This location reminded me of the movie with Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez called "Shall We Dance". If you have seen this movie, you know what I'm talking about because in that movie, he sees into the dance studio from a Chicago train. The dance floor here in Rochester was as professional as "dancing with the stars". Normally, when I dance all night in my cowboy boots, my feet are hurting at the end of the night and the owner of the dance studio. Let us know that with the cushioning on the dance floor, our feet would not hurt like they normally do from dancing. What a fun place to come. They have regular ballroom lessons and other special events. The parking behind the building was good and they even have a parking structure a block over. She lead their Hustle n Heels class last week, and proved to be a great teacher. She took her time with the students, didn't jump ahead without checking to see if we'd mastered previous counts and was non-judgmental and encouraging. Highlighted on Fox 2, she and her partner offer monthly group classes and events. You may also book them for private events. If you're interested in learning the lastest dances, I recommend attending their East or West side classes. You may find and follow them on Facebook. They also have a YouTube channel. They don't put any limits on the class size and there are way too many people for the size of the room. The classes don't start on time because of the long line to get in and poor management. They will also require people to go through their beginner classes to get to the higher level classes even if they have experience and don't need them. They have rock bottom prices with their Groupon specials (which attracts a lot of people,) but it would be better to pay a little bit more to go to a professional studio.

I have a son who has done aerials for a full year elsewhere. Because of Agora's policy and the way the children's classes are set up, they have the first and second tiers simultaneously. We were told that they would see if he would be advanced enough to place in the second tier within a few weeks. I've never noticed anyone actually take a second to evaluate any of the kids, but I have noticed some of the tinier, stretchier girls have been place with the second group. I get that girls are typically more limber than boys; but he is strong and skilled on the equipment.. Needless to say he's still in the first tier. So every week we go and every week he stands in line for approximately 30-40 minutes just to hang on a piece of silk or a trapeze or a Lyra for 15 seconds. We do this about 7-8 times and the hour is up. $160 for this for 8 weeks? It's disappointing. I guess my hopes were too high. Oh the other thing they get ya with is that in order for your child to be in the performance they have to register for the first course and that ends before the program, so then you must enroll in the next 8 weeks. My issue, however, is with the abhorrent waiting area & lobby. With as many families and children who enter and exit the building, there is zero excuse not to have built a larger more accommodating front lobby. Kids and teens kick off their shoes and leave them EVERYWHERE while the lack of seating forces some parents to wait in the car (keep in mind, there is only curbside parking unless you leave your vehicle across the road in a CVS lot). I wish they could knock out a wall, reduce the size of the main studio or figure something out. Again, not much thought was put in to this aspect of the facility. While I stress that the actual instruction is outstanding, there is very little organization when it comes to ushering students aged 3-6 in & out of their lesson. This age requires guidance and direction, but in between classes is a free-for-all. Instructors should retrieve, line up and lead their students into whichever area they're heading to. Given the aforementioned situation with the waiting area, it'd be a huge help in reducing some of that front lobby chaos. Ms. Pat is incredibly knowledgeable, kind hearted and direct with both her staff and the families who attend. It's a great studio, especially for first timer little ones and I recommend DDA to anyone seeking options for dance. Just be aware of the surrounding factors listed above and you won't be as surprised/frustrated as I've seen some parents be.

I have a very conflicted feelings after leaving the studio. I recently tried a Barre class and the…read moreinstructor was a delight. She did a good mix of Barre and cardio. If you are looking to try Barre, are not a natural born ballerina, and don't want to be intimidated; go to CC plus Fitness. On the other hand, their ambiguous introductory offer is off putting and deceiving. Upon arriving for the first time, you are told you can have a week of free classes or 11 classes for 30 dollars, BUT you have to decide in that instant. You are not allowed to try a new class first and then make a decision. How was I supposed to know how my body would react to a new exercise or whether or not I would even like it? I don't know about you, but I can't throw money around, even if it's only 30 dollars. So I left after my first class not really making either decision. After further consideration, I hopped online and found the Groupon deal and bought it. Excited to start my new work out regime, I showed up and was told that I was no longer a new client. Because I had been to ONE class, that made me an "active member" of the CC and thus I am not eligible. I was turned away, the worker was rude and mean. I didn't come to the gym to feel condescended and small. I'll take some responsibility here as I did not understand that I was no longer a new client after the first free class, but that was not clearly articulated to me. Instead, I was barked at and made to feel insignificant and small at my mistake. So, like I said, I have conflicting feelings. The instructor of the one class I attended was quite lovely and encouraging. The worker at the front counter, possibly the manager or owner, was insulting and mean.
