Omg so bad!! Been here before and had good experience but last night was BAD. Food and service just not good. Got two round of drinks (wanted more but not possible) and each one took 20 to 30 minutes to come out. The second round was wrong and I got the wrong drink so I had to wait another 15 minutes to get the right one. Food was just average at best. I got the reuben and the meat was tough! Decided to try another new to us place on this Newport trip! We sat at the bar for dinner. Small place, awesome decor, good vibe. We started with the scotch egg-- this was awesome! Well worth the try. I had the Reuben, labeled as the best seller-- SO disappointed. Couldn't even eat this properly because the bottom bread was totally soaked through (I'm guessing it was sitting too long before being served). I ate what I could but the experience was not what I hoped for. Hubs had the cottage pie, he enjoyed it. With so many other choices, will go elsewhere in town. read more

If you're looking for a typical bar atmosphere, congratulations--you've found it. Dim lights, random sticky spot on the floor, and a vibe that says "I make questionable choices but have fun doing it." We went on open mic night, which... listen. I love enthusiasm, I do. But some of those performances felt like they were summoned by a YouTube tutorial titled "How Not To Sing." Bless their hearts for trying though. The servers were decent--ehhh not overly friendly, not rude, just perfectly neutral, like they were programmed with three customer-service phrases and stuck to them. Honestly? Respect. Only downside: the bill and the credit card charges weren't twins. They weren't even cousins. More like distant strangers who met on the bus. Buskers is a staple on our Winter Newport Run. Entering the old building off the cobblestones of Thames Street gets you ready. Inside you could easily believe to were transported to Anytown Pub in Ireland. The staff is always friendly, on our afternoon swing through we caught a great little Trad group who played quietly in the corner. Our swing back at night had a one man guitar band. Both were lots of fun. Drinks are always good including perfectly poured pints. The food is said to be good. I know it's good. And it surprises me how good it is every time. Recently enjoyed lunch with friends. We picked the venue to celebrate and have Irish fare. Food was very good. Ordered scotch eggs for an app. That was good. Ordered the Reuben sandwich and was served with real corned beef not the deli style meat. Good size sandwich and fries accompaniment. Actually two of us split the scotch eggs and the Reuben sandwich and it was more than enough. Definitely worth the visit. Staff was friendly. Would recommend. read more

In town from Long Island with my wife who was born in Newport . I always look forward to visiting. We've been to Buskers several times over the years. This is a classic Irish bar with quality food. What I love about this place is that it is a classic Irish pub with a Twist. The food is actually very good. They have a very nice selection of Irish whiskey, as well as a good beer selection. The bartenders here are friendly and make a quality drink. I went with a classic old-fashioned, which was made exactly as it should be. My wife had a drink called the tropical relief. This drink contained rum, vodka, pineapple. It was a very summer like drink, on an otherwise freezing cold evening. They have an extensive menu featuring Irish foods as well as burgers. For the appetizer, we had the potato skins. They say on the menu that they have corned beef in them. I would say the corned beef was a little lacking. Otherwise, they were very tasty. For dinner, I went with the beef stew. I would definitely give this dish an A It was flavorful and the meat was very tender. Clearly, the chef knows what he's doing in the kitchen. My wife, who tends to order from the kids menu at times ordered the chicken fingers. She said they were good but a little bit dry. Of note is the house made peach jalapeño wings sauce. I snagged a piece of her chicken and dipped it in the sauce, which I found to be really tasty and different. Buskers is definitely one of those comfortable places where you can belly up to the bar have some quality drinks and spend a few hours. If you want to go to an Irish bar without leaving Newport, this is the place. Live music starting around 9:30 on saturdays, good food, and cold beer. Never too crazy with populous unless it's st Patrick's day. Came on a Saturday night and was able to find a spot at the bar. It was nice that domestic beers were bottle/can only and foreign beers were the ones on draft. Excellent whisk(e)y selection and the vibes are cozy no matter the time of year. This Texas boy ate there 3 times in 3 days at the end of September. The reason...damn good Irish fare. I've spent a month in Ireland and covered most of the Emerald Isle. A nice little Irish pub in Newport. The atmosphere was perfect Irish pub. Old brick building with tons of advertising, police and fire patches and all things Guinness! It has an enormous bar and a very laid back feel. We stopped for lunch and had fish and chips and a brunch breakfast sandwich. The fish and chips were fantastic!! Crispy and the white fish was super soft and flakey! Very fresh! The fries were soft rectangles of potatoes not crispy but a great potato bite and tastes. The breakfast sandwich had eggs, rashers (bacon), bangers (Irish sausage) and cheese on a brioche bun. Bun was super soft and the flavors were excellent! Could have used a little more spice in the bangers but still a really excellent combination. The service was good though I did go for a long time with an empty glass. Hidden gem on Thames. Went here with an open mind to explore the Saturday brunch menu. What a great choice! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming -as is the service. I enjoyed a FANTASTIC eggs Benedict with a side of bangers. Hot, fresh and served with smiling hospitality. So many classic dishes to choose from along with a variety of sandwiches and of course, fish and chips. All priced way below Newport prices. My wife and I were hoping to check out Brick Alley Pub but they had an hour wait to be seated. We had passed this place several times since it was near our lodging. My wife and I enjoy Irish pubs so we decided to stop in. We were seated right away and the host was friendly. I forget which beer I ordered I decided to try out their Guinness burger, which came with fries on the side. I asked for it to be cooked medium rare. I thought it was unique that it was served on an English muffin, especially in an Irish pub. The food came out after a brief wait. The burger was over cooked and did not have much flavor. It was average. Not sure how they prepared fries, but they were subpar. They were not crisp at all, just soft. The bar itself is really nice and stocked to the brim with all kinds of booze. I feel like Buskers is an... experience? They don't need your reviews (hence why they don't respond here) and they don't really NEED to provide good service, because like... it's always crowded. They don't need your money! The food is OK/generally fine. I was surprised that the wait staff weren't as friendly as most in the area. The wait times were abysmal considering the place was kind of empty. The food was nothing to write home about. I think what this place has going for it is the vibe. I can see this being a fun place to watch a game, if you eat no food and are drunk enough to enjoy it. But for a meal? Skip it, you're good. After a longer than expected day of walking around Newport (we accidentally did the full Cliff Walk--whoops), we were in major need of a hearty meal and stumbled in Buskers. There was no wait when we arrived and were sat at a table a bit away from other people. We were the only people wearing masks. The place had a lot of energy but wasn't too crowded. It seems like it would be a great spot to hang out after work or on a weekend to watch a game. Parking on the street is pretty sparse as it's a popular part of town, so be prepared to circle the block or hike a bit. I love an Irish pub, and Buskers makes you feel at home. We split some boxties (basically Irish latkes), which really hit the spot. For dinner, I got a fish and chips and a Magner's because I think it's the law that someone in your party gets fish and chips. I thought the fish and chips were well made, albeit a little too greasy, and by the end the fish was really falling apart. The tartar sauce was also great, very tangy. My partner got the full Irish and loved it, particularly the blood sausage. While I'm not one for offal, I was happy that a place in Rhode Island had such traditional offerings. By the end, we were full, but I was very tempted by the dessert menu. They were out of the bread pudding that I would have ordered, so we skipped dessert. Our server was bubbly and friendly and was a pleasure to talk to. She clearly loved connecting with her customers. She also made sure we always had plenty of water. First time to this area. Checked into our hotel late so our first stop would be the closest food/drink place to us. It's a small quaint place with a one man band. Had a couple drinks to start than the clam chowder and of course a Rueben sandwich. I loved the chowder, the husband thought it was too salty. Fries are "Buskers" fries ( fat square fries) that as a fry lover is in love with! Got the house fav Rueben, with crispy marble rye, dressing, think layer of sour kraut and cheese. The meat was thick and tender. Over all a great meal. Best ever? Close but no. Still a top notch place to eat and enjoy good music. Small seating area but it also has two stories of seating. Was told it's quieter upstairs if you prefer that. Would 100% stop by again when we come back to the area. read more
