This review is long overdue! My son has been attending goldfish since he was 5 months old so a little over a year now, we have been so lucky to have ARIAH as his teacher in both levels so far. She truly makes every kid in her class feel so special and you can tell she enjoys her job. My son is very comfortable in the water so thank you Ariah and goldfish! We also had his first birthday party here..the staff and facility truly went over and beyond to make his first birthday perfect. They provide decorations, paper products, cupcakes, juice boxes...you can bring whatever outside food you would like. The staff wouldn't let us lift a finger...would ask where we wanted something and it was done! They helped serve the guest food, packed up for me, even cleaned my son highchair which was full of cake...like I said OVER AND BEYOND what I was expecting. Thank you Valentina and Ariah! As for the facility they keep it clean and if there is any issue in the pool they don't hesitate to shut it down. The pool is warm and with your membership you get open swim 12-1 during the week which is a nice perk. Definitely recommend for swim lessons or a birthday party. read more

That fact that the school forces kids to go without their parent if they are not ready at 3 is ridiculous. Everyone learns at different levels and speed. I want to see the studies that prove their program is appropriate for the ages they have picked. We were very happy with Goldfish until they told us of this policy that after 3, it's solo. I meant to write this a while back and after hearing a similar story where a parents kid was picked up and dropped in the pool. I think people should be aware of this policy and pick a program that aligns with them. As parents we should all help our kids grow and push them outside of their comfort zone, but it should also be age appropriate. 3 is not that age. read more

Watch out for the 30-day cancellation trap. They kept forcing me to extend 30 day payments, as I was trying to use 7 sick class make ups. This past winter has been rough on my son as he was catching a cold every other week. All I wanted to do was use my 7 paid lessons and transition out of the program. They told me I could not do that forcing me to re-up for 30 more days. Doesn't seem fair they're all about the money. read more

I have a confession: when we found out that we're moving to a different state, the first thing I did was look up to see if there was a Goldfish swim school nearby. That's how much we've enjoyed this place. I initially balked at the lessons price (came out to a little over $20/lesson for my toddler) but it turned out to be so worth it. My daughter did the Mini 2 classes with Alexis. The first few classes were extremely rough because my daughter just hated being in the pool. I believe it took a full month to just get her to stay in the pool for the whole lesson and not scream bloody murder. As a parent, I always dread my kid being the one having a meltdown even though it happens to everyone. I'm so appreciative of the fact that Alexis and even the other families that were in the class were so patient, understanding, and supportive during those first four, trying lessons. I'm glad we stuck with it because she's improved so much. Our problem now is convincing her to get out of the pool. Family swim time is offered six days a week, excluding Saturday. If your child is enrolled in a class, you can attend family swim time free of charge Monday - Thursday. Taking advantage of family swim time also helped us speed up our daughter's confidence with being in the water. You also get access to most of the pool toys that they have during family swim time and there's always a life guard watching the pool. I've always found the place to be extremely clean and the layout to be well thought out. They have a station with multiple hair dryers and even a machine that'll shake your swimsuit dry. There are bottles of shampoo and soap provided in the shower area. Snacks are available for purchase. Not entirely sure if the coffee is complimentary. The balloons are though and my daughter made sure she took full advantage of that. There are cubbies to store your stuff. You're also allowed to take your bag with you into the pool area during lessons if you so desire. Parking was never an issue. The free wifi also actually worked. Staff was always professional, cheerful, and kind. We unfortunately had to stop lessons all together because the pool water, combined with the dry, winter weather, exacerbated her eczema. You're supposed to give a 30 day prior notice before your child's last lesson, but they waived this rule for us because of the eczema. They didn't have to so I'm definitely thankful for that. We also travel quite a bit so my daughter had a lot of makeup class credits. Since we had to end her lessons, they just changed those into family swim time passes. read more

This place is amazing! In just a few weeks, my 6 year old has learned and grown more as a swimmer than I would have imagined. She loves everything from the gun teachers, warm pool, ribbons they give for acquiring new skills, to the friends she makes each week. She asks to take extra classes each time! And parents have full view of the kids behind a glass wall. Comfy chairs, great free wifi, clean restrooms, friendly staff- love love it all! O- and sooo organized. As a teacher- I appreciate that so much. And a solid swim curriculum each teacher follows religiously. So grateful a friend clued me in about this gem. read more

My younger daughter received 6 months of swim lessons at this location for her birthday last year and she loved it! Super nice people and a clean facility!‍ We had a birthday party at this location today for our daughter and let me tell you... this lady, Valentina, who coordinates the parties totally rocks! She does it all for you... plus she is super on top of EVERYTHING! (Very organized!) Also there's 2 lifeguards to watch the kiddos swimming and they help keep it all running smoothly! The whole party is planned down to the minute, they get the kids out of the pool that they have to themselves for an hour and keep it all rolling and you get to relax! ...this was the absolute best experience for a birthday party!!! My son has been attending Goldfish (Macomb) since it first opened in March 2014. This place is phenomenal! It is super clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly, both at the desk and the teachers. We enjoy coming here once a week. The price may seem a little steep but I feel that it is a good value for what you pay. My son will be four in a month and he can swim at least a good 20 feet by himself. He can also swim to the bottom on the pool to grab a ring. Most importantly, he really enjoys going there. We will be signing our daughter up in the Fall because we like Goldfish so much! read more

Gold fish swim school is a wonderful place for beginners to learn how to swim. The facility is spotless and the staff is extremely helpful, encouraging and upbeat! My only problem is that when you call, the staff does not answer the phone. I have called on several occasions only to get a recording that they will call you back promptly which is not the case. For the price of the lessons, I would think that having a staff member pick up the phone or at least return a phone call promptly is not too much to ask. Goldfish swim school is truly a life saver...no pun intended;) My 4 year old son went from being afraid to put his face in the water in the bathtub to swimming half the pools' length underwater within 4 months. The teachers, and I'm being partial to Justin, are amazing!!!!! He works so well with both my 4 and 2 year old. The concept of this swim school in general in nothing short of amazing, they have it set up for your child to succeed and they WILL succeed (it truly happens overnight). If you are questioning whether the money is worth it...it 100% is, because we all know, learning how to swim/save yourself is priceless. read more

I love this place & so do my kids. Yes, it is expensive but it is money well spent. I use to send my son to the local high school for swim classes. He would spend approx. 5 minutes in the water & want to get out. His lips were purple & he would shiver uncontrollably because of the temperature of the water. He never wanted to go swimming. Now at Goldfish, I can't get him out of the water. And their Kid's Night Out parties are awesome as well. The place is very clean & the instructors/office staff are some of the nicest people around. His skills and being comfortable in and around water was my goal for him and he has completely exceeded that all because of the staff. The teachers and staff are just incredible and dedicated.
