Nilijah, the owner, and A.J., who coordinates the details of each move were easy to reach and very responsive, answering questions I had in the weeks before the move with clarity, warmth, and good humor. On the day of the move, the young men working with Ballew came half an hour before Nilijah, who was driving the van. They set to work and had the furniture from my room completely wrapped and ready to load by the time he arrived. An estimated four-hour slot to load a large room and a storage unit in the basement took them less than two hours! I also asked them to wait on the interstate delivery for three days, in time for me to arrive at my destination. They agreed, and showed up exactly when they said they would, with the same wonderful crew. Again, it took less than two hours to unload a room of furniture and almost 150 boxes, this time at two different destinations. The crew were attentive to my requests as to where to place the complex collection of items, and before they left, they unwrapped each piece of furniture, taking the moving blankets and wrapping away with them. I couldn't be more pleased with the generous support, extremely fair pricing, careful handling, and the all-around great job the staff of Ballew Moving did. My only regret was that I had never met them before. We started as customer and movers, and ended as friends!

Unfortunately, they appeared to lack proper packing experience and training, and did not take the job seriously. Here are some of the key issues I observed: Unsealed bags and boxes were left on the floor. Pots and pans were left unpacked. I had to repeatedly instruct and correct their packing methods during the process. Clothes were placed haphazardly, with items like socks mixed in boxes with dishes--clearly unprofessional and careless. Bathroom and most kitchen items were left untouched. The owner later claimed this was due to DOT regulations, but since I only hired them for packing (not moving), that reasoning does not apply. I attempted to discuss these concerns and find a fair resolution with Dustin afterward, but he refused to make any accommodation. In summary: I would not recommend hiring this company for packing services, especially if Dustin is not personally on site. Once payment is made, it becomes difficult to obtain a fair resolution for poor workmanship.

We hired Soft Touch Moving in June 2025 to pack, move, and store our belongings in their…read more"climate-controlled" facility for four months while our new home was being built. About 4 hours into the re-delivery of our belongings by their crew, we discovered that much of our furniture and personal property which had already brought into our new home appeared to be covered in mold. The contamination affected our brand-new home and required professional remediation. As a result, we were displaced and forced to live in a hotel for 50 nights while the issue was addressed. The owner, John Craft, acknowledged to us that our belongings had gotten wet and remained on their moving trucks for a period of time during the hot and humid month of June. Despite assurances from the company's insurance carrier, we have received very little communication or resolution. More than seven months later, we still do not have our belongings and have had to retain legal counsel to pursue claims against both Soft Touch Moving and the insurance company. This experience has been incredibly disruptive to our lives. Based on our experience, we would strongly caution others before trusting this company with their belongings.

Only one service agreed to come to my home, which they did. But, they would not take anything that was not sealed completely. As a result, they took only the bags of clothing and a few pieces of furniture. The rest of my donations were offered up to my neighbors. What they didn't take went to the dumpster. I can't understand why places advertise free pick-up then refuse for any of a number of petty reasons. My experience using Yelp is negative.
