New Way Training Center - Boxing Near Me - Clinton Township, Michigan

See all

Excellent training center with fair prices. The environment is family-friendly, too. They offer training in BJJ, boxing, kick boxing, Judo, and self-defense classes for all ages. As an older woman, I have grown in confidence with knowledge/skills in how to protect myself. The instructor, Izi is the best. read more

Very nice and welcoming coaching staff. Would recommend to anyone who wants to compete or just wants to learn self defense.

I joined this school just over a year ago. Now I can confidently say if you threw me to the wolves, I would come back as the leader of the pack. I've become a blue belt (2nd Dan), which is pretty much the same thing as a lion, gorilla, and a shark all mixed together. If you want to be the best you, join New Way Martial Arts! read more

DO YOU WANT QUALITY OR CULT? UPDATE BELOW: *NONE of my complaints were addressed at all, even BRANDON left himself a good review implying that "competing" (he claims to compete as well) somehow takes the place of formal training (do you have ANY certificate of ANY formal training?)So who does that? No need to, JUST POST YOUR TRAINING CREDENTIALS ‍ Original post below : Hi! I spoke with The "OWNER" who then referred me to Brandon Halstead ("karate" instructor) who I chatted with a few times before I stopped in here to watch a karate class with intention of enrolling my kids, sadly I was not impressed at all. * I am an ex-Karate STUDENT with NO AFFILIATION with any school,(I trained years back and the school is now closed), so when the karate instructor said he trained Koei-Kan (one style among a few I'm familiar with) I was excited to see the class, but WOW what I saw was a sad excuse for a "karate"class, it appeared to me that he was using dubious training methods, and if the OWNERS and OTHER "INSTRUCTORS" have allowed, and even encourage this behavior? then I can't IMAGINE what their own WEAK TRAINING and LINEAGE really is in jiu jitsu ‍ SERIOUSLY FOLKS STOP DRINKING THE KOOL-AID, do a little SIMPLE RESEARCH ONLINE. * Karate instructor made kids say "yes sir" with each push up. Yes sir! Yes sir! Well, You get the point. NEVER done in a legitimate karate school . . . Creepy * Students of other classes and instructors that were not teaching or participating in the ongoing karate class were walking/cutting across the mats as the karate class was ongoing (disrespectful) * Class was poorly organized from what I saw, students belts were falling off, they would then either trample on them or kick them aside, either option is disrespectful to the uniform and art * The Karate instructor spoke a lot about himself and his credentials (I never saw any certifications posted) I tried to do a search online for his instructor named Katsumi Niikura karate lineage is totally MADE UP (Are ANY of the "instructors" here real? *GOOGLE "Katsumi Niikura" and check out the YOUTUBE videos of him, BLOWING DOWN FIGHTERS WITH HIS BREATH! Really guys? Pfffff, * AS FOR the other style you mention, Koei-Kan, YOU CAN EASILY CONTACT SENSEI MASON if you actually DESERVE A CERTIFICATE or even a TESTIMONIAL from Sensei Mason would be EASY to ask for,his phone number is posted online but then ALL INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATIONS SHOULD BE POSTED IN YOUR SCHOOL RIGHT "OWNERS"?, otherwise AMMEND your website to remove mention of ANY "training" your "INSTRUCTORS" have so your STUDENTS can have REAL confidence in who's training them * To me, the place was all around just creepy with creepy instructors and OWNERS just looking to TAKE peoples MONEY . . . people just sorta lurking around. NO-WAY! to new way If this review helps you , please click the like symbol or share! read more

Awesome gym with awesome coaches and students! Definitely would recommend any of their classes!

It's quite evident that a fellow reviewer has never stepped foot in New Way and/or never stayed for a class of any kind. The staff and clients of New Way are the most honest, honorable, and patient martial artists I've ever encountered. I was raised in a militant dojo and New Way has made it their mission to avoid any and all demeaning practices. YES, they promote structure and good manners, like any reputable school should, but they employ modern/progressive instructional practices that even regular classroom teachers should be using. My daughter and her New Way classmates are in the best of hands with Sensei Brandon at the helm. It's mind opening just how diverse this team of instructors is and just how concerned they are for the well being and education of all their students. Thank you and God Bless! read more

Great place! My daughter loves sensei Brandon. She has learned a lot and loves going to his classes. Nice clean place.

I love this place! It will be my one year anniversary this June. The people are great. I usually do morning classes ( kick boxing, TRX suspension training, body fit). Izi, one of the owners and trainer at the gym, is great. I love going there everyday and seeing the morning crew. Everyone is just supportive and fun to be around! read more

Since I enrolled my son (7) at New Way he has really grown on an individual level. He has gained so much confidence and a sense of initiative. He adores his instructor Brandon and chooses to do not 1, not 2, but 3 classes a night. Brandon is great with all of the kids and very positive with reinforcing their strengths. Hes wonderful at recognizing each child for their talents, abilities or even their determination. I think it's probably been one of the happiest experiences of my sons life. Thank you New Way. read more

My kids have been training in kid's kudo for almost a year now and they love it! They learn so much here, a lot of different fighting styles and things they can actually use in real life. They don't just learn moves, they actually get to fight in a fun and safe way. Sensei Brandon's calling is teaching the little kids, he's so patient and funny, and all of the kids love and respect him. They've also made so many new friends here! Everyone at the gym is so nice and welcoming, they make it feel like a big family. The price is very affordable as well, even for big families. read more

If I could rate New Way Martial Arts higher I would. I can't say enough good things about the instructors and my fellow students. No egos, no drama, no BS. Just awesome people working hard and supporting each other every step of the way. The children's jiu jitsu and karate programs are also awesome. Both of my children are in the jiu jitsu and karate programs and they have learned so much. read more

Best gym for anyone interested in mixed martial arts or a good ass workout, be sure to check it out

It's an incredible place, well worth checking out a free class if just to see the facilities. They really do have everything: large strength and conditioning/TRX area, 2 boxing rings, full mma cage, massive heavy bag area, giant mat area for grappling/kids classes, and the most diverse set of coaches/instructors you could ask for. There really is something for everyone here, though I would argue that families with children see the best value. I have 2 kids in both bjj and kudo/boxing classes with the wife and I taking a variety of striking and grappling classes. It's helps us all to be more active, have fun, learn new things constantly, and lose/maintain weight consistently. I've seen both men and woman ranging in age 15-55 meet their goals of fitness, competition, or both. They aren't joking when they say they're the largest facility in MI, but they're also one of the friendliest, and they've changed the way I think about living my life. I know my review sounds too good, but I can't think of anything bad to say about New Way except for an occasional cracked mirror or ugly ceiling panel. I guess it would be perfect if they had classes 24/7 or if it was free, but if you use your membership regularly the value unbeatable. read more
