Awesome pizza - as if I were in a small town in Italy! Pizza crust is perfectly cooked with the right amount of char. Delicious!

Has someone who really enjoys pizza, I'm always game to try a new place. I met up with a friend for lunch here who had been a few times before and suggested the place. It's cute and quiet with a real cafe vibe going for it having both interior and patio seating. The $15 lunch special that included a whole pepperoni pizza and a Caesar salad is quite a deal. The salad came out quick and was tasty, with a fair amount of cheese, though I would have preferred a little bit more dressing. Perhaps I should have thrown some pepper on it. About halfway into my salad, the pizza was ready. While some may be concerned that it came out too early, it gave it time to cool down so that I didn't burn myself eating it too quickly. The pizza was pretty good, but it definitely needed the parmesan and crushed red pepper that I added to it. I just prefer a cheesier pie. I look forward to eating the other half of the pizza with some hot honey. I think that would really make it. read more

This is the definition of the classic neighborhood wood fire pizzeria. You come here to get a consistent thin and crispy slice with any combination of quality ingredients. The wine bar has a nice little selection with some froze and sangria to choose from, and all the tables have a view to that quite pretty oven where they cook the food. The menu and ingredients all lean more towards the traditional style toppings and offerings, i don't think you'll be able to order pineapple or hot honey on these pizzas. The flavors are more subtle, the sauce might just be a thin smear of crushed tomatoes, but I was craving a slightly more punchy red sauce. Located near the Costco and Sharetea. Plenty of parking up front. The interior is clean and it's good to see a nice wood fired pizza oven. We got a couple of apps; I wasn't very impressed with the sautéed calamari but the burrata was good. We ordered three different pizzas and they were very solid. The crust was thin and crisp, the cheese is solid. The tomato sauce is a bit delicate / bland but it's not bad when combined with all of the ingredients. The Margherita was my favorite, being a classic mix of ingredients. The Diavola was more meaty and was solid. I enjoyed the fennel sausage white pizza as well. We started off with an appetizer. The Polpette was great. More than enough for two. We order the Alla Benno pizza. The fun part was our waiter translated the menu. I've been coming to Solario since I was six years old and I can say that it's the best traditional Italian food in Houston. I am a college student, so I don't live in Houston full time right now but every time I am home for the weekend or vacation I come to Solario. Their staff is so lovely and have been there for a long time making the space feel homey and welcoming. I would highly suggest for a casual date night or even a large family gathering. Went with two other friends and we split 3 things: the truffle cheese bread (10/10) the pollo pizza (chicken pizza with pesto basil - 8.5/10) and the pollo cremoso pasta (9.5/10) I also got the frosé and it was one of the best ones I've had! all the food was pretty amazing, although the pasta was far superior! Tried Pizzeria Solaria and honestly wasn't too impressed. The place looked nice and the service was fine, but the pizza itself just didn't stand out. The crust was okay, a bit too soft for my taste, and the toppings lacked that bold flavor I was hoping for. The bread and dip were good though! I have visited this place since it opened. My sister lives right down the street so we picked it up often. During hurricane Harvey we walked there as it was the only place open. I have not visited in years but stopped by tonight for dinner. Place has gone WAY down hill. The meatballs might as well have been from the frozen section next door at Costco. Combined with their"arribiata" sauce it tasted more like a Mexican dish. Molinas Jose dip came to mind if you're familiar. Which is not a good thing. The "carbonara" if you can call it that was just atrocious. Cream based slop. Nothing reminiscent of a real pasta carbonara. The pizza, which I admit is why anyone should come for, was good. So that's the silver lining, but the other reason why I used to come: the cookies. I was so excited to at least redeem my meal with one of their jumbo cookies and what I got was a brown, burnt, disc that no where resembled what once was. I feel like this place doesn't get enough credit both as a takeout and dine in pizza option in Houston. I'm a huge wood fire pizza fan, and Pizzeria Solario offers VERY tasty pizzas. Located just between some apartments and a little strip of shops and eateries in the greenway plaza area lies this great pizzeria. The exterior is inviting with an old school pickup truck with very old looking wooden barrels, a vibrant yet chic sign, and an elegant patio. The interior is lively yet comfortable. There is something on the menu for the entire family, and this spot is also great for date nights. When you are done with pizza and drinks you can make your way across the street to Edward's Theater for a movie or for some indoor putt putt at Holey Moley. Some tips: When ordering online I was prompted with a10% off order option. I'm not sure how long this promotion will last. Also, it is worth noting that this pizza is not gigantic in size, but it is gigantic in flavor. If you are starving and feel this pizza might not fill you up, you might consider ordering one of their many starters. If you are sharing I recommend getting more than one pizza. Does this place have good pizza? No clue. What they do have that keeps me ordering time and again is the best ragu bolognese I have ever had. That and the burrata antipasti is chefs kiss delicious. The pizza and the salads are outstanding!! I had the Tessa Rossa pizza and Rocket salad. This pizza has pancetta (Italian bacon) and spicy pepperoni, and fresh mozzarella cheese which are placed in small mounds on the pizza, Napoli, Italy style. It taste like you are having a pizza on the Amalfi coast in Italy. The tomato sauce is delicious.!! The rocket salad with goat cheese was amazing as well. This place is very cozy, with a quaint bar and a very nice large beautiful pizza oven where you can see the pizzas being made and taken out of the oven. The pizza comes out hot. A quiet pizza place, tucked under an apartment complex, this restaurant has to be a great hidden gem. This was my second time going, but every time feels the same! Food and service is honestly always amazing. We got the meatballs for an appetizer, which was perfect, the flavor was on point and a must have. The pizza is enjoyable however, the red sauce is a bit too acidic for my taste. Also the white sauce was almost nonexistent on the Pollo pizza, but the pesto flavor was STRONG. I'm glad i tried it because the crust was nice but i got delivery and this is the type of crust that is best enjoyed fresh (immediately after you order it). I've tried a number of pizzas here, but I always go back to my beloved pepperoni. On top of a thin crispy crust, you get some sauce and cheese but also an endless amount of small, crispy, oily pepperonis. We were so lucky this place was open on Christmas Eve. We came for lunch and practically had the place to ourselves. It was very cozy and we enjoyed lunch with the background of Christmas tunes! Our waitress was extremely helpful and attentive. We had some rambunctious kids with us and they were allowed to be a little on the louder side since we were the only ones there. I've always passed this place whenever I go to Costco, but never went. My coworker told me this was his favorite pizza joint in Houston, so had to check it out. I also never really crave pizza, but I will have to agree; it is GOOD! Very much a mom and pop, not much seating indoors, but they do have outdoor & heaters! The best margarita pizza I've had in Houston! You can tell the sauce is fresh! They have the pizza making area right inside where you are sitting. Let me just go ahead and call this out: they have the best cheese bread plus marinara dip combo that I've ever had. This on its own already makes me give it the 5 stars that it deserves. The pizza/dough/sauce and toppings were all generous on the three pizzas I ordered. Best taste probably goes to the filetti then fungo then the pep. When I think of fancy pizza joints like this, I think of Pizaros. And this place beats them hands down. I'll be back for the truffle cheese bread and order a gallon of marinara for dipping and will definitely not share with anyone. 1/2 off bottles on Monday special can't be beat. Solario definitely did not look like much and it is tucked away from the sprawl of the skylines but the flavors are unique. I ordered the Fennel sausage and Pistachio Bianca pizzas. The dough is correctly done for a Neapolitan pizza with the right amount of crust char. The cheese is nowhere lacking but not overbearing in quantity. The pistachio ad sausages were generously placed. My only gripe with the place was the service. The waitress seemed rather bored and slow. My margarita pizza had a great, tangy tomato sauce in which you could tell was made with proper ingredients in-house. The cheese was thick and rich without being too runny or greasy. The crust had that oven, coal fire flavor combined with a doughy texture n some crispiness at the same time. The basil was a great topping already included providing an extra touch of herb taste to this pizza pie. The pizza I got also has a balanced tartness to it with some citrusy aftertaste in the sauce, which makes it very interesting and unique imo.
