We felt uncomfortable to send her back so we cancelled her lessons. The other daughter wanted to continue lessons but the owner called and told us not to send her as well. Payment is required one month upfront and we were willing to take a loss on the one daughter but not both. The owner refuses refunds.

Parents, think twice before enrolling your child here!…read more My daughter has been involved in several shows with this company, and each time the experience gets worse. After this last one, we're officially done. Over the course of 3 months, there was no communication about schedule changes. Out of nowhere, they added the Wicked cast to a dance recital 30+ minutes away and told the kids they'd only get a medal if they attended. Families had to sit through 4+ hours just to watch their kid perform one song--and pay $18 per ticket for it. The new location is a joke. Construction is still incomplete. They should have finished the facility before running programs--not oversold camps and shows they clearly aren't equipped to handle just to fund their own build-out. The show itself was disappointing. Tattered curtains safety-pinned to windows, dollar store tablecloths on the wall, elementary-level paper trees, and a cardboard box as Oz. No microphones, no PA system, no choreography--just a boombox. Seating was folding chairs; I had to stand in the back just to see my daughter. The lack of professionalism and creativity did not go unnoticed. This felt more like a cash grab than a performance. These kids worked hard and deserved so much better. We won't be back--and I hope others think twice before signing up.

There are high expectations placed on each dancer, but that is what is to be expected if you want to continue to improve and grow your Irish dance skills. These high expectations are what encourage myself and those I dance with to strive to be better than we were before. Coming to this school has helped me gain confidence, fitness, and friendships that I will cherish for a lifetime. This school encourages my love of Irish dance and it continues to grow with each class! P.S. Although this is a competitive Irish dance school, there are plenty of opportunities to also partake in performance Irish dance such as the yearly production of An Irish Nutcracker (my favorite time of the year!) or the SIDA Dance Company. I find that there is something for everyone!

Unfortunately, it's a constant revolving door at Shannon Irish Dance Academy, and all three of these things leave -- sooner than later. In comparison to all other studios in and around Metro Detroit, this studio grossly overcharges and intentionally locks families into mandatory practices, performances, and camps strictly as a money grab. Dancers and their families are expected to adhere to an exhausting and controlling 19 page contract of policies. I do not take great joy in posting this review, as I previously had high hopes for a lasting and positive experience for our family.

If you want to use the squat racks come anytime Sunday after 11. Saturday anytime after 12pm. Most evening nights are ok but it will be busier. If you go before 4pm you can get on anything. They redid the unisex hot sauna, which is nice and slightly bigger, had hoped for infrared but oh well it's still pretty good. The pool area in the summer is great, especially if you have kids. Many slides and types of pools to accommodate little and slightly older. The locker rooms are always kept up well (except during the summer, the family room is NOT kept up well at all...) The showers could be kept cleaner during peak times as well as the hot tubs (just this past year). The swim membership for a junior competing is kind of pricey, had to reduce that out of my package due to the price and unavailability to make it 2x due to my schedule. Overall, the equipment is usually maintained pretty well. I was disappointed when they removed quite a few of the bikes out of there, ultimately I just stopped biking as the recumbent bikes are absolute garbage. I do feel that this gym does need to update a lot of the equipment and utilize the space a bit more efficiently. Other than that, I consistently get a great work out with many modalities to choose from, in a nice setting with a couple days of the month that it's too busy for me but not enough to look elsewhere. I've had memberships at the other local big box gyms and they simply suck. Lifetime is the best within the area unless you want to have multiple small boutique gym memberships, if you don't want that, LT is the place.

After the scene she caused I left the club and the next morning the Shelby township manager called me and told my membership has been canceled. I got harassed and disrespected then banned just because Karen thinks this her parents club and she can tell anyone in there to shut up. Place is a joke they charge 180$ a month acting like its a country club yet they never bother replacing the old machines nor educate the employees on how to respectfully approach patrons.
