I've been taking Zumba classes at Studio Z Fitness for the past 5 1/2 years on and off! I was…read morefirst introduced to the class, as the nail salon that I go to is next door to Studio Z Fitness. I could always tell that the classes were jam packed, and I would always hear the music playing at the nail salon, so one day I was curious enough to walk over to the studio to learn more about the classes, and I am so glad that I did! I have been in love with the classes ever since! The first time I participated in a class, it was not as difficult as I assumed. I remembered back then, both Alisa and Mallory were so very nice, and professional, I loved taking both of their classes. I also remember taking Ria's class for the first time, and she was such a fiery ball of energy, I loved it! I'm not as consistent as I used to be with attending classes, but there are a majority of classes to participate in. And what I really appreciate and like is that the daily schedule is flexible, and some days the last class offered is at 8:00 p.m., which is very convenient for me. B/c I can get off of work, run errands, prepare dinner, and have time to still exercise in the late evening. I know there is a Mixxed-Fit class that is offered, Zumba, there is a Zumba-Gold class, and several other classes. There are also classes that are offered for children. Again, I can't say enough positives about the studio. The staff are very professional and always so pleasant, the classes are accommodating and there are several classes offered, plus different times accommodate every schedule, and the pricing of the classes are very reasonable. Individuals can pay per class, or purchase passes for different amounts. Studio Z Fitness is worth trying out if close in the Sterling Heights area!

I love this gym. Groupon allowed me to try it for a month for $27 so my expectations were low. I…read morecouldn't find very much information on the Web and there weren't many reviews. Well, here's mine! It's off of 11 mile and I almost didn't find it because it shares a building with a tanning salon. There is free parking in a private lot. There's normally one woman working at the front desk and all three I've met are friendly. They offer a free one day pass either to take a class or workout in the gym. The classes look intimidating for a beginner. I say that because most involve weights and/or boot camp with the exception of yoga. I enjoyed the yoga class because it was relaxing and perfect for beginners (like me). The instructor didn't mind assisting me. The fitness classes are only offered during the week after work hours so I hear they can be crowded. There is a small locker room and a restroom which is shared. There is no shower, there are no towels and there isn't much room for changing clothes. However the entire facility is new and clean, so much so that you are encouraged to change into new or clean shoes when you arrive. I love the weight machines! They are new and designed for a woman which is a new experience for me. There's all the equipment you need to work your arms, legs, shoulders, abs etc. The only machines I didn't see were a traditional row machine, a hip abductor or a lat machine. But they have other equipment you can substitute with to work the same muscle groups. There are two flarge flat screen TV's that face the cardio machines. There's no music in the gym area which I appreciate because I can rock my headphones. There isn't a lot of cardio equipment. There are a few treadmills and bikes. There's also a bike type machine with resistance that works your whole body. There is one cardio machine which looks like a hybrid of an elliptical and an arc trainer. And there are two machines which have bike pedals for your arms. I'll get the official name and update my review :). The free weights are all new in pretty colors (yay) and they don't give you calluses. The studio which is used for classes has a beautiful wood floor, windows and mirrors. There are plenty of jump ropes, balls, mats etc. It's a perfect area to do ab work (there are tips on the wall), to stretch or cool down. The temperature is also comfortable. The only negative experience I had was that they were closed once. It wasn't on their voicemail and there was no note on the door. But overall, I love this gym. It's clean and comfortable with new equipment and nice staff. If you workout in the early afternoon or on weekends, you'll practically have it to yourself. Its open until 9 on Saturday and 5 on Sunday which is rare. Yes, it's small and there's no daycare. But it's worth paying $39 a month to not have the pressure to look cute or worry about some creep oggling at you. I just wish I'd discovered it sooner!

But since then I have tried several times to go and PAY to become a member and there is never staff there to do this during hours that are listed on their website as "staffed hours" On top of that you can't call because no one ever answers the phone and it just rings and rings and rings. So I can't rate this gym from a members perspective because they never allowed me to become a member

Even when I re-enroll for another year paid up front, they still hit me with an enrollment fee, sign-up fee, etc. I think that's kind of crazy for a returning member. My last straw was when they tore down the cinema to make it ANOTHER paywalled area, and it's literally just another room with nicer weightlifting equipment.

Extremely Misleading Sales Tactics & Unprofessional Experience…read more I walked into Edge Fitness today after speaking with a representative named Blake yesterday. I was literally online completing my membership purchase when he called me -- told me to stop, said he had better "in-house deals," and even mentioned a "buy one year, get one year free" offer. He asked me to come in Saturday, and we set an appointment for 12:30 PM. I rearranged my day, left my kids at home, and showed up exactly as scheduled. When I asked for Blake, I was told the deal he promised was "gone" and that the price had actually gone up from what I saw online. Not only was the $19.99 mid-tier no longer available, but the price was now $22.99... and suddenly the "one year free" became "three months free," which could "change tomorrow." Why would you call me, stop me from purchasing online, tell me to come in for a better deal, and then act like none of it ever happened the next day? The young woman who tried to help afterward was polite, but the damage was done. The experience was misleading, dismissive, and honestly embarrassing for the gym. This isn't how you treat people who walk in ready to do business -- especially someone recovering from spinal surgery who explained they're just trying to get back into fitness with basic stretching. This felt like a bait-and-switch situation, and if this is how Edge Fitness trains staff to operate, corporate needs to know. Completely unacceptable.
