It's the kind of place where you go when you are completely obliterated and need that relatively quick hunger fix. And hey, why not pick up another twelve pack while you're there? Sure there's better food out there, but who wants to make any kind of decisions after a long night of drinking? These guys have the perfect solution. Let's cram it all on one big ol' sandwich (or wrap, but don't think that's even putting a dent in the calories) and serve it to the drunk masses. Personally, I think PJ's is the bomb. It's definitely a guilty pleasure that should be enjoyed in extreme moderation. Their fat sandwiches are packed full of goodies and are fairly cheap. My personal favorite? The fat bitch. It's packed with buffalo chicken strips, mac'n'cheese bites, beer fries, cheese sticks, and smothered with ranch dressing. If eaten drunk, you won't even notice the toll taken on your body. It'll just be a part of the hangover. But be warned. If eaten sober, be prepared for a nuclear explosion in your stomach followed by a morning of "nuclear fallout". PJ's is a no nonsense sandwich counter across from one of the largest bars in town and where crowds empty out of the Shoe. Fat Sandwich: I don't recall the name of the sandwich I ordered. It was the fat something or other. But there were large chicken tenders drenched with a Buffalo mayo sauce. There are also really good crispy fries and a little bit too much fried mac and cheese. The bread roll is soft and tasty, more than capable of sustaining all the meaty and saucy options that PJ's offers. Yes, the one who used to deliver to your dorm. You can buy nicotine and liquor of course, but they don't have a license to consume. I asked my 23yo daughter who had the best potato skins in Columbus because I'm a straight potato skin junkie and wanted to try a new spot. She then proceeded to tell me I should try pj's grill skins so after a couple days I remembered her saying this place and decided to head 15 min to campus and give it a go. So as I walked in I say to the cashier guy " I heard you guys have the best potato skins in town" (with a smile) and his face looked shocked aS if this was news to him. And after maybe 5-6 seconds of awkward silence his reply was "hey, when your hungry, all food is good" I preceded to order not 1 but multiple orders of skins but in the back of my mind thinking- "this dude never really confirmed or denied whether these things are good or not lol" but hey! I'm here now. After maybe 10 minutes food is ready to go. I pay and get to my car with my mouth watering to open the box and see potato skins with nacho cheese & salad bacon bits on them. Now I would not be giving this place bad reviews and low stars because of what the food tasted like because I took one look at them and refused to even try them. I am A real potato skin lover and only others that understand me understand why potato skins with liquid cheese and hard bacon bit shakes are not....... It's not called "Home of the Drunks" for no reason. If you don't have a jaded memory of you here after a long night of partying, did you ever *really* go to Ohio State? Regardless, their food is always balling. A lot of people will be quick to complain it's kind of pricey, but each sandwich is a meal in itself. The Fat Bitch literally had fries and chicken on it; that's an ENTIRE meal! I also love their breakfast sandwich (Fat Booty). The sauce on it is top tier. My only complaint is that there's one guy who works the counter who can be rather short with you if you're unsure of what you want. I actually came here sober today though, and all in all it wasn't too bad (although it WOULD be amazing when drunk). I ordered the "fat cheese" which had chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, ravioli, marinara, and shredded cheese. I was kinda skeptical at paying $8 for a sandwich that probably wouldn't be of that high quality, but it was huge! They are fat sandwiches in size and ingredients. Honestly, it tasted pretty good too. I mean if you just through a bunch of average food in the deep fryer and cover it with marinara and a ton of cheese you can't really screw it up too badly. Everything was hot, and they didn't skip on any of the items, so I was happy. On the downside, the cashier wasn't all that kind..I would imagine dealing with 95% drunk people in person and on the phone could do that to you though. The worst part was the wait.. my sandwich took over 20 minutes to come out from when I order. If I was drunk I definitely would not have wanted to wait that long for my hunger to be subdued! Pjs food is fine. But whenever you order from them, expect to add anywhere from an hour or two to your delivery. Call them 10 minutes after you order and they will say 15-20 minutes. Call them an hour later and get the same response. They stay open late, but whether they are short staffed or the workers are lazy you won't get your food until AT LEAST an hour after your estimation. read more

PJ's is basically another sloppy sandwich place on campus that stays open and delivers to god early hours of the morning. The food is probably not worthy of the 3 stars rating, but I have to give the extra star for the originality of the menu. They are one of the first in the campus area to take anything you can think of and pile it on a bun with four other ingredients that should never be put together in sandwich form. They call them the Fat Sandwichs, and rightfully so. Cheese steak, eggs and onion rings - Fat Beast. Buffalo tenders, french fries, bacon, mozzarella sticks and ranch - fat Carnie. Nothing in the kitchen is off limits, either. J. poppers, potato skins, mini corn dogs, macaroni.... in various combos. I have actually tried many of these, and usually regret it but love it at the same time. The delivery service has always been fast and friendly. This place is in the university district and full of college kids. Like most of the other reviews it's true that they are drunk and obnoxious. We were looking for a place that was open late and the menu looking interesting. Some of the combination of ingredients is extreme but if you're drunk it all sounds like a good idea. The food is vey good and the portions are huge. So dealing with some stumbling twenty year olds didn't bother me at that point. If nothing else it's definitely a place to try just you say you did. Of course, the true gastronomic genius behind PJ's is their trademark fat sandwiches. Some are just as bad as they sound, and the trial and error can be rough. But when you find the one for you, it's like Romeo meeting Juliet. My doomed love affair begins with the Fat Cuban. It's an unruly explosion of grilled ham, salami and swiss cheese, with pickles, potato skins, onion rings, and a gooey mustard-mayo topping. Opt for the bun, not the wrap, there's no turning back now. My husband usually answers the siren song of the ironically named Skinny Boy Platter, a selection of chicken tenders, mac & cheese wedges, mozzarella sticks and french fries, served with honey mustard and their signature "high sauce" (ranch dressing, ketchup, and hot sauce). Unsatisfied with that? Make your own appetizer platter for 1/2 price an item! I recommend the munchies or the loaded nachos. And don't be fooled by the lettuce and diced tomato, the cheese sauce and chili ensures that they're plenty bad for you. The variety of available junk food is ponderous. Cheesesteaks, cheeseburgers, cheese sticks. Chicken fingers, popcorn chicken, boneless AND buffalo wings with your choice of eight sticky sauces. Not enough choices or calories for you? Add one of the eleven styles of french fries. If you're insane, you can even add a slice of cheesecake or a milkshake to this debauchery. And YES, they'll sell you beer and cigarettes. Only in a college town could a place like PJ's exist. Scratch that- only in a college town in the Midwest could a place like PJ's exist. When I'm traveling to other parts of the country and am having a hard time capturing the gestalt of life as an OSU student in 10 words or less, only one place comes to mind, and that's this utterly lowbrow tribute to the debauched excess of an Ohio State undergrad. For starters, this place is rarely open before 4 pm. I'm not sure who they think they're kidding even being open that early. Unless you're the kind of person (namely, an alcoholic) that starts drinking as soon as they roll out of bed around 2 PM, I can't see the point of PJ's opening before at least midnight. I wouldn't dare cross paths with the kind of person that would eat this food before then, sober or not. The term "drunk food" is not to be taken lightly when dealing with this establishment. Imagine all the food you loved when you were ten years old, be it chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, mushroom poppers, french fries, scrambled eggs, etc. Now deep fry it, throw it on a bun, and cover it in ranch dressing. This, my friend, is the legendary "Fat Sandwich" from PJ's. If you ran through the streets of San Francisco with one of these things, you'd likely get tacked and put in jail. But the fun (and your evening of self-destruction, for that matter) doesn't end there. Would you like Phillies,, malt liquor, or a mini bottle of Southern Comfort with that? No? Perhaps a loose cigarette or two? PJ's got ya' covered! What better than a 40 of Olde English to wash down the shame of what you just ingested? How about a bottle of Maalox instead? I'm just as intrigued as to what a buffalo wing-jalapeno popper-gyro meat & scrambled egg with mayo on white might taste like as the next guy, but I'd just as soon borrow a homeless person's toothbrush as I'd think of cramming that down my gullet. Located conveniently across Our 'R Inn, a place that's almost impossible to leave with your sobriety (or dignity) in tact, it's hard for the steady stream of coeds making their walk home from a long night of binge drinking to resist the smell of chicken grease and Camel Lights wafting out of the front door. Like the proceedings at Out 'R Inn on a Sunday or Monday night, hobbling in to PJ's to wait 30 minutes for a sandwich that will take at least thirty days off your life span is an essential rite of passage for any OSU student. This place is literally great 100 percent of the time. As a person who works late in the bar/restaurant industry, I love being able to order something late. Most times it's the only place open after I get off. You guys have no idea how thankful I am for not having to make food after serving it all day, getting home, ordering some super delicious nonsense, scarfing it done, and passing out immediately after- with enough time to sleep and do a clopen the next day. Wow! My boyfriend got the idea of cheesesteaks in my head the other day,and it had been a hot minute since I've had one. Well, we were walking home tonight and noticed this spot,so we grabbed a menu, it looked pretty hefty,but they had cheesesteaks! So he ordered two cheesesteaks while I took the dogs out,and he said it would be an hour for delivery. No bigs, its Saturday night and they deliver until 1 AM,which is awesome. PJ's is nothing short of disgusting. I made the mistake of eating here twice, once drunk and once sober. I am guessing you must have to be blacked out to enjoy this stuff because it is terrible. The absolutely bizarre menu items should have probably been a red flag but people swear by this stuff so I had to try it out. Simply put, the food is drenched in disgusting grease. The Place: a carryout with a few tables & chairs. Coolers line the walls - they're filled with natty light, Gatorade and soda. Menus hang near the ceiling behind the counter. The Food: OH MY GOD HUGE SANDWICHES. Why would you come here if not to eat these crazy, gut-busting, ode-to-obesity, disgusting sandwiches? Yeah I said it ... they're disgusting. That is, they're disgusting when you're sober. BUT OH MAN what about when you're stomach is already 75% PBR? Oh yeah ... then it's delicious. Basically add all the drunk-food you love (chicken fingers, burger patties, fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks ... basically anything that's horrible for you) and slap them on ONE SANDWICH. Add some sauce, perhaps, and then EAT. That's the PJ's system. This food is meant to be eaten while drunk, and if that's how you take it on, then you'll love every bite, guaranteed. I guess I should mention that they've got other food here: burgers, appetizers, wings, gyros, etc. I'd personally never come here for anything but a FAT sandwich. The Drinks: tons of stuff. Soda-pop, beer, juice, Gatorade -- all that jazz. The Price: I don't recall specific prices, but they're reasonable as I recall. The Service: orders are taken quickly, and the foods is prepped at a fair clip. No complaints. The Crowd: university kids. They're drunk and a bit rowdy, but as long as you're drunk and rowdy too it won't bother you. Overall: I'm not drunk right now, so it's hard to write this review. Not bad So today I decided to try out Grubhub to have something delivered to my job. PJ's Grill I had heard about before being so close to campus, but the Grubhub logo for it tricked me! I thought it may have been a different place so I placed my online order. I went for wings (garlic if they could make it not hot garlic or bbq) and pizza fries. The food was delivered super hot (thanks Grubhub) and I went to my break area to eat. I'm not sure why I got pizza fries since i don't like the sweetness of pizza sauce on my french fries but they weren't bad. The wings were bbq so I guess they could not un-hot the garlic ones. The bbq ones were hot and had flavor. They also had spice so i had to eat slowly. Nothing about the food was bad, nohing was spectacular. Middle of the road. read more

It's best not to try and pretend it's supposed to be gourmet or that it's not supposed to have 4000 calories per sandwich. I have many a wonderful Ohio State undergrad memory at our wonderful little sandwich shop. In fact, I have wanted to eat here before the place was open! PJ's has everything--either on a sandwich or off--and it's made fresh to order. The O-Rings are actually not that bad. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a place I would recommend bringing a date to or anything like that, but it's definitely a fun place to go at 2:30 am when everyone else at Ohio State is there too. You may feel gross after you've eaten it, but you'd feel just as gross the next day thinking about how much beer you had to drink or the fight you almost got in walking home from-barf-the Nuthouse. This would really be a two-star review, but I'm giving them another for the sheer ballsiness of inventing a new, mildly insane, genre of sandwich; one which has spread to seemingly every cheap pizza or chicken place between 11th and Hudson. Yeah, the Fat Sandwiches are basically all the appetizers you can get off of a foodservice truck deep-fried and thrown on a bun, but it somehow works really well when you are a within a specific level of inebriation that I like to call "the Belushi Zone." PJ's is a savior in the midst of the night. Sure sure people say it is for all the drunks, in fact their motto is home of the drunks but, but I frequent PJ's often sotally tober. As the reviews before me have stated PJ's is not for the faint of heart, and could quite possibly kill you but in my opinion it is worth it. If we can't live a life where it is acceptable to eat 5 fried items on a bun drenched with sauces what kind of life are we living? My personal favorite item to order is the "Fat Mystery" this sandwich is a gamble ever time but out of the 15 or so I've had only 1 or 2 were sub par. All however left me with a satisfaction smile across my face as I lean back in my chair and soak it all in. As far as college experiences go PJ's is at the top of the list and whoever is visiting: brother, sister, girl friend, dad, mom, grand-ma, grand-pa should all experience it. I tried this place out to see how it compared with other campus favorites. Admittedly, I was not drunk so I may not have experienced it fully but it was a Friday night. It took almost 20 minutes to get two sandwiches and fries despite only having 6 people in the place. The sandwiches were good but not great. Fries were soggy. PJ's has got to serve the king of crappy drunk people food. It's strategically placed directly across from Out R Inn, one of the more popular bars in the OSU campus area. It was no coincidence that PJ's is right across the street. The only hope a place like PJ's has for survival is the people coming out of the bar that are so drunk they can't see straight and starving because they need something to soak up all that beer. So hungry they'll eat anything. And that's why they are attracted to PJ's. I'm proud to say that I've only eaten here once or twice, but I've been here many a time with friends who just couldn't stand the hunger and caved in. I'm pretty sure they regretted it the next morning. PJ's is just this little place. Pretty scuzzy looking and there certainly isn't anything special about it. But it's good at catering to the drunk college student crowd, that's for sure. They're open really late and even deliver, so you don't have to be stumbling out of Out R Inn to come here, although it helps. The food here is really cheap and it looks and tastes like it. But that's just another reason why college students love it so much. And they have just about everything. Chicken fingers, fries, burgers, sandwiches, and basically anything that can be fried and greasy. Sometimes they combine some of the above things into one giant grotesque meal. I distinctly remember a friend of mine eating a chicken finger sandwich with french fries sticking out of it. Just scary. But if that kind of eating doesn't make you cringe, then maybe PJ's is the place for you. And when you have your beer goggles on, just about any food can seem appetizing. And there is a lot to choose from here. Just, none of it is healthy or even remotely good for you. I'm pretty sure eating here on a regular basis would cause your life expectancy to plummet. But the service seems to be friendly enough, the food is relatively fast, and after a long night out at the bar it somehow does manage to hit the spot.
