When I am placed in these situations, I will say dumb, stupid things & lose my temper. May have cursed but never cursed at anyone & when you told several different things & sometimes, they had bad days & said things uncool. My overall experience their went from fun times to being felt judged & nitpicked at. When I was out of shape & skinny things seemed fine but once I started to get in better shape & wanted my support for my aging body as a man....I'm told im wrong for this? Why is it anytime my life starts to get better that someone ruins it other than myself crashing & burning. So little support or encouragement. Overall, they did not provide me with the recovery to driving again....I SHOULD BE DRIVING AGAIN but physically UNABLE & was in this program for years. They just eventually tell you dont come back for some time & I regret going back. They don't even have a good gym culture, and they WERE SO FRIENDLY & misleading & then out of nowhere super strict. They left me feeling confused & upset many times over the years. They did not care about my mental health or overall goal to drive! Honesty wasted my time making friends that turned around to ruin my life like so many do. Learn to treat people with known mental health issues better & dont have a therapist pretend to be their friend just to get uncomfortable with things they said. Most of her students had been with her for years, no other place in Monterey Bay has that kind of cult following this gym and its instructors have. Most people want to work out in a place where everyone looks like their ideal physique, and the people who attend this gym are definitely athletes. If you can get over your own insecurities and put in the work, you will love it here. Lastly, customer service is how it should be. Cancelling is easy. Signing up is easy. The monthly payment is low. There are no gimmicks or upselling or hassles. Just show up when you want to try a class and if you like it, join! Unfortunately with COVID I've been home doing Beachbody. I have a small child and can't make the drive over there for the foreseeable future. If I lived in Salinas, I'd be there in a heartbeat!

Update (11-17-2009)** I stand by what I said before, I really liked working out here, but I was just on the receiving end of a 4 letter word laden tirade from the owner because I turned the tv off. This is something I was given permission to do, but the owner feels that pressing the power button on the tv "broke everything". I follow all the rules, re-racked my weights, wiped down when I was done, etc. I was a model member so it was completely out of the blue for him to call my house to cuss me out. I started as a six week challenger, and while I did not meet my goal of 6% body fat loss, I chose to stay on to pursue my next fitness goal (not weight related), because I want to preserve my gain in muscle and strength. The cost per month is very reasonable for what is essentially small group training and access to the expertise of really great trainers. The gym is focused on functional strength, HIIT and Tabata style workouts that are a complete whole body workout in a short amount of time. Expect kettle bells, club bells, squats, and lots of body weight based exercises, along with a warmup and cool down, and assistance with a nutrition plan. They are expanding into striking classes and kids' programs as well. I dance ballet and practice yoga and was pleasantly surprised that I did not lose flexibility during my challenge and have better structural support in general for the demands of the disciplines. I'm able to balance better and longer, and lift and hold my legs higher because of this work. They have two locations: one in Monterey and one in Toro Park. No showers, but otherwise well appointed. You're able to reserve classes ahead of time using their push press app. If you're ready for a reset, just sign up for classes. The workouts are challenging but they aren't repetitive, we do same or different movements but the rounds, the time, the reps is not the same, all work outs are different on a daily biases. When he cancels a Saturday class its either because work is being done at the gym or another valid situation, not Just because he doesn't want to coach. That's crazy to even think that its just because he doesn't want to coach. Prices have gone up, but so has prices everywhere. If the prices didn't go up we wouldn't have a gym, and that's 100% facts. Go and check out other gyms and see how much they charge and they you will be appreciative of how much we pay. If you are having those issues with members hitting on you, defiantly speak to Jesse, he will nip it in the ass quick. Don't assume things. You are right the Facility is nice and the Community is awesome, But how do you write that after bashing this man's business and persona. We are a family and large community here, if your issues are with him, address them and ask to speak to him. Not come out and bash him, that not cool.
