I wish I could give negative stars. This company is horrific. I have had multiple pieces of furniture completely ruined, irreplaceable, antiques completely broken and unable to be repaired. This was without question the worst moving experience I've ever had. I've used multiple movers in my personal life and as an interior designer for my clients. The manner in which my furnishings were treated, the money spent for moving and storage with this company; I truly could not be more unhappy, disappointed and candidly offended by the lack of customer care. read more

Quality customer service would mean fixing what you broke! I will do everything possible for people not to choose Planes. They don't and haven't taken responsibility for damaging my refrigerator. I'm still thinking about what do to next. They came into my home and with 3 guys couldn't get the refrigerator out of my house without causing damage to the front right door of the refrigerator. The movers didn't wrap it to protect it, they didn't take any precautions to protect the refrigerator. They were negligent in damaging my refrigerator. I mean the folks who actually moved us were cool. And all in all I'm grateful there was so little damage. It seemed to take a long time and there were periods of time where they were just standing around not really doing much. There were some fragile furniture pieces scratched during the move because things were not wrapped even after we confirmed that they would be. One of the movers asked to use the bathroom at my new house and asked for TP confirming that whatever happened in there warranted soap and water. Since there was no soap, he couldn't have washed his hands before going back to moving my things which was incredibly disturbing to me. They scratched paint off the wall and when they told me they said "it's no big deal just a little scratch!" After reassembling my bed at the new house there was squeaking and creaking that hadn't been there before. When I called the office to talk to them about all of this and a broken dish, they told me I'd run out of time to report it even though I was well within the time frame listed in the contract. read more

We were moved as part of a military subcontractor. They were late and slow. The packing was horrible and I had to instruct to repack. They didn't listen to what I wanted to leave and what I wanted to take. Light bulbs were packed with tools. Items were missing. Furniture was missing or damaged. Power cords still haven't been located for the sound bar, two gaming computers, snd a 65" tv. A gaming mic, key board, mouse, monitor, and head set are missing - valued at about $2,500!! A bench is missing. An antique head board and foot board, a kitchen aid stand mixer, a $1,500 piece of art work was not crated correctly and stuck to the cardboard AND they nailed the canvas to the crate frame!!! My daughter's mirror for her dresser was missing. A dollhouse given to me by my deceased Grandmother as a child is broken. Almost every box had a broken item and was mislabeled. Things that should be wrapped (like glass Galileo thermometer) were not wrapped but things like power strips were. Corrosive liquids were boxed with $1,500 camera lenses and $5,000 cameras. Several hundred dollars of makeup melted as it was not stored in a climate controlled facility. Prada purse is missing. They packed the actual purse I was using and I had no id, debit/credit card or car keys for nearly a month. Many items didn't have inventory stickers. This was the second time I have been moved and the relocation team used Planes. This was so easy. I did nothing. The packers showed up and had my house packed up within 3 hours. They also made up a box so I could spend the night in my bed and then just pack up the bedding for the movers. The movers were also exceptionally awesome. They showed up early and had everything disassembled and in the truck within 3 hours. At my new place, they had some issues (not their fault), still arrived and had my stuff in my house within 3 hours. Very, Very nice people and so efficient and professional. read more

When I moved from Northern California to Broad Ripple, IN, I contracted with United Van Lines to handle my move. Once my belongings made it to Indiana, Planes Moving & Storage was the company to deliver them to my home. Ray Perry (based out of OH I believe) and his assistant, Brandon, did a great job of handling my belongings with care and consideration. Except for a snafu when Ray went to turn the truck around and he broke down a half mile away, the delivery went smoothly. I was very impressed with Ray's assistant, Brandon. A hard working young man working the summers while he attends Perdue. This isn't an easy job and Brandon worked hard...doubt he has to go to the gym much in the summer with all the heavy lifting he does with this job :-) Overall, I was very pleased with United Van Lines contractors and would use them again. read more

It was very disappointing moving experience. I was moved by United from Michigan to Indiana (Planes) in 2015/2016 which was great experience. I trusted by experience and called Planes when I move back from Indiana to Michigan. This was my BIG MISTAKE. Sales person did not even told me that I have a delivery window (counselor told me 5 days window). Counselor told me that she will have the sales person to call me to explain. Of course, Sales person never called me. He was very unresponsive as soon as I signed the contract. When I ask counselor the contact information for their operation team to see if they can deliver my stuff on 6/22 (my original requested date), she told me that she cannot give me any contact information and I only have to talk to her. I felt like a I am a hostage. Delivery driver told me that he had no discussion about 6/22 delivery date until day before the moving (6/23). Looks like the counselor did not communicated with the driver for my original requested date. On the day of the moving, movers damaged my drywall when they move file cabinet to upstairs and they blame Planes moving crew for not shrink wrapping the file cabinet. Movers could not wait to leave so they just put the boxes wherever they want. Box says kitchen but they put it upstairs. Box says kids bedroom, they put it on kitchen..... Driver never counted the number for each box then ask me sign the document. Enough said. Stay away!!! read more

If I could give no stars I would. This move has been an absolute nightmare. Starting with the packing crew, who wouldn't even allow us on the same level they were packing, who labeled things broken that weren't, put a shot glass collection unwrapped in a metal pan, took a ridiculous amount of smoke breaks, among many other things. Our move specialist refused to talk to us, and when he did would only offer we'll just have to wait and see. To sending a truck with half the space needed for our stuff, then the over flow truck being over 2 hours late the next day. The movers dropped a fully loaded solid wood dresser weighing probably well over 300 lbs on the stair handrail, causing it to bend down almost and inch and the inspector was a joke and said they couldn't have possibly have done the damage, because he couldn't move it back into place, nevermind the hole in the wall were the screw was forced down and the bent metal brackets holding the whole thing apart. Of course they'll charge the big boy bucks to move yourself, but pretty much failed on every level of customer support, and dates things were supposed to be accomplished by. Give yourself piece of mind and use someone/anyone else. read more

We just completed our move from Indianapolis to Georgia. The movers, both at the start and at the finish, were professional, helpful, hard-working and respectful of our possessions. Ours was a difficult move, because my husband had a lot of big woodworking machines to move, but everything arrived on time and in perfect condition. Can I give these people negative stars! Planes Moving and Storage was horrific! Don't use them if you value your furniture. I chose to move forward with Planes Moving and Storage over other cheaper companies to move me from Indiana to Florida. I wrongly assumed that by paying a little extra my goods would be in better hands. Wrong! The movers in Indiana did a great job. However, somewhere between storage and transportation, things went terribly wrong. My Dresser, Sofa, Coffee Table and Chest was trashed. I also watched first hand the delivery movers drop boxes off the truck! I filed a claim with Planes, but no action was taken. Once they have your payment they are finished with you. Planes showed up very late, were tired and grumpy. Would not take several items, said there wasn't room. I was moving over 1000 miles so I had to leave them. 4 pieces of furniture damaged, plasma TV was stored horizontally. Several boxes busted open. Initially I thought that they were really good in that we were moved efficiently. However, the longer we are in our new home, the more damage I find to our furniture...or that furniture was not properly reassembled. Further the account rep was pretty useless. She made sure that they were paid prior to the move but was useless in the process. They refuse to cover items you pack yourself so if they are careless, it's your loss. We were pushed to give a good review...now I know why...they didn't want to find the damage first. I thought I was hiring a really professional group. I moved out of the country and Planes was not able to deliver within the contracted window. This cost me a lot of money and they offered nominal assistance. In addition, the mover advised that they would contact me about items damaged in transit and no one has ever done so in spite of the paperwork that was completed. Gross incompetence at every level. I engaged Planes to move me from Indianapolis to Santa Fe. I didn't expect much from them. The surprise was that they were so much worse. They define unprofessional and don't even understand 'customer service'. The concept of 'service recovery' is beyond them! If you value your belongings, run away from Planes as fast as you can. They broke the leg off of an antique chair and then said they weren't responsible because they claimed the chair had been damaged at one time and been repaired. My mother bought the chair from an antique store and the chair was moved to her house and then to mine with no problem. However, Planes moved the chair and obviously dropped it on it's leg and broke it. Now I have very useless damaged chair. They also damaged the wall in the house I moved out of but offered no compensation since I had closed on the house even though I had to repair their damage. read more

If you value your time, if your expectation is that your moving company communicates with you in a timely and honest manner, if you prefer not to waste your time, then Planes United Van Lines is NOT the moving company to choose. My husband was recently relocated from Atlanta to San Antonio and his company hired Planes United Van Lines to move our family. My husband was already working in San Antonio on the day of the pickup so I was left to meet with the movers in Atlanta, the movers didn't arrived until almost 11:30 AM and then tried to rush packing and loading our household goods, requiring me to follow them throughout the house to ensure they actually packed everything. In addition the driver of the truck made me feel uncomfortable by standing too close and following me around to "talk" to me, even as I tried to place distance between us by stepping backwards on several occasions. During our conversations with the Planes United Van Lines coordinator my husband and I had made it very clear that we wanted our delivery on the Thursday of the following week and the coordinator we were working with agreed to the delivery date. After the disappointing and unprofessional pick-up and packing, we shouldn't have been surprised when the coordinator called my husband at 4:00 PM on Wednesday and left a message on his cell phone to inform him that they wouldn't be making delivery until Saturday. We had already made arrangements with various contractors for installations and services based on the agreed upon Thursday delivery date, in addition my husband had taken two days off from work to help unpack, not to mention the family members in the area who were going to help us unpack as well. When my husband called and spoke with a supervisor to see if anything could be done to expedite the delivery, he was told that the creepy truck driver that wouldn't leave me alone had indicated that I had told him that we wanted our delivery on Saturday. Needless to say, this never occurred, and for a company to blatantly make up such a story and attempt to shift blame and cause a dispute between a husband and wife in this particularly stressful situation is unconscionable. To make matter worse, the supervisor assured my husband that they would make delivery on Saturday between 8:00AM and 9:00AM, and much to no one's surprise, they contacted us at 9:30AM on Saturday morning to inform us that the truck would not be arriving until sometime between 10:30AM and 12:30PM. Once again, we had to call the contractors who were scheduled to come out Saturday afternoon to uncrate paintings and TVs, and connect our Direct TV to reschedule, not to mention that we had to wait in an empty house for more than four hours on a Saturday morning. Since we have so much time to kill as we wait for the truck to arrive, I thought I would use the opportunity to warn others so that they would not have to go through the aggravation and wasted time and money we have. In the ten plus moves between us in our careers and of all of the movers we have used; Planes United Van Lines is the only one to failed on so many levels. Do yourself a favor and consider the services of any of the many professional movers instead of choosing Planes United Van Lines for your move. read more

I received excellent help with my two-part move. Part of my things went across town, and I shipped part to Montana, two very different moves! The two guys who packed up the Montana move were the same two who loaded, transported and unloaded to my new condo across town. They were careful with my possessions and most helpful placing things where I wanted them in my new place (and putting up with some of my indecision). Disgusted with United Planes! They tacked on hidden costs at the end of the move, damaged my furniture and then denied my damage claim. We contracted with Planes United Van Lines to handle our move from Carmel, IN to Fort Collins, CO - big mistake! The driver, from a different franchise of United in Denver, CO, showed up to inventory the move while the local packers were still packing and proceeded to get in the way of the packers, creating a very tense and awkward situation for us. Both were speaking to me about the other. REALLY? After loading, they decided that the truck was not big enough, so portion of my goods went into storage and was not delivered until 3 weeks later. Too bad for me! Our binding estimate stated to be ready to accept deliver between 2 different days. We were ready at 2 PM of the first day. Despite the fact that no where on the "Straight talk price assurance" contract does it state that I must be available at 8am on that day, Planes charged me for a "waiting fee" because the driver arrived at 8AM, and our closing was not done until after 10AM. An LED television was not crated, and when it was delivered with damage to the display, the claim was denied. They said they would pick up boxes for recycle a few days after deliver, but that is another fee. read more
