Good gym has all the basics you need the only thing that is a problem is the restroom not having toilet paper or towels

Let me start by saying that I am not a gym rat. Having had experiences at both Marina and Salinas I…read morewill say that mostly the equipment is newish and in working order. The rehab staff at both sites are exemplary, the pools, not so much. The pool in Salinas has been out of commission for close to a year (as of 4/26), so those of us that rely on aqua therapy have been left behind. When dealing with staff there was very little assistance offered, but quite a bit of attitude. Since it's covered by our insurance, unlike other gyms in town, we'll probably just wait until it's repaired, since no one offered us the possibility of just going to Marina.

I wanted to share some honest feedback about my experience at Montage Wellness Salinas because the…read morelevel of customer service has been really disappointing lately. For a facility that likely brings in thousands of dollars in memberships, the professionalism at the front desk, especially during evenings and weekends, is lacking. Multiple times I've walked in to see multiple employees working at once, yet none of them greet members as they come in. Instead, they're sitting at the front desk eating full meals, on their phones, looking miserable or using personal laptops. A front desk at a gym should feel welcoming and attentive, not like employees are hanging out socially. Customer service etiquette seems to be missing during these shifts. When members walk in, there should at least be a simple acknowledgment like "hello" or "have a good workout." Unfortunately, that basic level of service isn't consistently happening. I do want to acknowledge that Randy, Diana, and the woman who usually works mornings are excellent. They are friendly, professional, and actually make members feel welcome when they arrive. Their attitude reflects the type of service you would expect from a wellness facility. However, the evening and weekend staff, particularly the guys and the other woman who work those shifts, seem to need additional training. Working at a gym doesn't just consist of sitting behind the front desk. It involves engaging with members, maintaining a professional environment, and making sure the facility is running smoothly. Another frustrating issue is the water fountains. Both fountains are currently not functioning properly and only work using the push option. There is a sign telling members to use the fountain near the restroom instead, but that one doesn't work either. For a wellness facility, something as basic as functioning water fountains should be a priority. Overall, it's frustrating to see such a nice facility fall short in areas that should be simple to fix: professionalism, basic customer service, and facility maintenance. I've noticed a clear difference in the level of service compared to the location in Marina, which feels much more professional and welcoming. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and considers providing additional training and oversight.

I've been with MAI since their Brazilian Jujitsu program started, which was four or five years ago…read more(from this review). MAI is an associated school to Claudio Franca's BJJ in Santa Cruz. The atmosphere here is quite relaxed, with a emphasis on sportsmanship and an open learning environment. At the time of this review, the owner holds a purple belt in BJJ ( & a high level black belt in Kempo Karate, but my experience in the Kempo classes is very limited). There are a few other purple belts who attend regularly and once a week Daniel Thomas, BJJ black belt, comes in and instructs. I'm probably biased, but I've yet to come across a better instructor than Daniel. The class sizes for BJJ are small to medium in size. I'd say an average of ten to fifteen students per class. The student body size is quite larger, but different people might come on different days. Personally I appreciate a smaller class size - more room on the mat! If you are an association member with Claudia Franca BJJ, you can also attend one class per month at the other association schools, which is quite worth doing. I can't speak for the Kempo Karate program for adults. I know a number of parents who have enrolled their children in MAI's children's Kempo classes and they have told me it is a great program. If you are new to BJJ and want to give it a shot or an established/former student and are looking for a place to train, you should drop by. Classes are Tuesday @ 615 PM and Thursday @ 615 PM. Daniel teaches on Tuesdays. There are also BJJ classes on Wednesday and Saturday in the morning hours. I'd recommend a Tuesday class for your first though. Your first class here will be no charge. If you have any questions, call the place up and ask for Erick.

The old school bags on the side. The smell of sweat and icy hot. I could see some kids grappling with there Instructor Josh 4-strip blue belt( I think really a purple belt.) leading the class. As class finished you could see how much the kids respected him. He introduced himself and said welcome in. They have a small dressing room across the mat. I went to change in the closed off studio. Class started with stretching and normal warm up. Went through some training moves. Great time on the mat. 4-5 5 min rolls with some really great students of this school! You guys rock!! Cheers!

I am always greeted when I walk in. Check in is quick. The reason I don't give it five stars is that the equipment in the cardio area has often been broken when I've been there. With the number of members that they have, the gym should keep the equipment in good repair. A year ago, I signed up with a personal trainer to get out of my sedentary pudginess. Although he was friendly, I wasn't making much progress. I do have some mobility issues to overcome, and he never pushed me. After he quit the gym, I got a new trainer, Brianna, a cute, tiny, young thing less than half my age. But I have to say, she's great! She listens to my goals, and despite my limitations, she pushes me to make progress. As a woman, I appreciate having a female trainer who takes me seriously regardless of my appearance. She has always been very professional, yet she has a friendly manner. I like her style! I've noticed that she's the only female trainer there. In the world of macho and muscle in the gym, I feel much more at ease with her as my trainer. If you, like me, are seeking to get into shape, and are a bit shy about being so out of shape, see if you can sign up with Brianna. Get in shape at In Shape!

For The Past Week I've Been Trying To Cancel My Membership, And Because This Is The Gym I Signed Up With, They Expected Me To Come Back (Which Is Roughly 235 Miles Away) To Cancel . And I Attempted To Just Cancel With Them At The Gym Near My House, As If The Other Planet Fitness Gyms Don't Communicate, Evidently They Don't. The Front Desk Girl Gives Me The Number To This Gym And Says Since They're My "Home Gym" Id Have To Cancel Through Them. I Call Them And With My Luck, The Manager Is Out For The Weekend And I Have To Wait Till Today, Monday. I Call Them Back To Have An Illiterate So Called "Manager" That Wants To Take Offense And Argue With Me About Her Work Hours, As If I Was Concerned. And All She Can Do Is Offer Another Month And Transfer My Account To One Out Here. which I'm Not Interested In Either Option. They're Terrible People That Will Get You To Sign Up With A "No Commitment, No Minimum, Month To Month Membership" To Twist Your Arm Behind Your Back And Force You To Top Up Another Month If You're Trying To Cancel, And Continue To Play Games With You Instead Of Cancelling Said Membership, I Wouldn't Recommend This Sorry Excuse Of A Dump To Anyone.
