Ordered a medium rare to rare take out hamburger with sweet french fries yesterday. The bartender warned me that he didn't run the kitchen which should have been my first clue. Unfortunately I didn't check the order before I took it out or I would have returned it. The hamburger was well done to the point that I didn't actually finish eating it and the sweet fries were on the soft side. I've had decent take outs before and may give PJ another chance in a month or two when I mellow, but if they repeat - - I'm outta here! read more

We love, love, love this place. The food is amazing and the service is great, too! They have a wonderful variety of home-made dishes. Soups are fresh and made on site, so if you enjoy a really good home-made soup in the winter, they have many choices. I especially love that they always have a really good fresh vegetable on the menu. I have had roasted brussels sprouts there several times, but have even had roasted acorn squash. They also have wonderful dinners. Their short-rib is better than the one I make at home! My husband loves their seafood dishes and the fresh pasta is always a great choice. They have pizza and sandwiches, too. I particularly love their clams Portugese appetizer. I often order it as my entree- it comes with a fantastic, fluffy pita- not the dried out kind you get in the stores. Also, PJ's was exceptionally good to us and our out-of-town wedding guests. Approximately seventy of our guests converged on them at multiple times over our wedding weekend (including allowing us to take over the bar for a welcome evening for the out of towners). PJ's food earned rave reviews from everyone, but it was their staff who especially deserve kudos. They could not have been kinder or more helpful. And, I'm sure that we were not the easiest group, as there were a lot of us and probably 80% of our out of town guests were in the restaurant industry. They never lost patience and showed everyone the same great attention throughout the whole weekend! Thank you PJ's for being a great local business! read more

I have gone to PJ's for a couple years and have gown up in Narragansett. Long story short I visit the bar the day after my 22nd birthday and ordered a beer as a night cap, then 2 minutes later the short blonde haired bartender revoked my beer and ID saying that "your ID is a fake." After a short conversation in which I explained that I've been served there for the last year every time I've came in, she told me that "I was embarrassing myself", which was a rude way of telling me she didn't believe my ID was real. I am appalled that this incident happened at one of my favorite local bars, but if this can happen to a local resident it may happen to any other patron younger than 40 and shows a major lapse in professionalism. Falsely embarrassing a customer is this small town bars worst mistakes. The fake blonde, short haired bartenders remakes makes me not want to associate with PJ's pub any longer. I've never posted a review on yelp, but hopefully this opens the public's eye to how disrespectful they are as an establishment. read more

My wife & I were there 9/29/13-10/2/13 and had the opportunity to eat here 2 times. Our service/food/atmosphere was great. Can't see any one writing a bad review about Pj's pub. Food was very good, and you were eating off a real plate, no styrofoam or plastic. 2 thumbs up from my wife & myself. Kurt. read more

PJ's Pub is true to it's name in offering a pub like atmosphere. The environment is welcoming and relaxed. There is formal seating as well as a bar area with high tables so you have a choice of a dining modes. Pete (the owner) did a nice job of renovating the old Terminisi's for those remembering spots from URI days past. The food is very good and well priced providing good value for the money. I particularly like PJ's because they tend to offer a nice selection of fish dishes along with other fare. Particularly like the Greek Calamari as an appetizer. Good balance for many palettes. Good selection of beers on tap and wines. Staff has always been friendly. I was surprised to see PJ's wasn't highlighted on Yelp! so thought I'd start an entry. Check it out and please add your thoughts. Hope your experience is good. read more

Do not get the lobster roll... it's only 3 oz which didn't even fill the roll for $19.99. The waitress said that is the standard amount that they put in... which is fine but should be disclosed. Truly more bread than lobster read more

Lived in town 7 years (not full time yet) and I have never been to PJs pub. We always thought it was where people went when they were tired of waiting to get into Crazy Burger (which we love). On 4th of the July week we went to PJs and found every meal to be fresh and delicious. It's not very expensive and goes beyond pub fare. The salmon was delicious and we had a caesar salad which was also crisp and fresh. I'm sad we didn't try this place sooner. Waitress and staff were all very nice. We will be back. read more

We've been to PJ's Pub twice. The food was excellent, as was the selection and price. They have a great Martini menu, too. I highly recommend PJ's Pub read more

The old menu was much, much better than the new menu. They took a lot of great items off the menu, and this is where they went wrong. It's too bad. They used to have great salads and pizza too. The best salad from the old menu is gone now and the pizza recipe has changed ... And not for the better. Pizza is now borderline inedible. The only new items on the menu worth eating are the lettuce wraps, but they're not worth the loss of so many of the other great menu items that they used to have. PJ's used to be a good go-to place for some quick, quality pub style food and pizza. But with so many other great eateries in the area, unfortunately I'm going to have to eighty-six PJ's from my dining rotation, as we say in the restaurant biz. read more

My husband and I ate at PJ's Pub and had a great dinner date. What is surprising is that every table was taken. Even with a full house, service was OUTSTANDING, food came out quickly and was really tasty, and my honey and I could still converse in a normal voice. The manager was making his rounds to ensure all his patrons were happy, and the servers, though busy, also seemed happy in their work. This is a place that may get lost in the long list of "where should we go for dinner" possibilities, but it shouldn't! It was a winner, and we will be returning. read more

Thank you to PJ's and especially to our waitress, Kayla for accommodating myself and 13 friends tonight on such short notice! We had a great experience! read more

We were in Narragansett a couple of weeks ago for a week's vacation - and we had NEVER been to PJ's Pub!! It's just around the corner from where we stay in the summertime. We were planning to go to Markos' but they had moved away :-( - Crazy Burger is just CRAZY busy - so we actually ended up at PJ's by default. WELL, we were so very pleasantly surprised with PJ's. It was my once a summer time to get fried clams, and these did not disappoint. Whole fat belly clams, deep fried in a light batter and served with homemade french fries (and something else, but I'm writing about the important stuff!!) were to die for. I was more than pleased with my dinner, and the wait staff was oh so efficient and friendly. Initially my clams arrived not as hot as I would like and I hailed down the waitress. She whisked them away and whisked back some piping hot fresh clams. THEN the owner's son/chef ambled over and apologized to me for the temperature of the first order. I was blown away. My hubby had fish and chips and he was very pleased as well. (He does't rave a lot, so if he doesn't complain I always assume it's good.) Convenient and delicious as PJ's was for us, we went back yet another night. This time I had linguine with white clam sauce. This delicious dish was packed with delicious perfectly cooked steamed clams on top of a heaping helping of linguine with yet more clams incorporated into the sauce. I ate every single bite on my plate (I was a piggy that week). My husband had a plain old burger with fries and a salad, and again, no complaints from this guy (so assume it was excellent!!). I am extremely happy with PJ;s Pub. It does what it does, well, and I have no complaints. I am only leaving off a star because of the first helping of room temperature clams. I really did like this place. I tend to get overzealous when I really like a place, and don't want to go overboard and tell you this is haute cuisine or gourmet gourmet. It is simply a fine pub, with better than pub food, good drinks, good service, and a really friendly vibe. I will definitely always go back there whenever I am in Narragansett for an extended period (like a week) and I might even give it five stars next time. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - I don't think you can wrong at PJ's Pub. xxxxx read more

Great value for good food. Pasta dishes are excellent. Very friendly staff. Love the fall comfort food menu.

had an excellent fish sandwich (comes fried or baked - I got the baked and it was a great low fat, satisfying option). Service was great and was a fun place for a large group. read more

I am a bit torn about PJ's Pub. The service is good. The staff are nice and the atmosphere is calm and welcoming. My issue is the food. There are dishes that are very heavy, like spanakopita or a calzone, but you know that a dish like this is going to be heavy. What you don't expect is a salmon dish with broccoli to make you fill as full as spanakopita. I have been to this place twice and I keep wondering what goes into the food because there seems to be a "heaviness" to the food and a lack of seasoning; by far the most bland spanakopita I have had, which is strange because spanakopita doesn't require a lot of ingredients to make right. The food just seems average in taste. The food doesn't suck or isn't amazing. The food isn't that worthy of talking about. If you need a drink and a place to hangout for an hour then this is not that bad of a place. If you want a drink, food, and a place to hangout with friends then there are far better places. read more

Had dinner here while visiting with Mum. Server was very friendly and helpful. The 'cheesy bread' toasts delivered as the bread basket were close to addictive. Hubby had a Buffalo chicken pasta and I had their signature lasagna, both of which were solid pub fare. Mum had the pot roast special with taters and spaghetti squash spiced with brown sugar and cinnamon (an inspired combo), the hands down favorite dinner of the night. Will return. read more

A gem of a restaurant. Great upbeat atmosphere, super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Hamburger's are one of the best and all fish dinner's are delicious. The daily special's are very creative and always delicious. And the pizza's are great. One of my favorite restaurants in Narragansett. read more

Been coming to PJ's for years. It's the best! The menu is awesome, with many choices, from pub style to really good seafood. Recently, they have added some Tex-Mex to their daily specials that trump the best of San Antonio. I challenge anyone to find a better home made salsa. And only the staff rivals the menu. I have never encountered anything other than a friendly and accommodating waiter/waitress, and the manager (Nicole) and regular barkeeper (Erin) are in a class of their own. So many times I have seen Nicole manage those "challenging customers" with professional delicacy, and Erin makes every customer feel like they're her top priority. You can't go wrong stopping by. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in south county. Fell upon it a few years ago and continue to still go. The food is very great, never had a bad meal and the service is always good. read more

My wife and I both had bad meals. Overcooked steak tips for me and fatty uneatable ribeye for my wife. The waitress never asked about how it was and we were starving so we didn't send it back. The manager wasn't professional enough to even speak to us. All we got was profuse apologies from the waitress. Look around before coming here. We won't be back. read more

We are from Connecticut and this is our "go-to" pub for good atmosphere, food, accommodating requests to the chef and usually a table visit from the owner. The servers are always tops and professional. We have always enjoyed the menu changes and additions over the years. We have never been disappointed. The price point is very reasonable. Food quality even late at night has been good! Always eat in the bar area which is never noisy- someday I will try the dining area! Hats off to the owner, manager, bartenders and service staff. ~Carters Connecticut read more

This was the most appalling restaurant experience I have ever had. My family (husband and 3 small children) and I came into town for the evening as I was running a marathon the next morning and was looking for a nice pasta dish. We ordered our food and mine came out and was completely not what I ordered. It was a creamy alfredo dish - I couldn't even see the pasta there was so much cream sauce. I politely told the waitress that I ordered the Greek pasta and she said, oh I'm sorry, I wrote down the chicken broccoli alfredo. I asked her to take it back and bring out what I ordered. She came back with the same dish and said the OWNER said I would have to pay for the dish I didn't order as well as the dish that I wanted. I was dumbfounded. My husband and I asked very nicely to talk to the owner. The waitress came back to tell us that he said he is too busy and couldn't come out. He wouldn't even come out to talk to us. There were about 4 tables in the whole restaurant that were filled - not busy at all in the restaurant. We got the check and left. I would never go back or recommend anyone to go there. Even if the management wasn't horrible, the food that we got was mediocre and I would not go back. I left there having paid $15 for a pasta that I didn't want and having to run a marathon the next morning. Not a good experience to say the least. Stay away. read more

We stayed near PJ's and decided to give it a try for dinner. We thought the staff was very pleasant and friendly. The food was pretty good there were lots of choices, my husband was a little disappointed they had corn beef and cabbage advertised on the tables but weren't serving until 2 days later. Other than that we had a nice time it was a comfortable place we enjoyed it. read more

Went to PJ's Pub for the first time on Saturday night with my husband. I am sure I am the unruly customer mentioned in the previous review. We sat at the bar and the servers were attentive and gracious. I ordered from the Gourmet Sandwich & Wraps Section - $10.99. Menu states served with choice of fries, onion rings, side salad, cole slaw or pasta salad. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken sandwich with a side salad. My husband ordered a burger with fries. The food was good and we even commented that we would visit this restaurant again. We just purchased a home in Narragansett and dine out often so it is always important to find local restaurants which we can visit frequently. When the billed arrived there was a charge for $1.99 for a side salad. My husband questioned our server and she said that she was told that she now has to charge for the side salad. The menu clearly stated that it was an option with the sandwich with no mention of an upcharge. She did say that she has heard a lot of complaints about this and asked if we wanted to talk to the manager. This is when we got to meet Nicole, the manager. She was ready for battle when she approached us. She was rude and condescending. She told us to look a couple of pages back in the menu at the bottom on the page in small print where it states "prices are subject to change without notice." We tried to explain to her that the menu is clearly written what is included with the sandwich for $10.99 and that the server should let a customer know if a change has been made when ordering. She just kept arguing that the menu states "prices subject to change" and flipping the menu back to the page. We just couldn't believe the attitude and argumentative behavior she was displaying as a manager over a $1.99 charge. It wasn't about the money at all to us, we just wanted to know why there was an extra charge. Well, that $1.99 just cost this restaurant a lot more money in the long run. Needless to say we will not be visiting this establishment again or recommending it to friends and family. The server received her 20% tip because she deserved it. But, Buyer Beware, you better ask what the current prices are when you order because what is printed on the menu may not be the same as what is printed on your bill. read more

My food was good , however 2 people in our party of 10 had issues with their meal... One ordered medium/ well steak and the steak was as red as could be.... It was brought back to the kitchen and we actually needed it wrapped as a to go meal because it took so long to "cook it more"; another person in our party had a very fatty piece of meat to the point where it needed to be returned and the manager argued with us about how much of it was actually eaten rather than try to remedy the situation. We have 2 houses in the area and will never return to this establishment nor recommend it to anyone. There are many other places in Narragansett to eat at. The waitstaff was good, but the manager was argumentative instead of trying to resolve our complaints, and this disappointed us. The fatty meat was eventually taken off the bill but it was after requesting to see the owner and being refused and being told we had to pay for it because "some was eaten". Save your money and go somewhere else.... Plenty of other restaurants to choose from in the area... read more
