This is the dirtiest gym I've ever been to, coast to coast. The bathrooms and showers smell like urine. The free weights are scattered all over, and none of the dumbbells are in order. Nobody wipes down their machines when they're done. The place has potential, but it desperately needs a strict policy on re-racking weights and someone consistently cleaning the bathrooms. I've been a member here for over 10 years. This location has gone downhill. Customer service is getting worse, not better. Bathrooms are dirty. Toilet paper is always low. Equipment sits broken for weeks. Dumbbells are always scattered everywhere. They also close the bathrooms like 30 minutes before closing the gym. That makes no sense. Some of us drink a lot of water during our sessions and need to use the restroom before we leave. One time the gym closed at 8, and around 7:30 I was walking into a stall and a employee physically grabbed me by the hood and pulled me back because I tried walking into the stall. He wasn't even cleaning that stall, and there was no cones or the area wasn't even closed down. That was completely out of line. That's just rude. Today was another example. I left my keys on a machine. I noticed on my way to the car. I didn't have my keys so I walked back into the gym. They had just closed, no one was in the front desk but one employee was sitting in the back table on his laptop like always. I've seen him in uniform cleaning before so I know he works there. I politely asked if someone found or turned in some keys. he looked annoyed and told me "I don't work here" and ignored me. On my way out I saw him inside the kids zone which isn't even open today (Sunday) If he's not staff, why is he in closed areas? If he IS staff, why lie and blow off a member? Either way, that was unprofessional. I wish staff members were approachable and willing to help me with my dumb questions. One girl sitting in the corner office on the internet pretended to be on the phone as soon as she saw me coming. The employees should pretend they enjoy their job. I'm not there to socialize just needed a bandaid for my father who was injured from one of the machines with a deep cut. Suggestion. The towel used to wipe down machines is grossly spreading germs. Why not use paper towel instead. The liquid in the spray bottle I predict is water. Odorless. Dear In-Shape, I am writing to you today because me and my family had the worst experience since we have been club members. I have been a loyal club member for many years and have visited various club locations and this was the first time me and my family ever experienced this type of unprofessional behavior from an In-Shape employee. On 19 November 2023 at around 9:45am through 10:3 0am at 1040 N Davis Rd. Salinas CA 93907 Club, an employee named Luis verbally reminded my wife and daughters to shower before entering the pool. My wife replied to Luis that she will make sure that she and the kids shower before entering. After my family entered the pool, he then made a hand gesture with his hands over his head and spreading his fingers to my wife and kids signaling them out and making them feel stupid. A few minutes later he comes over to my wife and kids in the pool area and asks if they shower in a degrading way. There were also other club members swimming and none of them received any ridiculous hand gestures or reminders. Also, my wife and kids were feeling uncontrollable because he kept looking at them the whole time and they felt like they were being singled out and harassed. My daughters also felt that they were not welcome at the club. I am very shocked about what happened, and I spoke with the Manager Damian about this whole ordeal and told him that I am going to file a formal complaint through In-Shape corporate HQ. He then told me to go to the website to file the complaint. I honestly am very disappointed with the type of behavior this employee demonstrated. This type of behavior should not be tolerated and should be handled appropriately before it becomes the norm with the in-shape employee culture. As a member of this gym, an overall rate of 3/5. It is out of control of the staff but members are not taking care of the equipment. We come here to get out workout out of the way but when you CAN'T find the weights it is time consuming. You find weights laying on the floor all over the building. That is unacceptable! Machine broken down. At this point, at the costs of the membership, it is not worth what we are getting charge. I canceled my membership from another gym to come to InShape, but if I CAN'T find the weights where they should be might as well head out to another gym. Please get this sorted out. When I first joined this gym in 2019, it was a great gym--clean, decent equipment, etc. I continued my monthly payments even when the gym closed due to COVID because I wanted to support it. Since then, this gym has deteriorated with broken down equipment and it's packed at all times of the day. Like all.the.time. They have only 4 upright bikes in the entire place and 2 of them are broken most of the time . I've reported it to the front desk and they literally shrug about it. Unfortunately, I'll be looking to join another gym asap. read more

Excellent gym with a hard working and friendly staff. Plenty of space, numerous classes, and tons of equipment to use. The hot tub, steam room, and sauna are clean and well maintained. Jasmine and her team work hard to provide a gym that is conducive to exercising in a positive, effective, judgment-free environment. Special recognition to Luis for his very diligent efforts in monitoring the steam room and sauna to ensure that everything is working properly, and no one is violating gym rules (e.g. covering temperature sensors with wet paper towels, etc.). It is a thankless job that no one would want to do, but is so important in order to keep the steam room and sauna functioning well. I have used different gyms throughout Northern and Southern California, and I can say without a doubt that this gym offers the most value for the money. Highly recommended. read more

Oct 26th I hesitantly returned to this location, but had no choice since I was working on this side of town. Oh My God!!! Someone had an accident in the ladies changing room!! Sad for that person, but that locker room smelled terrible. I thought maybe it just happened and someone would be in to clean it up, but nope. I left at 9 and it was still there. I asked the employee at front that someone should at least spray the lockers and ventilate the area, but surprisingly (hmmm actually not really surprised any more) they had no maintenance person that morning. In-shape, you promised to take all customer concerns seriously. Please keep an eye on this location and help them out. Exposure to human stool is a huge health concern. Provide the same support and monitor the needs for this location as you would do for any other one. I am sure you would not let this sit out if it was the PG location right? Please address this. I returned to this location today and was pleasantly surprised with the progress in the women's locker room. The first picture you will see is what I found when I arrived, but the minute I walked out maintenance crew went in and picked up. As I worked out I even saw Hector, the manager, with a mop!!! Great job at stepping up. The gym itself has always been very clean. Now that the locker room and showers have improved, you are making this a truly pleasant experience. They always greet me with a smile and by my name and make me feel welcome. Please acknowledge their contributions to your staff. Veronica has been there for quite some time and she works in keeping the facility clean. She goes about her job with obvious dedication but always looks happy in what she's doing. A joy to be around. Derek's spin classes really rock. Each class is a little different so they never get boring. I can tell he puts some time into planning each of these. Killer sound tracks too. On another note: Whoever is responsible for Jackie's departure should get a serious reprimand or a beating. This is a very large full equipment gym. There are different areas in the gym dedicated to functional fitness wit a TRX station, free weights, machines, cables, cycle room, group fitness, cardio and pool area. The gym is fairly clean the biggest issue is members don't re-rack the weights. When I go in the evenings I usually see Jimmy working at a feverish pace to keep the locker room and bathrooms clean. I prefer this location. Not only is it reasonably staffed, but their employees are super welcoming. There's never more than two employees at the front desk. The employees keep the place clean, i don't think I've seen a spec of dust here. They make hourly rounds to scope the area. It's also much larger and has a wider variety of machines. The one downside according to my boyfriend, is that the sauna and steam room arent as hot. read more

After completing online, I waited to be helped only be told that corporate discount couldn't be applied in person. Please note, employee told me I needed to sign up and that she would add discount after completion. I was then told I needed to cancel membership and resign up. I asked if they could add it only to be told that I didn't know anything and they couldn't help me at all. I asked to speak to a manager since the employee refused to help. Place is filthy, cup holders on equipment have gum and other garbage in them, bathroom are filthy! They wipe down the equipment regularly but it's always a quick wipe and not a detailed deep cleaning. Equipment is always broken. I have been a member of this gym for a couple years and unfortunately, the equipment and cleanliness of the gym has deteriorated over the last year. However, the last couple of months it has only become worse. As to the equipment itself, there are several and, I mean several, machines that are not working and have remained out of service for some time now. For example, I participate in the spin class at 5 am and there has been six bikes which have been broken for over one month. Consider waking up at 4 am to attend a 5 am spin class to only be denied due to not having enough spin bikes available. The spin instructor has been left without a bike as the instructor would give up the bike in order for that person to participate in the class. So now the spin instructor is left without a bike, which is ridiculous. But why would management care since they don't have to deal with the problem. Kind of out of sight, out of mind since so called "management" doesn't show up until later in the morning. And the one time I brought this to the attention of Hector, the so called "manager", his reply was, "Do you use the machine?" Great customer service Hector, perhaps he needs to be re-orientated in customer service but what does he care as long as he meets his quotas and gets compensated for bringing in more clients. This is frustrating for several members of this gym. As to the "cleanliness" of this gym, as you can see with the photos below it is a disaster. These photos are from a Monday morning at 430 am. So, I would assume the house keepers from the night before didn't do their job. Now before I get an excuse, this is not an isolated incident as I have found the locker to be in disarray like this on several occasions. From paper towels on the floor, over flowing trash cans, no paper towels, lack of hand soap, no toilet paper, dirty bathroom stalls and showers. In the actual gym itself, the floors in the main room and spin room are always dirty. And when they are cleaned, I assume they use an old mop since it leaves a pretty bad odor in these rooms. Also, there needs to be someone responsible for putting the weights and workout equipment back in its appropriate place as there have been several times I have walked around the gym to find the equipment I needed. There has never been an issue with InShape billing me on a monthly basis or for the yearly additional charge which is for "maintenance" which is clearly not the case here at this gym. Considering there are other gyms in the area and a new one opening closer to my home, it may time to get in shape somewhere else. read more

This is a very large gym with decent exercise equipment but it is always over packed. We usually go around 5:30-7:00 which I know is probably their busiest time but for how large of a facility it is you would think that there would be some open equipment but there isn't. If it works with your schedule to go earlier in the day or even earlier in the afternoon, this place would be worth it! But if you only have time to go after work in the late afternoon, be prepared for limited equipment. read more

This gym sucks. Seriously, they NEVER EVER have hot water for showers. It's always cold. The only time the shower water gets warm or hot is when someone flushes the toilet. It will be warm for roughly 30 seconds then back to cold. Plus when walking into the showers you can literally smell the mildew. Its disgusting. Monterey inshape is soo much cleaner. I rather drive the extra miles to go to Monterey because this gym is nasty. Plus all the girls that work there when talking on the intercom they have it way to close their mouth. This gym is by far the WORST I've ever attended. I have asked several times to have the pool cleaned and equipment repaired and they never seem to have time. This last time I spoke to them about the pool they said they would leave a message for the manager, so either the manager doesn't care about our health or safety is not a priority. I find it disgusting when I find a used condom in the swimming pool, what kind of animals uses this pool!! If they had someone checking the pool on a daily basis, even doing a basic cleaning you would find Sh** like that or a battery, or hair floating around. They have rules on what you should wear when using the pool area, and while that is great YOU MUST IMPLEMENT THEM!! Other wise they are just words. I am not a happy member of the Wellness Center, and although I am paying a bit more it is well worth my hard earned. My health is worth more. If anyone can tell me how to get a-hold of the health department to have them due an inspection please let me know. read more
