym for you. This is not the gym for you if you care about having working equipment. While most of the equipment works most of the time, there are always several pieces of equipment down often for weeks (or longer) at a time. This is not the gym for you if you care about weights and other non-attached equipment being put back in the correct spots. Weights are often left laying on the floor. Dumbbells are often put back in the wrong places making it difficult to find the weights you are looking for. Kettlebells and other pieces of equipment are often left sitting all over the gym instead of in the spot they belong. In short, it's often a challenge to find the correct equipment to use. This is not the gym for you if you care about cleanliness. While it does have several cleaning stations, those stations are not stocked in the late evening/early morning hours. Requests to stock the cleaning stations go unfulfilled. Moreover, even when the stations are stocked, many people do not wipe down equipment and management does nothing to encourage people to do so. This is not the gym for you if you don't want to deal with "gym bros" or men and women more focused at looking at themselves in the mirror and taking selfies than actually working out. Take all the selfies you want, but don't get in other people's way to do it. This is not the gym for you if you actually want to use any machines rather than wait ten plus minutes while people sit and play on their phones doing no reps at all. This is not the gym for you if you want a welcoming experience. While much of the staff is good, management provides special treatment and different rules for those they perceive as knowledgeable compared to those people they perceive as not "knowing anything about exercise." For example, if they perceive that you know anything about exercise, you are permitted to occupy as machines as you want, even when the club is extremely busy. However, if they perceive you as not "knowing anything about exercise" you can't rotate machines between sets. You can ask the manager at the front desk about this who clarified that different rules applied but it's okay because as she further volunteered, she knows about things being unfair because she spent 14 months in jail. This is not the gym for you if you care about gym etiquette. As indicated in some the examples above, the gym etiquette of many of the people of the gym is horrible. This is not to say all members lack etiquette and consideration; most are great members; however, many aren't and the club doesn't seem to care. Those who lack gym etiquette lack it completely. The gym does nothing to attempt to address this issue. Also, while this has been my experience at the Salinas club, my limited experience at other Plant Fitness clubs has not been this bad. (I wouldn't recommend them, but I wouldn't tell somebody not to go either). In short, if you only care about price or you just want to say you have a gym membership, this might be the club for you. If you care about what the gym provides, this is not the gym for you. read more

She thinks she's the owner of planet fitness & over stepped her authority as a manager of that location, rude & unprofessional when it comes to service and dealing with a member she should step down and reconsider her position if she can't be professional and courteous. read more

I been a member for a few years now and management has never been worse I noticed a that management has changed one of the afternoon managers looked like she didn't know what she was doing and the morning manager is very rude to pf members and specifically to his co workers I seen his peers ask him questions and he proceeded to ignore them other staff members are awesome it's just their new management that makes me feel unwelcome here and it's not only me a group of my friends have also said that new management Isn't very welcoming pf is supposed to be a judgment free zone and as if new management it doesn't feel that way ! read more

We live in San Jose but have a weekend house in Marina, so when we come down for the weekends we hit up this gym. Let me tell you: this one blows the San Jose location away. This location is huge. There are rows upon rows of treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, plus some non-standard cardio equipment thrown in for good measure (I'm looking at you, weird stair master that you use while sitting). They even have row machines. There is a TRX area with all the fixings (kettle weights, medicine balls, an adjustable platform for jumping). The stretching area includes body balls. Plus they have an area for all of the standard free weights and machines (double the amount as SJ). The women's locker room is clean and spacious. The showers have actual doors on them. No comment on the men's but my husband says it is better than SJ. No doors on his showers though, just curtains. This gym has things I have only ever seen at the more expensive tier gyms. They have friendly staff. They are constantly cleaning their machines. And you still get all the fun Planet Fitness goodies (pizza, tan, massage, etc). read more
