Oh the things I've learned!! Worst dance studio in Canton area, or pretty close to it. Don't get sucked in by their lower prices since they will compensate by overcharging you for costumes, tights, costume picture fees (even if your kid isn't going to be there for the picture), picture prices, and recital tickets. Recital is held at Clarenceville HS in Livonia and it is a dump! Very limited parking, no dressing room (just quick change), no place for your kid to wait between their dances except an unsupervised hallway off the stage door, rude and snobby competition kids and parents, and worst of all the horrible owner that will yell at you for asking a question. Gee, sorry, I wasn't aware that I had to buy a seat for my child and then run her back and forth since you don't have an area for parents to drop their kids off that is being supervised by adults and had to have her on my lap AND then she tried to force me to buy a ticket for her when there was no seat. Sorry, perhaps do a better job organizing it and making sure parents, especially new parents, know what's going on as to avoid these potholes. She has no customer service skills except to ask you for your money but don't worry, she won't thank you for it. The lady at the front desk is nice but seems stressed out all the time, and the teachers don't seem to know what's going on most of the time. Competition kids constantly interrupt classes by barging in the room to use their poorly placed bathrooms (there are ZERO in the lobby) or to retrieve an item left behind, they run around the studio yelling and throwing food, leave trash everywhere, while staff looks the other way. They leave their junk all over the chairs and benches so parents have few places to sit, and if you tuck their things under a chair so you can sit with your baby they will rudely tell you to move and not touch their stuff. Some kids are nice, but many of the 12 & under are entitled brats and their parents often find it funny. Many times classes have started late, ended on time or early, so you really don't even get the time you pay for when a 30 minute class is constantly shorted 5-8 minutes... it adds up quickly. While there are 4 studio rooms, they are all small, 2 are awkwardly shaped - and at least 1 of them is marley over TILE. This is the worst floor for dancing since there is no shock absorbing and is super rough on joints with dance shoes that basically cover your feet and also do not have any shock absorption. We moved to the area last year and gave this place a try, so much information wasn't provided at registration that, as a new parent to a child in dance, I didn't know what questions to ask. My daughter really wanted to stay this year because her best friend is taking a class there but can definitively say we will not be returning. Too many times have I seen the owner, Melissa, behaving wildly inappropriate for a studio owner AND teacher towards a variety of parents and students. I don't care what parent is asking whatever "stupid" question, they should never be spoken down to with such rudeness and unprofessionalism by a business owner. Also LOTS of recycled choreography. Is no one creative that they have to reuse the same combos? With the multitude of dance studios in Canton/Plymouth you'd think she'd want people to enroll at hers, but clearly she doesn't care much - which says a lot right there. We have already been visiting and watching several other studios the last few weeks and can tell you that they all cost a little bit more, but you get a longer class, recitals are in the area (one is in Saline, but they weren't thrilled when I asked if we could watch a class to see how they are... so... no thanks). There are better options out there, do your research, ask lots of questions, and walk away from rude, condescending establishments. read more
